    Grew up a Michigan fan but went to U of Cincinnati. I’m all for improvements and guard rails, but concerned for the little dogs. We can’t lose the pageantry, bands, and history of college football as a whole, and I worry those things will greatly diminish with a B1G-SEC monopoly.

    ESPN (ESEC) is falling apart, Saban retires, 2 B1G teams play in the National national championship, Ohio state is building a superteam. The SEC knows their run is over. I’m not saying they aren’t going to be good. But they know the B1G is replacing them as we speak. 5 years ago they would have never done this.

    Saying Will Howard isn't much better than Kyle McCord is a take that shows a lot of boxscore watching was done with very little football watching being done. His best weapon at Kansas State was a fullback. Also, "Ohio State is pursuing a boring brand of football" by bringing in arguably the best RB in America, a really good QB, and the top QB in the recruiting class on offense and returning 8 starters from the #2 defense in America and bringing in the best safety in the country? Okay then Aaron lol

They will run up the score on everyone and teams will have a very very hard time scoring on this defense. If these new players can gell with the returning players, this team will be historically scary good.

    Fire Warde Manuel. The whole reason you hire from inside the program is to keep the continuity of the coaching staff. That was every pundits argument for retaining Moore. Yes, we'd lose Minter and Jay Harbaugh, but everyone else would stay with the program.

    It's not that hard to figure out what Day is doing. It's not "interesting", it's playing to where they'll be the best at in the upcoming year until they have another QB that's ready to take over and be elite, like the run of QB's they had for 10+ years before last season. They don't have a QB currently on the roster with ANY experience that is Stroud/Fields/Haskins/Barrett level. Sayin or Air Noland likely will be, and one of them will be the guy starting in 2025. Brown can't stay healthy and even if he could nobody really knows how good he can be or if he can even be halfway decent because he gets hurt a quarter into every game he's taken meaningful snaps. And no one knows if Kienholz can develop or be any good. You can't have that entering a year where you have to win to save your job. And a year where you HAVE to beat Michigan.
    Is Will Howard that much better than McCord? I don't know. But I do know he's won a conference championship and as you said he's more mobile. That will help the o-line blocking scheme, having the threat of him pulling it and taking off if they key too much on Henderson or Judkins. It also makes it easier for receivers to get open if you have to drop less guys to keep an eye on the QB.
    Trust me, Day wants an elite QB and they have several coming in the next few years. But the chances that any of them are ready to step in and be elite NOW are low, and he knows they have to win THIS year. So he went out and got a guy that is a blue collar, lunch pail kind of QB that's won a decent amount at this level with FAR less around him than he's going to have here. They have 2 NFL running backs and however many NFL wide receivers on their roster. All they need is for the offensive line to be decent and Howard to do what he did at K State, and they're going to win games. He doesn't have to be Stroud or Fields. He just needs to be the Will Howard of KState in an OSU jersey, and have good ball security.
    Day is banking on experience + some ability to run being more than adequate for this year, especially with the talent upgrade he's going to be working with, plus OH BY THE WAY, an easily preseason top-5 defense on the other side of the ball.

    • @lukeskywalker4223
      @lukeskywalker4223 4 месяца назад +1

      Talent wise...McCord has more talent. In this case, I think its the intangibles that separates the two. Kyle McCord was too soft to be a QB at OSU. Being a QB at OSU is not for the weak as you will take slings all season long no matter how well you play. Just gotta push through it.

    • @TheLwaller09
      @TheLwaller09 4 месяца назад +1

      @lukeskywalker4223 right and that's what I meant with the lunch pail, hard nosed, tough kinda of player. Watching him some the last few years at KState he reminds me of a slightly more polished version of Craig Krenzel. Not gonna blow you away with anything in particular, but the kind of kid that just makes plays a good amount of the time if he needs to.

    This is why Michigan will never be a very top tier 1 type program. Places like Georgia, Bama, OSU, etc would just reload and ride the momentum after winning a National championship; not Michigan, now it’s a rebuild. Very frustrating as a fan but it was fun while it lasted, back to the tier 2 level for who knows how long again.

This year could have been very good if admissions would have allowed two players that wanted to come here instead 1 player went to Illinois and one player went to Arizona that were difference makers if that would have happened Dickinson also would have stayed and that would have been a formidable team.

    Ohio st is setting itself up for a colossal failure. Henderson, Burke, JTT, Sawyer, Hancock, Ransom would all be gone if the draft stock was higher. They are NOT culture guys like the kids that returned last season at Michigan. Egbuka is the only player aside from MHJ that had a chance of sneaking into rd 1. The influx of talent, loaded teams are nothing new for Day! Michigan beat an osuCKS team with 4 1st rd draft picks at WR in ‘21! By the way, so did Oregon & the buckeyes have to go to Eugene in September. The last time ttds lost in September it gave Michigan a blue print that was easy to follow. Michigan will have the best run game in the B1G this fall, yeah, I know who osu, psu & Oregon have returning. Returning production in the case of Michigan is a misleading stat because no team in the country rotated more players. QB is the only question mark & it’s gonna surprise some people. The defensive is gonna be flat out NASTY! If osuCKS doesn’t fix their OLine issues MICHIGAN will be facing Oregon for their fourth Big 10 crown in as many years!
