I am so excited to finally reveal my secret project to you all! I thought it would be much more fun to post this as a surprise, was I right? I have some pretty crazy plans for this car in the future. But for now I'm really excited to start back over with a stock engine in a car that is as light as this one. I mean 13.0s 1/4 mile on a stock turbo? I was very surprised by this. I was expecting something more like 14.0s, just imagine how fast it will be with x4 the power it makes now! I'm going to try and take my time with this, and slowly increase performance. Every time I add something new to make the car faster, I will go back out and test the 1/4 mile time, for science! I love seeing the physical difference that upgrades do to a car, Oh what fun this is going to be. Stay tuned, I already have plans for more mods so hopefully more vids coming soon. I'd love to test out a RS2 k24-7200, as I have never ran this turbo. If anyone has one that they want to donate temporarily, that would be really cool to compare it to the 3071R that the car will be getting for it's first turbo upgrade. Thank you guys so much for watching, and all the support over the years. Let me know what you think about the car in the comments. All feedback is good feedback. This thing is an absolute blast to drive! Can't wait to make more improvements. Love you guys! -quattro4life

I know I'm gonna take a major loss on all the parts I have, that is honestly my only issue with scraping the 1.8t
I'm sad, but happy at the same time. i have an AAN i planned on swapping my B5 A4 with, but i just dont have the funds or tools to do it yet. i was hoping no one else in the us was gonna do it successfully before i got the chance to. life just got in the way of me making that goal happen. i am happy its you that did it though. please make an indept video of how you mounted it in the car with subframe, what clutch kit you went with, if you moved the trans back or not, things like that ive questioned, but not many people have shared the info or its not as well documented aside from a few friends ive made on fb that have done the swap in europe.
If you plan on changing motor internals, go for the naturally aspirated 2.3 20V and throw good rods and pistons in there... It's the same block, with more stroke than the aan. As far as I know, the cylinder head is the same, but the camshafts have better duration and lift as it is a NA... The thing is, these are much cheaper to get than a original AAN code motor...
I should add, the naturally aspirated 7A motor 20V has a different stroke, because the crankshaft is different... The 7A motor should be relativly cheap compared to true AAN, so try getting a 7A Block and Head, leave the camshafts in (will get up to 30HP more at higher rpm, if you want good throttle response, change the inlet side camshaft to AAN-spec, but leave the 7A-exhaust cam in) change the crankshaft to AAN spec for a displacement of 2.2L, throw good pistons and rods in... Add a good k24 or a bigger turbo and you are set for quite some hp... It's also a very reliable setup... Should make more hp than a built AAN with about the same money...
@@that_escalated_quickly2720 i appreciate you sharing the knowledge. i bought an aan long block almost 2 years ago with hopes of doing the swap after seeing how common it was in europe. i have the block stripped and just waiting for funds to buy parts for the cylinder head and bottom end. my aeb just gave up last week due to fuel wash so im stuck trying to decide if i should go ahead and get that up and running or swap it over the winter. i wanted to keep the car daily driveable, but havent figured out how to keep radiator in front. i know martin harp moved his trans back an inch or 2 which would give some space to run the radiator and maybe do a water to air intercooler. i hope he posts more videos about this because i like when people share knowledge in the Audi community and it was my goal to do so if i completed the swap down the road.
@@Stage_59sry to hear about your AEB... Those are good engines... I know a guy in austria who has a A4 B5 with a AAN swap, he has the radiator AND the intercooler in the front as far as I know... I don't know if he had to set back the trans, but I believe he didn't need to... The thing is, the fabrication of the motor mounts and so on is kind of finicky as I have heard, but I wish you the best of luck with your build. If you have "some" money left over after the build, I highly recommend the JHM rebuilt kit for the 01E and if you have even more money left, check out some cable shifters... It really helps with the soggy shift of the 01E... I know a guy with a CAE shifter and the transmission is a blast and comfortable to drive, compared to my stock diesel 01E. Best of luck to you!
Hi @Quattro4life, love your videos here in the uk 🇬🇧 I need some advice really and I’m struggling to find information online. I have an audi a6 b6 3.0v6 and I also have a 20v turbo engine. Will it fit in there as I’ve seen red lazer project of yours and wondered if it would fit in the newer b6 model? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciate. Thanks
I would say that if it will fit in a b5, then it should fit in a b6! I did some measuring to see if I could get the radiator to fit in the front, and I'm pretty sure I could have fit a not so tall custom radiator in the front, but then there wouldn't be any room for an intercooler. If my plan was to keep the car stock, then I would have put the radiator in the front, and ran the factory side mount intercooler. But that is just not fun! I really enjoyed the challenge of building a setup that I have never done before. Definitely went overkill on the radiator for now, but I suspect that I will need it when approaching 1000whp! P.S. I have made some monumental changes to the car since I posted this video. Can't wait to post another one, and show off all my hard work. Thanks for watching mate! Cheers :)
@@quattro4life20vt that’s what i thought 💭 I suppose the only option is to give it a go and see how I get on. Looking forward to seeing your next video and as always keep us smiling with the noises that your motors make 👍🏻 Quattro for life… Ps I’ll send over some pictures once the project of my own takes place.

