Quang Ho was born on April 30, 1963, in Hue, Vietnam. He Immigrated to the United States in 1975. His artistic interest began at the early age of three and continued through grade school, high school, and art school and led him to an exciting and successful painting profession. In 1980, at the age of 16, Quang held his first solo show at Tomorrow’s Masters Gallery in Denver, Colorado. The exhibit was a big success for the high school sophomore. In 1982, Quang’s mother was killed in a tragic auto accident, leaving him the responsibility of raising four younger brothers and a six-year-old sister. That same year, Quang attended the Colorado Institute of Art on a National Scholastics Art Awards Scholarship. At CIA, Quang studied painting under Rene Bruhin, whom Quang credits with developing the foundation for his artistic understanding. Ho graduated from CIA in 1985 with Best Portfolio Award for the graduating class.
He is a much sought-after teacher and lecturer on art and has won numerous prestigious awards nationally from the Artists of America to the Oil Painters of America exhibits. He has held a retrospective exhibit at the Steamboat Springs Museum of Art and has held shows at the Woolaroc Museum as well as the Booth Museum of Western Art. Quang enjoys reading philosophy and science, playing guitar and golf, and he finds time to hunt for fossils and forage for mushrooms.

One of the best interviews I've heard on your podcast. So many painters can't communicate, but Quang Ho was great.

He is so prolific, and he continues to grow and evolve. I love that he is not content to stick to one style. This was a great interview. So inspiring!

This was the best podcast! I have been struggling with the gallery push to to have one thing you do good to be there. I continue to do many different styles. What drives me is the essence of the subject. To see an artist plow forward and constantly explore is very reaffirming to keep on doing what I do. Freedom! I appreciate how thoughtful your podcast is to dig deeper into the subject by asking the right questions. Thank you! Quang’s paintings rock!

"finding your style" For me as an older person it is the Beatles you know it is the beatles but every album is a different sound. There are many bands and painters that paint or sing the same offering it is authentic it just is a "style". No one could be more authentic than Francis Bacon but one might see his work as the same painting just a different subject. And once again I am not an artist however I am working my way through your catalogue of videos so entertaining .

One of the best art interviews I've seen, definitely going to go through a lot of your other videos now. Your ability to actually ask "how and why" questions was incredibly refreshing, Most interviewers are so pressed with asking a million questions they never follow up on an answer to get even deeper responses from the artist.

Great interview. I was previously unaware of his artwork. Truly amazing in the variety of styles and his experimental/inquisitive mindset. I am a self-taught painter going on two years with no ambition to sell painting but only to enjoy the process. What I most love to do is switch between a loose approach to a tighter one. The learning is its own reward.

Late to the podcast. Love it. The topic of style and originality made me think of this great quote from CS Lewis.
"Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.”
You find style without searching for it. If you even care to find it.
Hope you can keep these conversations going.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I SO needed to hear this conversation. We tend to get bogged down and beaten over the head with, pick one thing and master it…find your audience…etc., etc. I need to be more trusting of my “Spiritual downloads”, and go for it!!! Blessings to you both! 🙏💕. P.S. Class of ‘82 RULES!! LOL 😆
