I've got these posts on both my bikes (125mm and 150mm), the first one has been going strong for almost two years with no issues. The second one I bought to replace a RockShox post that was forever needing bleeding, air and tlc. When I got the second one, it worked for one ride and then refused to return. CRC replaced under warranty and the replacement has been going strong for over a year with no issues.
These are brilliant value and much easier to fit and maintain than a hydraulic actuated unit, especially if you have internal routing.
I had this post a couple of months now. Cost me £100 sale price. Has been great. No complaints at all. Part of the draw for me actually was knowing that if it had have been crap, it wasn't much money to have had wasted..
..but more to the point, if it had have been good but proven a bit unreliable - like say it only lasted for one season.. well look at it this way, I could afford to buy one of these seat posts *every year* for 6 years and it'd still be cheaper in the end that one Rockshox Reverb AXS. Which I can't imagine lasting 6 years either.
Ive never seen a functioning reverb in the wild, only orphaned buttons/levers as the rest is "away on warranty" 😂.

If the dropper won't return to normal height, there is a schrader valve under a rubber plug at the to of the post. Pull the saddle and hardware. Look for the rubber plug. Remove it and fill back up the post with a shock pump to noted psi. My 170mm xl is 280-300 psi.
It depends on the model, the longer ones have a air adjustable cartridge in them. The earlier and shorter travel posts have a non adjustable sealed gas cartridge liek a car boot door.
Have this post around a year now Only problem I had was the level broken CRC changed this under warranty. Other than that it has to be one of the best post out there for the money even out perform the the more expensive post my friend are running
I think that music is unnecessary, your voice is good enough.
🤣 I'm sure most my students wouldn't agree with you there.
@@StravaigingMTB no matter what ppl do they can have different tastes, I listen to rock, blues rock, blues, metal, and stuff in between, but odn't listen to POP,rap, hip hop and electronic, plenty of stuff I don't listen to I don't even know all the terms for it. but I am sure there are students listening to opera, classical symphony, or acoustic or rock, blues or what ever else.
I don't listen to what the radio,tv,or Spotify say is most popular or what most kids listen to, a lot of stuff I just can't tolerate listening to. but I find a lot of nice stuff here on youtube. but music in videos will be annoying for many, and I think it's unnecessary, but some music is more acceptable to more people.
Just bought 1 of these after watching your vids so thanx.
No worries, hope it serves you as well as mine has.
Wiggle currently has 20% for new customers and this post is on sale for $107. Just ordered for $88 shipped to US.
Thats a phenomenal price!
I just got same deal👍🤑
Yes I have 1 on my stumpjumper but it was internal. So I am glad I watched reviews & read. I missed my delivery 2day.
Would using the air valve under the seat and pumping it up a bit more help with the sticking problem?
The standard Ascend models use a sealed cartridge so no air adjust. The XL model has different internals and has the air adjust under the saddle.
@@StravaigingMTB thanks for the info.
@@StravaigingMTB Have you heard anything about reliability on the XL?
Heard a few had issues soon after installing with holding air pressure. Some stopped leaking once the seals bedded in some where replaced on warranty then no further issues.
@@StravaigingMTB Gotcha. Thanks for the follow-up. I've wanted one a while - first purchase when I get the man fund replenished.
I run 3 Bx posts on 3 bikes. With the first 2 (ascend and ascend II) I found both the 1x and 2x levers to be too flimsy so I replaced them both with a Bontrager Dropline lever. With my 3rd post (Ascend) that I was putting on my hardtail build I bought a Bontrager lever before I’d got the post ready to put it straight on. But it seems that Bx have listened to the feedback as it came with a new, updated and much more solid lever. Otherwise, all 3 of my posts have been bomb proof where my old Reverb needed constant attention.
I'm about to swap mine out for a Race Face Turbine lever, very solid with zero slop, should hopefully make the lever feel a lot lighter as well!
Stravaiging MTB I like raceface stuff, but the Bontrager lever’s cost me £15 so it was a no brainer for me.
Got mine off ebay for £23. Crazy money for new!
Wish mine had a lower saddle height through use, its a tiny bit too long.
I bought the 150 mm one to replace the dropper on my sons whyte 905. I could not believe how well made and how well it worked. bargain.
Yeah i regret not getting the 150mm could do with the extra drop on the Spitfire
good video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
I’ve got the same vintage of post and just replacing the cable, but can’t seem to get the cable ferrule to seat and stay seated in the lever. When I push the lever in the ferrule pops out and the post then doesn’t lock in place. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
would you do a service vid ? i just serviced mine and it wont return as quickly as it did pre service .... i remember you said in another vid that the weight of grease can make a difference , which would you recommend ?
A small amount of suspension specific such as Slick Kick or Judy Butter. It could also be the seat pist collar, if it is even slightly over torqued it can bind a seatposts movement so double check that first.
Also a service vid is on the cards.
