  • Review of the nice, lightweight SW1911SC.
    Pros:
    Durable, lightweight frame
    Smooth finish
    Fish scale serrations
    Bobtail grip feels nice
    Trigger is crisp
    Very handsome design
    Cons:
Sights are low and strange to use (for me at least)
Full length guide rod makes disassembly more difficult

Did I miss it? Why no photos of the right side of the pistol?

Great job on the review. I have been watch vids all morning about the Sw1911sc. This has to be one of the top vids. I just told the Mrs. I'll be snagging one of these soon.

That was the best gun review I've seen on youtube, my opinion. Very staight forward video, and all the key points were hit. I like my sw1911sc even more now. Thanks.

+BigAppleGuns I bought one in 2014 (the Performance Center version) and carried it for a couple weeks in a High Noon Holsters OWB holster. I didn't really find that comfortable for carry, as the weapon rode too high for an easy draw.
I recently received my Galco Miami Classic II shoulder holster and I have been back to carrying my PC model, at least until it gets too warm for a jacket. I wore it on a 400 mile drive this past weekend...it was a bit uncomfortable but I think that's the holster's fault.
The weapon is fine for carry, the weight isn't really an issue---for the weight you get a full sized weapon with excellent combat ability. I don't really like the Galco shoulder holster though, it strains my neck a bit, so I plan to sell it and get an Andrews Monarch shoulder rig. Holsters! You always end up with a bunch before you find what you like.

I agree that this is probably my favorite 1911's. I haven't bought it yet though

I carry the upper level of this weapon (the PC model) and it carries great in a Galco Miami Classic II shoulder holster. The shoulder holster does strain my neck a bit, I am going to try an Andrews Monarch shoulder holster next.

I traded this for a P226 Legion two years ago. Worst mistake of my life. I since sold that POS and found one just like my old one in stock. Didn't think twice about it. I put a Wilson trigger in to replace the wiggly trigger and it dropped right in, rock solid. Also installed a wide lever ambi safety (I'm left handed). If you like 1911s this is the perfect lightweight EDC. I would like to see this model in 9mm to play with the scandium frame more nicely.

Great looking piece man. You may have sold me on one of these. I've been back and forth between SW and Springfields. You may not know this, but has there been any issues or history of the Scandium frame cracking or having issues? Whenever I hear 'lite weight" I can't help but question durability.

This handgun actually belongs to a friend of mine and I haven’t seen it in years. But with S&W quality I don’t see why they wouldn’t stand behind it if there were problems. They are a good company to deal with. Thanks for your view!

Sweet review. After extensive research and a couple of out of stock messages I have made my choice for a 1911. I have chosen the E series commander two tone by S&W. I am so stoked to get this firearm. The only thing I can say that disappoints me is that it does not come with a grip laser. Everything else met my criteria. 8+1,bobtail,night sights, two tone. The Scandium frame is a plus. I have watched numerous vids regarding this 1911 platform and the only problem I really had was deciding on the Sig nightmare in 357 or this one. I chose this one for two reasons. The Sig was out of stock in a lot of places I frequent,I am partial to S&W, so it was not that big of a deal for me to choose the E series given the situation. Again, great vid. I should have mine by the end of March 2019. Cant wait to have it in my mitts.

I think (if I remember correctly) the scandium alloy is as light as aluminum and as strong as titanium .

How resistant is the feed ramp to corrosion on this gun?

    • @bigapple0828
      @bigapple0828  9 лет назад

I don't personally own this gun so I'm not sure. But I know the feed ramp is polished aluminum so I would imagine it's not terribly corrosive. Thanks for watching!

It's been 4 months since your video on this 1911. Do you still feel the same about it?

    • @bigapple0828
      @bigapple0828  10 лет назад

I don't own it so unfortunately I don't have a long term test. But the owner of it has been very pleased with its performance. Thanks for the kind words and for watching!

Great Video; I am really thinking about picking one up. I understand that you state it's not your gun. However I am concerned with wear on the feeding ramp. I like how RUGER added a titanium insert on the frames feeding ramp. ANYBODY that owns this pistol; your input is appreciated!

Roberts Firearms I agree that was a smart move by Ruger. I guess it's a question of how many rounds you plan to run through it. If you're only doing a few hundred a year it probably won't matter much. But if you're shooting competitions or defensive courses with it the Ruger may be a better choice. Thanks for your view.

I bought the PC (Performance Center) version of this for $1200.00 used on gunbroker.com. The seller was beyond "excellent" to deal with. Mine shoots a bit low, I plan to send it back to S&W for a lower front sight.
I would like laser grips on it from Crimson Trace.

As for awkward magazine release button: Real street combat rarely lasts more than three or four rounds. Bad guys on the street are not paratroopers.

Your bullet point on accuracy... and then you talk about shootability. How nice.
Once again zero targets at 20 or 25 yards seeing that you were perfectly capable of producing a target 21:05 you were at the range yet never made a single target... not offhand and not from the bench. Nothing.
If you're spending $1,300 on a gun, one might expect accuracy to matter... don't you? You review is inadequate because it fails to properly address accuracy.

"It sounds cool"! LOL! Yes, that's the reason to buy this firearm over others because it "sounds cool." Well, that sounds like a very immature 14-year-old talking.
