You can do it anyway, its actually lower voltage believe it or not than a standard stick pack. Just get yourself a lipo low voltage buzzer and you'll be fine. Take it from someone who has been racing and bashing rc for more than 5 years.
No, The 1/16 summit is more of an off roader than a crawler. However, I agree with some of the other statements here. Exceed can be good sometimes, but a lot of their stuff is poop. HPI and Axial and many other companies make rock crawlers that are 1/3 more expensive, but 100x better quality. I have several planes powered by Exceed RC motors and they are great, but I have 2 Exceed trucks and both are dead after 30 runs each. I spent more in parts to repair them than just buying a Traxxas.
When will this model be available again....Also my nephew has the very same one but is in need of a steering arm and parts are also out of stock. Any idea about when parts will be available?Any input would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!!
I like my exceed maxstone 8, but i don't drive it into ponds, rivers and off cliffs. I have not had any problems. Some people have problems with rubber balls and shoestrings.
i'm a beginer rc hoobiest and i have a stock traxxas vxl. If im riding for only ten minutes and the wheels stop moving (get stuck under a tree for example), then i would have to go push the truck to get the wheels spinning and then continue riding. is there a problem with the esc or battery or is that normal? Please help as i would greatly appreciate it.
Summit. The Mad Torque comes nowhere close. NitroRCX is probably going to say its both equal but the Mad Torque is so much cheaper. Get the Summit for a good quality truck.
The thing has ALOT of aluminum Im impessed but the firt thing that breaky on a rc car most of the time is something with steering espiecaly with cheapos I would say give it a go. but dont have hight hopes
Bill, you could actually achieve a perfect balance between torque and speed if you upgrade both motors and pinions. A good brushless system works every time. Enjoy, the truck is great as is.

The crawler is powered with 2 motors so if you only have 1 motor the crawler only have 2wd essentially.

can rock crwlers get some speed? like 20-30mph?
I don't think so They are meant for slow crawling (like IRL) you go slow over big Rock
its just a cam trick.. its not THAT steep. but thats a dang nice crawler! sure it could crawl what you made it look like! lol

I can't really call it a 4 link system since the upper links connect into a "Y" shape, the crawler has a multi-link system.

Probably tops out at 7 mph, it's not supposed to be fast tho, it's a rock crawler

max stone can be easily turned into a 1/5 scale but the wheels r crap the mad torque cant be changed as easily but has better stock tires