so. can i just put a screamer on the back end of the wastegate like that? or do i have to remap the ecu etc, im new to the world of aan engines, and turbos in general
Very simple explanation... experience! 07k is a great engine, but I have no experience with it, nor do I have one here to play with. I do however have a lot of AAN experience, and parts, not to mention a spare engine and harness at my disposal. I really like the simplicity of an AAN, not to mention the character. Oh and it also physically looks much better :) My idea is to take the 1000hp setup in my UrS4 and duplicate it for this car. Shaving 1000lbs off of the setup will unleash an unreal amount of potential! Can't wait to feel it!

It has definitely been a really fun learning experience, and really looking forward to what you end up doing.
I haven't messed with the 07k either, but they're getting a ton more popular, and I agree with the simplicity of the aan. That is why I love the 1.8t so much. Cheap, and easy to work on, and parts are everywhere. Pretty much everything can be upgraded.
They just don't have that 5 cylinder sound though lol.
Definitely going to follow this for sure.
Hopefully end of this summer I'll be ready to wire the engine and head to the machine shop, maybe by the. I'll make my decision.
I know I'm gonna take a major loss on all the parts I have, that is honestly my only issue with scraping the 1.8t
Where did you buy the engine? Could you put that in the descriptions?
I would be interested in how if you rebuilt the engine.
Love the videos . I 'm looking for a shop or weekend worrier with experience in New York area . Can u recommend someone.
That's what I wanted to build
Check out my old build for info. 😄 www.garaget.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=196330
I’ve been told that the gearbox from the b6 a4 (3.0l v6 Quattro 6speed) should bolt on as is a upgrade to some of the guys seen on Audi forums, as I only payed £500 for the b6 with a few issues to engine 👌🏻but as I’m pulling the motor it dose not matter.
Looking forward to seeing your next video and as always keep us smiling with the noises that your motors make 👍🏻 Quattro for life…
Ps I’ll send over some pictures once the project of my own takes place.
Im one of your biggest fans i think you doing great this video is car porn I love just "don't stop" I know a winner when I see one
This is so cool.
Laser beam is pretty
How much did you have to modify it to fit that thing in there??
Salut je posséde une a4 b6 2.5 tdi v6 fwd j'aurai aimer savoir si un swap quattro est possibles a faire merci
What stand-alone ECU do you use i have a Audi MC 10v
beautiful build… the radiator exhaust looks like robot pants ;¬) where will you duct the air for the radiator from?
Lol, robot pants, that's a good one 😆 I have the car completely torn apart right now making various upgrades and improvements.
Hoping to do an overview video of the car when it's done and show off the new upgrades, including the finished cooling package with intake ducting. I've come up with something pretty cool, hopefully I can pull it off, stay tuned!
so. can i just put a screamer on the back end of the wastegate like that? or do i have to remap the ecu etc, im new to the world of aan engines, and turbos in general
Yes, you can add the screamer pipe without messing with any software or tuning. The bigger the turbo, the better they sound!!
@@quattro4life20vt may i ask where yours is routed? also, really clean car man looks fire
Okay im in.
Hi man! Great job!!!
What coilovers you have on your URS?
PLEASE
That car just has koni shocks with h&r springs. It could use some coilovers!
Was removing the interior necessary?
Yes, goal is to make the car 1000lbs less than my current car. Should be able to get it close to 2800lbs
curious as to why you went AAN vs 07k?
Very simple explanation... experience! 07k is a great engine, but I have no experience with it, nor do I have one here to play with. I do however have a lot of AAN experience, and parts, not to mention a spare engine and harness at my disposal. I really like the simplicity of an AAN, not to mention the character. Oh and it also physically looks much better :)
My idea is to take the 1000hp setup in my UrS4 and duplicate it for this car. Shaving 1000lbs off of the setup will unleash an unreal amount of potential! Can't wait to feel it!
I have an FRP engine for sale. Would drop right in this
I'm interested 👀
@@quattro4life20vt didn't see the reply until now. It's the head from his old salt flat car, his cams, pauter rods, and so on. High compression E85 build. Not just how often you talk to Jeff, but he's aware of me selling it, and could probably put you in contact with me.
where do you keep finding the aan engines at lol
Found this one out of a crashed car on Craigslist years ago. Saved it for a rainy day 😉
AAN far better !
Does the motor bolt up to the trans without any fab work?
No fab work. Both engines use a version of 01E. 2.7 uses the spacer, AAN doesn't. You just have to remove a dowel on the 6-speed to bolt up to an AAN
@@quattro4life20vt that’s awesome, I’m looking to do something crazy with my B5 😈not 100% sure yet atm. Love your Builds, The Awesome work and Inspiration.. Never stop with the insanity 😜
@victors6868 thanks! This car will be the definition of insanity one day!
saw this at Helen 🙂
