  • On this video, the owner explains the joy of owning a 911. It’s different from all the American V8s he is used to. Watch the video to hear the guy fall in with a flat 6 engine.

    You shouldn't be spending more than around 220 bucks for a 997 oil change. It's the easiest oil change you can do. Find an independent Porsche mechanic in your area. I've got a 997.1 and I started saving a lot of money on maintenance once I avoided the high end Porsche mechanics, it's a waste especially for the older models.

      @netu3493 I believe the owner wanted the first check up to be from the dealership. The car came with no documents. No service history.

      @essel23fly, The owner is new to Porsche. He is a Corvette guy. But I’m pretty sure he will find some ways or people to maintain it for less.

      I understand wanting to be conservative and having a professional work on the car, but I have a 997.2S as well and it is absolutely the easiest car I’ve ever done an oil change on.
      Head over to Rennlist and the 997 forum. Tons of excellent articles for 997 maintenance. Just this year I’ve changed the oil, air filters, hood struts, and cleaned out the radiators (by removing the front bumper). Overall this is a very easy car to work on.
      Good video, I enjoyed it!

      @wrxpilot, I think the owner will get his hands dirty soon. He has already changed the exhaust. I think he just wanted the dealer to give him a clean bill of health.
      Thank you for watching! I’m glad you found the video enjoyable.

    5:40 it does not have a dry sump. The GT3 and Turbos do, but the Carrera engines have an "integrated dry sump" which is Porsche's way of making you think it has a separate oil reservoir, but it doesn't, just a multi-pickup baffled oil pan to help with high-G cornering. Only one drain plug, no reservoir to drain.

    I do a full Liqui Moly oil change with OEM filter and new magnetic drain plug for $150. That’s significantly less. It’s 7.5 liters.

      @lewislevits1193 I’ve only had the car for 6 months and I’ve put less than 3,000 miles on it.

    I love my 09 997.2 carrera with almost 80k miles. I just replaced my brakes/rotors $2,000, PDK oil change $1,200, and want to get new coilovers although I want to keep my PASM. For mods I have Tubi exhaust, BMC filters, and am waiting for a evomis tune. Next upgrades for me will be headers, coils/springs. I wish my car had the chrono package although I have sport,sport+,pasm, edc

    I just got the exact same year and model (s) without chrono. Can you please advise if PDK service ($1500) is needed? Mine has 41K miles, and 30K dealer service was done by the previous owner. I would appreciate it if you could recommend other services that are 'must'. Yes, first 911, my dream ride😅. Thank you in advance. Subscribed and liked!!!

    • @JioniDrive
      @JioniDrive  9 дней назад

      @herodtrt5576, I believe Porsche recommends PDK service at 60k miles or 12 years. If you have a metal pan on the transmission, PDK service could have been done. I believe factory transmission pans are plastic. But I will let 911 people give you advice on this. I personally do not own a 911 yet. Rennthusiast RUclips channel and Porsche Club of America channel should provide you with all the knowledge you need. Enjoy the car and thanks for watching.

    Are brakes/rotors something that can be cheaper if you get the VW-equivalent part (as is the case with Audis) or are they Porsche-specific?

    • @joshheinz5328
      @joshheinz5328 Месяц назад +1

      To my knowledge, there aren't many parts that interchange between Porsche and the rest of the VW group, at least from their sports cars. I looked around, and found a couple of aftermarket rotors that were cheaper, but also weren't the exact same size. 997.2S front rotors are 330mm x 34mm, and the ones i saw were only 28mm.
      Would it matter? Probably not, but YMMV.

    997.2 cars are most desirable and rare in 6 speed manual. I believe only 20% of cars from 2009 to 2012 came in a manual transmission.
