Having seen Kapanen play approximately 15 times and at the IIHF he is definitely NHL ready and at the minimum a 3C. He has also played at pro level which is important. Beck has not played at pro level so the AHL will be beneficial to his development.
The concern is that if Kapanen makes Habs how many minutes will he play given Habs will showcase pending UFA forwards Dvo, Evans, Armia and Pezz. Plus Anderson and Gally are certain to have positions along with Roy. So how many games does Kap get?
Therefore Kapanen returning to Timra to play top line minutes, be on the PP and PK will improve his development as with Beck playing in the AHL. After this season Kapanen and Beck will then battle it out for 3C/4C roles with Habs given Dvo and Evans will be away.

Dvorak gone at the deadline. Evans will probably be gone next summer. Kapanen will probably get 10 games, but Kapanen and Beck will be launched next year as full timers.
Would love to see Dach on the wing to get his feet back, maybe with Laine and Kapanen between them.

As the last 3 seasons, the injuries especially to key players will determine which spot Montreal will pick at the next draft...if Suzuki gets seriously hurt early in the season, Montreal is picking top5 again !!!

Laval is a top 3 team and potential contender for a damaging playoff in the spring.
I have the utmost respect for Gallagher. If you remember last year's camp, everyone was saying that his career was over. Sure enough he had a good season and proved everyone wrong. Personally I would put Gally on the third trio instead of Anderson. Gally is way more intense and generates more scoring chances than Anderson. Heck, I would put Gally on the second line instead of Newhook. Gally grinds and goes to the net like a mini Slafkofski and is capable of doing great passes. I think this is what Laine and Dach need to get going in the NHL.

Dach didn't get taken in to the boards he wasn't even touched he is a BIG BABY.The phantom elbow by Struble was also soft Dach is just a whiner.
Barron is not getting a fair shake, he's not given a real spot. Always between 7th or 8th spot. Give him 10 games on third pairing and see what he can actually do. Not just 5 minutes here then hes on the pressbox agian

Your only as good as the opportunity the team gives you.I said last year if Gallagher was gifted the same free pass as Slafkovsky he would be a 30 goal scorer on the first line.
So the second line haven't played good put them on the 3rd line not the second line.I am not one to give a free pass to Dach or Newhook or Laine you either play good or your not getting the ice time.
I feel Newhook is ok with demotion but I feel Dach is going to be our cry baby he will not accept the 3rd or 4th line.
The Habs are so far down they have no chance at the playoffs.

Gallagher unfortunately, won't make it to the end of his contract in Montreal. I think he ends up helping a team make the cap floor by as early as next year. He will probably be back in the future though, he has a permanent space there

Pinard doesn't get a spot, hes the habs worst smaller player that got really lucky for 30 games 2 yrs ago. Definitely doesn't deserve a gaurenteed spot. Get rid of em
