Same here… I would have killed for something like that when I was a teen. I did get to go to Europe for a month in the summer for the first time when I was 17 and spent the whole time with a family there and had a blast. Only that it was not on the water but on land. Feels like something is missing in these videos. Excitement perhaps. It goes to show that sometimes the excitement of wanting to be somewhere can be greater than actually being there.

My takeaway and probably one not sought or expected is the comparison that shows prominent between teenagers raise in modern society and yours raised in a closed nurturing family environment. Jack is becoming a wise young man, willing to learn from Keith. I see him fully engaged in the sailing world going forward. Finn seeks acceptance, that's important to him. Kate is so grounded and self-assured. Great videos and a true fan from the beginning.

Good on ya Keith for being a very good ambassador especially for cruisers......as fellow cruisers I get so fed up with cruisers who bitch and moan when things don't go well at a particular marina in another country while completely ignoring how hard the people are working to make everything work (especially 3rd world countries). I was in a remote place in the Abacos once, and the little place didn't have enough fresh water hose to reach the boat and the watermaker was tango uniform....just before leaving the gas dock a little kid showed up with bits of hose he collected around the town and pieced it all together, flushed it out, and we filled our fresh water tank (and he got a very big tip). Thanks for setting a great example on how to spend less time bitching and more time observing and complementing and giving kudos where they are due!

I absolutely love every single video y’all put out but this one was so incredibly full of pride and warm fuzzies !!! I’m a very compassionate but tough love, build endurance and figure it out kind of mom, so seeing these kids mature, take responsibility, learn new skills, adjust to the uncomfortable, tend to their emotions, endure difficulties, bond with others, appreciate the good and the bad and cooperate as a team is so heartwarming!!!! Life is hard and if we as parents don’t build these things into our children they will either not make it or have a more difficult life. So to Keith, Renee and all the parents who let their kids go, thank you, you have just changed the lives of these kids !!! And all of that goes for Jack, Finn and Kate just as much !!!
The Dutch girls words about Keith and Renee were not only true but it shows her maturity at seeing and appreciating the strength of others !!!
If you kids read this, just know that all the good and the bad, the adjustments and emotions are what life brings most everyday when you head out on life alone away from the security of your parents, so embrace it, learn from it and find the positive in everything, your life will be better for this experience !!!

Great that you got your new aircons, and a brilliant effort for both Keith and Jack in getting them installed. I hope you continue to enjoy your excursion with your young guests on board. Fair winds, and God speed Zatara.

I’m intrigued that you say that the Red Sea is uncharted.
That’s so not so. My Great Uncle George Chisholm charted the Red Sea at the turn of the last century, ie 1900. We had the original soundings of the islands and reefs in a trunk in the loft of my parents house when we cleared it out in 2001. We sent the canvas rolls to the Greenwich Maritime Museum but never heard back from them.
These maps were so detailed and took years to make.
We even have reefs, islands and shoals named after our family.
True, those maps are way way out of date but they were mapped and sounded.
Loving your vlogs, new subscriber and will attempt to catch up with you vlogs!
Every best wish from Neil in Australia 🇦🇺

I’m impressed by the awesome yacht club, my visits were over 20 years ago so I’m sure it’s very different in every way. The Saudi people are warm and friendly, the government I won’t comment about. Things have changed drastically with regards to personal freedoms in Saudi Arabia since I was there, you’re fortunate to visit in a much better time.

Had no idea thats where you stick the AC units on Zatara! Just wild how use of space has to be maximized on a Catamaran (or an RV) The secret sauce of Team Zatara is of course Keith and his skills at Repair and Replacement of Boat Machinery and Tech. The Designers of Yachts just assume repair will be done by Expensive paid labor with checks written by of course uber wealthy owners. The reality of course is different I know not everyone who owns a boat is mega rich and if you want to make it work sure helps to have a Keith on board and a son Jack who can learn from the Best! Highly recommend a rewatch of Ep 190 "Seriously, is there anything he CAN'T fix?" That ep shows just what skills are needed in the Money Pits of the Mobile lifestyle (Boats and RVs the Land Yachts).
Great Episode and kudos to the other secret to this channels success Renee, who just keeps this ongoing Saga engaging & entertaining with Top-level Video skills!

So I’m not sure if you could use these units but there are such things as standalone air conditioners. You could’ve easily put two or three of those units in your boat if you are docked you probably could’ve hooked them up to the power vented them out the port hole to provide a supplemental relief if you could find them in that country.

Renée - you're very right. Every country in the world has its' issues. In my extensive travels (KSA included) I have found that "the people" are pretty much the same the world over. All they want is a nice happy and healthy life. Its the rulers who are always the problem. What to do?!? Also - please be aware that as you approach the Aqaba area, you might have to check about flying your drone. It is a heavily militarised place, and so for the avoidance of any issues - check first, as Drones are largely forbidden in the region. Also (I have so many things I could mention!!!) Kate is positively glowing. Its so nice that she has girls with who she can connect. The difference is impressive. You're great parents, and I salute y'all!! (Off to `KSA myself this week, maybe...)
