If one were to look at the timeline of rap like human evolution, Rakim's lyrical approach is the moment when man begins to stand upright .

    Bri, you're on the path
The next RAKIM reaction has to be "Lyrics of Fury."
That's the icing on the cake 🎂
    Another great reaction.
    Keep them rolling.
    Thank you 😊

Rakim was the pioneer of this sort of rap. Nobody had ever rapped like him before. The alliteration, the internal rhymes, the metaphors, mixing up tempos and extended plays on words. I also recommend checking out the video clip if you can. It really compliments the song beautifully.
Plus, it really rewards repeated listening.
I love seeing people discover this stuff for the first time.
I really enjoyed your reaction and I'm definitely gonna be subscribing. You definitely deserve more eyes on your work. Also, while I'm old as dirt, there are a lot of big gaps in my knowledge of rap history, so I'll be looking forward to discovering them right alongside you.

Love the reaction! Rakim was known as the God MC for a reason! Other notable MC's during this time were KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap and Queen Latifah. I loved this time because hip hop was more up beat and positive. You could dance to it but also learn something 😁

    1. You are reacting to one of my Favorite Songs from My Favorite Emcee The God Rakim
    2. Your appreciation and lyrical breakdown is thoroughly entertaining, informative and enjoyable. Your understanding of literation, lyricism cadences and metaphors brings some new excitement to a classic. Yes he professed the future..
    3. Your understanding of Rakim being the “God-Father” then references the God-Son Nas and others is greatly appreciated.
You now have a Like and a new Sub!! Keep doing this..so many other classics to cover.
Keep up the great work of keeping great hip hop music alive. Salute 🫡 💯

I don't think Rakim created the multisyllabic flow. Kool Moe D changed the way rappers rapped and battled. However, I still think Rakim in the best MC ever.

The way you broke this reaction down is outstanding. You need to set up a power point presentation for some of your peers who are completely lost as far as understanding what real hip hop is all about.

You are the only reaction vid I've seen who gets it! The way you broke the song down by reviewing each line is exactly the way that Ra would want a future lyrical anthropologist to do it. Very well done and as an old boomer I appreciate your work
