I've been shooting for forty years and I have owned many handguns. I bought this gun and its the BEST gun I've ever owned. This gun is lightweight and accurate! I love it!
I own a Dan Wesson, Les Baer, and an Ed Brown. This pistol is as good as any of them. It's one of the most reliable and most accurate pistols I own. Good on ya Smith and Wesson.

My buddy has the "round butt" version of this firearm...and holy shit is this thing amazing. Feels great in your hand, Shoots super accurate, and Its one of the most beautiful firearms Ive ever laid my eyes on. Ever since I fired it, Ive been trying to get one for about a year now, and its pretty much impossible.

I have this weapon and I do like it a lot but I wish it did not have the cuts into the slide. Those have to make it lighter in weight but it also would allow in dust and dirt.
I want a 1911 and right now i have it narrowed to 2 selections. This s&w pc round butt and the kimber ultra cdpII. personally held both and the s&w felt lie a smoother operation over kimber. And the trigger too me felt better than the kimber. Not to mention the s&w looks baddass
Purchased one of the Performance Center 1911's four weeks ago. Got it home and while checking it out discovered the hammer would drop to half-cock when releasing the slide. Sent the gun back to S&W warranty dept, which they received on Aug. 31. After not hearing back from anyone for ten days I called to inquire about it. Was told it would probably be next week before it would be looked at. Not happy with that, though having no choice, said ok. Called again yesterday to follow up and was told it would be 5-6 weeks as that is their general turn around. Not happy with that at all and voiced my displeasure with their don't really care attitude. I told the gentleman that I paid almost 1500.00 for a gun that I have yet to fire and now I am expected to wait up to a month and a half to get it back. I relayed my opinion that if you pay "Performance Center" prices, we should expect "performance level" service, especially taking into account this gun should never have gotten out of the quality control dept. I know from past experiences with 1911 guns is that this will be a easy fix that would take a competent gun smith less than an hour(TOPS) to repair and the gun could be sent out the next day. You would think they would be extremely anxious to get this handled quickly. But they just don't seem to care. They said they had a lot of guns ahead of mine, but how many were brand new guns that had not yet been fired and had come from the Performance Center shop? Not sure what my 1500.00 dollars has gotten me. Poor service at best so far. This would be a non-issue had the gun been properly test prior to test firing. Had it been handled correctly to begin with there would have been no need to send it back.So just be aware, that S&W customer service doesn't really care to provide performance level service for their premium guns from the Performance Center. Perhaps they should change the name to NON-PERFORMANCE CENTER.Read more Show less

Why is the barrell dark? Case hardened, nitron finish, etc.
Not for almost $1,600 i dont think so. It looks very nice, im sure its smooth operating. But you can buy handguns thats just as nice for much cheaper prices.
Keith Hill I'm just curious for reference, what other firearms can you buy for way cheaper that are such quality and have a ported slide with checkering on front and back of grip as well as night sights, and Scandium frame? I'd like to buy a couple.
The Three check out rock island armory 1911's they are nice and plenty of torture videos on them

those are 8 rounders. but you could get 14 round after markets.