If you serviced it and cleaned it like you are supposed to it would return to full height
So in 14 months you lost approximately 20% height of post. What caused it and can it be resolved?
A clean and service resolved it and if it became a consistent problem then the gas cartridge would need replaced.
It has intermediate values and how long is the outer bulb?
is the issue with the cartridge or the mechanical part? I am sceptical towards serviceable cartridges, cus if something goes wrong you can't fix it, you have to replace it, and that cost money. why I stayed away from OneUp, but using shim to adjust travel is nice.
I am trying out E13 dropper but I only had few chances to ride with it, but so far what I noticed is slight discolouration to the stanchion where it would be at lowest point.
and there is a lot of play right out of the box. but I can take it apart completely if that's needed and service it.
I think its with the cartridge but going to tear it down and see.
@@StravaigingMTB best dropper IMO would be fully mechanical,(likeE13 but with no play) with parts that are easy to get, and have it service kit/spares, and have adjustable travel(like OneUP), no play in any direction.
low profile seat clamp area and collar(like ONE UP)
@@StravaigingMTB probably a air leak, not surprising after so long.
ive just fitted an Ascend dropper post, is it normall for it to have a litte rotational play left to right in it?
A small amount, 2/4 degrees is normal but you won't feel it when riding.
Cheers for the insight much appreciated 👍
Grate bike. I have paradox v3 💪🏻🔥
How much weight can this dropper hold?
Not sure but you should be able to Google the manual and see.
120KG
I used this post now over 2 years (about 5‘500 km) but had not any issue with it. Just the best post I‘ve ever had. But unfortunately it doesn’t fit in my next bike..
There great posts, also nice to see you in the comments!
Thank you! If you come once to Switzerland for riding mtb just contact me, I will show you some nice trails! (PS: you can see some of them on my channel :) )
Does this post not have a valve where you can increase the air pressure with a shock pump for the return to full length position?
Nope, it is a sealed gas cartridge like the ones that hold car boots open. The larger XL model has one under the saddle but has different internals.
@@StravaigingMTB I've just had an issue with the gas cartridge going south in my Giant seatpost..... do the gas cartridges not go buggy? I'm wondering if it's an easy replacement?
From what my LBS has told me its a straightforward replacement. Go to a Giant dealing bike shop and they can source the part pretty easily.
@@StravaigingMTB yeah done, they're not cheap 69$CAD, and may take up to a week to get shipped in...
Anyone else have problems with it has play if you push seat forward and back ? Rotation play is a normal thing but forward and back? Can you replace bushes ?
open the whole thing up and make sure the bolt under the seat is tight.
@@StravaigingMTB you can see the inner shaft rock forward and back a touch,
@@rockybrewer there is a sort of white split bush in there, that could have excessive wear. if it's under a year I would just warranty it.
@@StravaigingMTB came on a Demo bike I brought, so no warrenty, bike has been around a year, said less than 300 miles which all the other components look new, cheers for the help
I have noticed this as well. I put a gasket under the screw off collar and hand tightened it. It doesn't move back and forth anymore.
nice hair...
i mean it!
here’s the question. can i still my alu frame to make it internal routes????
Sorry dude, if you drill your Alu frame it will start to crack out from that point. Even a steel frame should have a gromet of some kind brazed on. Better off finding an externally routed post. Brand X have one and I have had a great experience with the Specialized Command Post.
Have the same dropper post, but replaced the original lever with the bontrager drop line under bar remote. It's a cheap lever on a high quality level. On my other MTB i have installed a reverb ... But i prefere the Brand x.
I have a Race Face Turbine lever on order, have a service and lever upgrade vid in the pipeline. Its a great post for any cash, and I've almost never seen a reverb that doesnt have issues.
wtf music? dude.....just give us the information - we will keep listening :)
Who cares bro hes doing us a favor by telling us what the dropper is like after a bit of use so we can determine if we like the dropper or not the music isn't a big deal you can hardly hear it so just don't worry about it
If it's that bad stick the captions on and mute the audio 🤣👍🏻
@@StravaigingMTB hmmm....true....but my point is this; when you are receiving information (on any subject)....does it need to be underscored? i mean you're reading this now and all you're getting is the information.... ok so i'm humming whilst writing (hit me baby one more time)....but you can't hear me. would the information be any more valid with britney in the background. i think not. ditto bbc news. imagine it.....hugh edwards.....and daft punk. poor analogy? maybe....but ultimately they are both about information. information is pure.....i like it in its raw form. but then that's me.....and some others here :) thanks for not being abusive though.....MTBers are rad cool respectful
Get a new cartridge
If it won't return to full height, IT HAS FAILED.
If your indexing is off you dont say your drivetrain has failed, you fix it. Same applies here. It's returning 110/112mm of its 120mm of travel when new. And returning on that travel smoothly.
@@StravaigingMTB I have seen this problem before with the same post and I also saw the mans solution to the problem....he lubed the post like you would a fork.
