I'm so glad these are here...now we can watch the guys during their best times. RIP MIke...hope you're rockin' out with Peter and Davy up in Heaven. You'll be missed by all us fans.
@@sonja73 Can I just tell you something about these brand new 'Monkees' episodes? I do realize it so that; there wasn't even one word, that was ever mentioned about Jesus.
This is a great pitch, shows they still have the chemistry. A different angle with a more sophisticated approach and a reboot cult totally work, if not just a whole new series. Imo
Love my Monkees and always will. God bless Davy, Peter and Mike who are rockin it in Heaven and Micky is holding the fort here for us. Micky, stay strong and your brothers are proud of you and so are we. A fan always since 1966.
I'm so grateful that I grew up with the guys and appreciated each and every episode and followed their personal journeys through the years. But so sad I never knew of this. I feel as though I missed out. Thank you for posting and thank you RUclips.
Wow thankyou I never knew about this. Such a joy to watch it could have been a great show, I suppose Friends got the gig! I was so lucky to see Davy perform in a pantomime in my home town of Luton England when I was 16 and I took along 3 original albums I had purchaced at a jumble sale. He kindly autographed them for me as Davy Jones The Monkees. I was recently told they are worth over £300 each. I will have them till I die. Keep strong Micky x
Davy: " no gimmicks!" Micky:" What about the stars in eyes, those are gimmicks " Davy:" no !" Micky: " hey what about that one?" Davy:( shooting the flying star) " Just extras " I love this and laughed so hard:)
Wow, I never knew about this. I was the Monkee's number one fan. Well, that 's what the membership letter and card said. It was a real blow when Davy passed on, an even bigger blow when Peter died recently. They were my everything when I was in 5th & 6th grade. I will try to remember and watch these with a smile on my face instead of tears. Is there any way to let Mike and Micky know, I wish them peace and blessings? I met Davy and Micky when they were touring down in Florida around 79 or 80? They both were really nice to me.
watching them here, so lively and happy, just like back in the day, you can’t believe that a majority of them have died. it’s like they’re still alive. in spirit yes, but sadly not physically.
I've always liked Mickey's comment that they were hired to play characters that were in a band. And then they actually became a real band. He said it was a bit like Starsky and Hutch going out and becoming real cops.
I'm very surprised that Mike is a part of this. Always thought he preferred to disassociate himself from the group & series yet they came back for this. Oh, still great to see them & all looking pretty good especially Davy, he is still cute yet he'd leave us first. Go figure? However, this is a little sad to watch knowing now that Mike has left us too. He wasn't well in the end, poor man but their music will live on & so will their zany tv show.
Not only did he have a part, he wrote and directed this episode and who knows, who did the others. It’s sad that only Mickey is left and how he must feel that his brothers have passed on. Mike’s passing has me digging deeper into the Monkees and appreceating more than I ever did before. Gems like this and so much more! 🎶✨
Ya Know, This realy is clever and charming, I think given what mike had to work with, NO BODY!! could have done better, many thanks and much love to the cat who posted this,
I always wondered the budget restraints on this. The extra/supporting characters are terrible. Maybe they were meant to be awful at acting but the 60's show always had tremendous character actors. Also it looked like it was filmed with a vhs camera. I mean that cheapens the feel of something that should have been epic. Mike came up with a great plot but not a really good way to express it. The idea that they have been around forever was epic but just not utilized properly. Should have had another writer. With all that said, I still love the Monkees and even though it was not perfect it was the last time i would get to see them living the life as the monkees. Good memories and times.
I remember when this was first on. I hoped it would run more episodes but was glad it was at least attempted. If it had ran more episodes maybe they wouldve brought in Monty Landis.
love the monkees then, now and forever god is great all the time broth these four together made the world shine with love and peace fear not tomorrow god is already there, the love of a family is life,s greastest blessing
RIP Mike Davy and Peter. This was also the reunion of the Monkees with the original car. This, the Monkeemobile #1 had no top in this show because I made the new framework and sewed the top just after they filmed.....when I opened the glovebox there was a bill of lading from the shipping company from Burbank, California to NJ in there. Before it went to Cali I had to repair and dye the interior and made new carpets for it after the resto shop set fire to it during some suspension welding. But the Monkees themselves sat in there and boy was my little sister excited to sit in there too! The owner let me drive it to one of our local cruise nights where it made a huge splash, but that ended once it was appraised at 6 figures....oh well. ps- California Car Cover Company should still have my pattern on file for a custom car cover.....if your Monkeemobile has to sit outside in the weather.....

How ironic that Micky made a drink that makes one vomit. Years later in the Harry Potter book series Fred and George Weasley made puking pastels a candy that makes you vomit.
this was a great show MICKY DOLENZ always had a great sense of humar sad all of them but him are gone now i used to love watching this show as a kid the monkeys had some pretty good song s to last train to clarksville im not your steeping stone it goes own the personality of peter, mike ,davey will be missed mickey has a huge personality but worked so much better with all the boys !!

I think it would have been cool if for old times sake Mike would have brought his wool hat out of retirement and wore it for this special the guys did in 1997, wouldn't that have been cool, and for the guys to wear the same concert outfits like they did on the original show, but with a modern twist?
I'm so glad these are here...now we can watch the guys during their best times. RIP MIke...hope you're rockin' out with Peter and Davy up in Heaven. You'll be missed by all us fans.
Never get tired of hearing Davy's voice and seeing that gorgeous smile

This show could've worked. The guys are still genuinely funny 33 years on from the original series.
It was meant to be a reboot pilot, but got low ratings. I would have watched it!

@@debrahubbard763 Sadly, we've lost three of the four members, first Davy, then Peter and finally Mike, leaving only Mickey.
I loved the Monkees and still watch them. This doesn't work. The New Monkees didn't work for me either. It's trying way to hard.
Just discovered this special - these guys always managed to have fun no matter what they were doing.
I love The Monkees but I much prefer the 60s aesthetic than the 90s
Oh for sure. That's part of the overall magic.
That's RIGHT,me to.
60s were young goofy and funny WAYYYY BETTER

I actually thought Mike had aged better than the others - he's still cute. Thanks so much for sharing this.
suzannestarke too bad he didn't wear his trademark hat in this.
@@biguy617 that would be awesome seeing Mike bust out the vintage green knit hat!
Peter looks really good too in this.

I didn't know either! I was today years old when I found out.

I love the conceit that the show has been going on for all the intervening years, it just stopped airing. That is such a Monkees idea.
Concept boonube you love the concept
Nope, conceit - a facade, a fallacy put on for the benefit of the audience.
You're right Boonube. My bad. Sorry
Yes, and I meant it as a fanciful expression of continuity expressed in an elaborate metaphor.
