- My new Kel-Tec PMR-30 is a lot of fun to shoot and puts out a fireball! You can only see the fire a time or two in the video around my shoulders (too bad I only had one camera), but it still has mild recoil that helps you easily obtain your targets. Mine needs to be broken in some more because it had a couple of hangups, but it should be great once I get several more rounds through it. Beautiful day to be outside!
I had reliability and keyholing issues with mine until I field-stripped it, cleaned, lubed, and reassembled it. I seem to remember a polymer buffer piece that may have allowed insertion in the wrong direction, but don't quote me on that. After this simple process, my PMR30 ran flawlessly. Such a FUN gun to shoot! Subscribed.
That's great! I plan to get this one cleaned up so I can shoot some more. Thanks very much!
@@mrstangblb In the indoor range it makes you feel like Dirty Harry. The muzzle blast is significant while still remaining supremely controllable.
@@TacShooter It is awesome with that fireball!
I really enjoy watching small youtubers like you sharing your experience with guns, thank you for making my day! I hope you upload more and more.
Thanks very much! It's people like you that make it worthwhile. I have more coming, so subscribe for more action!
I've got one I've had for 6 years. Once I oiled up the slide and put about 200 rounds through it, it's been a smooth runner! Love it!!
That's what I think mine will do, too. Kel Tec is pretty doggone innovative!
I have one , the first thing I did was to clean it ! Went the the range and never had a problem!! A good gun and very fast tiger!! I love it !!
And I found out not to use Hornady VMax 30 grain in it. It does NOT like that ammo.
Mine had lots of failures to feed and failures to eject. I had the dealer I purchased it from send it back to Kel Tec. Since I got it back it has been very reliable (provided the magazines are loaded properly). I tried several different speed loaders, but what seems to work best for me is to carefully hand load the magazine, tapping the back of it against the table every 4 or 5 rounds. I just need to show patience because it takes a while to load 30 rounds that way.
It does take a while! I bought an Mcarbo speedloader and look forward to trying it out.
When these first came out years ago I was chomping at the bit to get one but they were always sold out or bringing over MSRP . Since then my interest has waned some but still interested . As a .22 mag lover I was looking at the smith and Wesson model 351 Pd which is an ultra light 7 shot snub nose . I would be curious how these run after they have been thoroughly broken in like 1000 rounds which needless to say will cost more to do than it used to. I was thinking of it for a backup / pack gun . Need it to be light and ammo to be light as well
This should be a great pack gun. Yeah, I hate the days of cheap ammo are so far behind us! I think this one will break in soon enough. Once it got rolling it did pretty well.
I have one of these, I picked it up probably 10 years ago. I have never shot it though because I’ve always been so nervous about the jamming and loading issues. I tend to not like problems like that with my Firearms they approve this gun has a lot of them. Yours seem to run pretty smooth was there some thing you were doing to help the issues? Also nice shooting. I enjoyed the video very much she did a great job :-)
Thanks! Kel Tec's customer service is awesome. If something happens when you shoot yours, let them know because they'll take care of you.
I watched several videos this morning, and I made sure to load the mags correctly. I also put just a little Rem Oil on the slide to make sure it would move freely.
i live near kel tec and know a few people on staff. the pmr 30 requires the full mcarbo upgrade with aluminum alloy the frame support feed ramp, slide lock, safety, put the mcarbo grip, i might talon the whole thing one day, but the grip update works.
i was stove piping rounds and getting upset when trying to run a full 30 round mag, not anymore, 30, 40, 45 and 50 grain feeding well. also, and this may not seem important, get the kel tec speed loader, it is not a typical speed loader, you feed the bullets in from the side and stamp it down...this assures proper stacking of the rounds
@@tomubl2655 Interesting. Does the Mcarbo stuff cost as much as the gun itself? Lynne in customer service has been incredibly responsive and helpful, so if you know her, tell her I am very grateful and I tell every forum I post in about her! Most everybody already knows how great she is.
@@mrstangblb got the MCARBO "All-In-One" bundle for $249.
Ran 50 grainers through it (before installation) with zero problems, but MCARBO'S parts/kits are so good (bought other products before) I got the kit to get ahead of the failures that were sure to come.
Now my PMR-30 with 2 extra mags gives me 90 rounds of security and confidence, though not my EDC.
@@carfvallrightsreservedwith6649 no one ever wants to have to wonder if your gun under fire is going to malfunction, i have full faith in this weap now
All guns even Glocks , makarovs are like shoes ! They must be broke in !!! 500 rounds will do just fine !
Very true! So far so good.
I hope your pmr30 comes around cause mine hasn't and probably wont. there was a problem with the feed ramp having a injection nipple and I didn't trust my hand loading so I purchased a magulula loader for the pmr 30 and it still has a problem jamming, not as bad as before but still jams. In my opinion I will never buy anything Kel-tec sells.
I'm going to try it out this afternoon. I bought one of the little Mcarbo loaders and will see how it does for me.
Things are garbage!!!
Not so far.
