I've said this before, but it bears repeating.... I wish someone would mention the real Caitlin Clark story. Before the Fever/Aces game today, Caitlin met with 14-year-old cancer survivor Bailey Lux. Bailey had also lost her mother to cancer. Bailey and Caitlin met while she was at University of Iowa children’s hospital. They met in 2022 when Lux was receiving treatments for MPNST. Clark and Kate Martin regularly visited the hospital and met Lux there. Clark spending time playing Mario Kart with her. Caitlin often spends time at the hospital, spending time with sick kids. The Make-a-Wish foundation sponsored Lux and her family to the game as her wish was to see Caitlin play in person. Bailey received an autographed jersey from the Aces and an autographed ball from the Fever. Clark said before the game, “This is what she spent her wish on. How cool is that.” Clark not only did volunteer work at the children’s hospital but at the local food bank, donating NIL money to keep it operating. When Clark was notified of getting AP player of the year, it was at the Children’s Hospital. Why, because she’s there visiting sick kids. It’s not just because of her great play that people like Clark. It’s because of the unbelievably kind person that she is. I’m 70 year old retired university coach not basketball And much of that Division One. Started coaching in 1978. I never watched a women's college or WNBA basketball game in my life. Until this year The reason being I live one state over from Iowa and you couldn't help but hear about her so I had to check it out. Now I see and I have plenty of experience to be able to make the judgment these players and coaches and WNBA administration and the sports writers are absolutely clueless biased and they're idiots. I know how to read stats and I know how to judge abilities. Since the NFL isn't on I'm taking in some WNBA games not just Caitlin but other stards because of Clark. But I can tell you without a doubt if Caitlin Clark isn't rookie of the year where she's denied being on the All Star team because of these worthless reporters that vote I'm done. Angel Reese is not better than Caitlin Clark. Angel Reese is getting rebounds because she can't make a layup she takes two shots and then gets credit for rebounding her own shot twice and then still can't make a lay up and she can't shoot from the outside I've watched them both play. So you were in highschool when Title 9 came in. Perhaps you were conigzant of the mental meltdowns by many, many male coaches. I'll give you a personal example. I attended a small university that had 4 handball courts attached to the basketball gym. The court attached to the wall of the gym was a sad affair. To be able to use it, the debris that had fallen from that wall had to be cleared from the floor. And, "rightly" it was the only court the women were allowed to play on. On Monday nights for two hours. From 10 pm to midnight. Dorm curfew was at 9 pm during week nights. When Title 9 "struck" All of their machinations to get the girls to be their maids were quashed. The head coach of BB threatened to quit if the "girls" team was allowed to practice in His gym. Examples similar to this occured all across the nation. In colleges, universities, high and junior schools. The most interesting I found though was my junior high had to allow the girls bb team to play full court. When I was there, we were only allowed half court, but with 5 player teams. What was the reason we were always given . . ."well, if you girls ran the length of the full court, you would not be able to get pregnant later" Wut? As in WTF? a lot has changed in the past 51 years. A lot has not. Men are still determining the worth of women . . .

I noticed this foolishness as well. It's so obvious when they do it. They're trying to artificially create hype around a player in Reese who has no actual draw. That aside, she has some stats that are laudable, but they're nothing to write home about. She knows how to do what she does best. Whether it means anything or not depends on whoever's analyzing her. I still recall many of the same people hyping up Reese's stats who complained about Westbrook's in the NBA when he averaged double-doubles and triple-doubles for a few seasons. Many saw that as unimpressive stat padding. Westbrook won nothing. I'm not saying that's Reese, but Clark is more of a valuable player all around.
We're mid season, I think, so that ROTY title still has some time to develop. Saying this, if it was right now, then yes, CC should win it, but again, the season is not over.

Coaches are focussing on Reese too to prevent her catching those rebounds, it's just not on the same level as CC but they still want to keep her out of the game. It's about 16% of her own misses that she catches. Let's stop this narrative, Clarck is the better player but Reese deserves some respect too. She's the best rebounder in the league and she's not exactly built like a truck, she has to go up against taller and heavier women.

They're definitely making a much bigger deal about double doubles than they should be. Rebounds and scoring double doubles happen every day, almost every game. I mean if you get 10 rebounds, it's rare that you're not going to score 5 layups. Scoring and assists double doubles are much more rare, you hardly ever see double digit assists. They're definitely propping up Reese, opposing teams are assisting her in getting her stats at the end of games when the game is out of reach. It happened against the Aces and the Lynx that I know of and it's blatantly obvious. I think the fix is in for the ROY award, the black lesbian players as well as in the league administration will do everything possible to not allow it to go to Clark.

Clark is not #1, 2 or 3 in any stats except turnovers. Angel’s overall numbers are better. She’s the only rookie with a positive net rating and the only rookie with a positive plus/minus. That means she consistently has better overall stats than the other rookies.

I am an Aussie with a mild interest in the NBA and don't really follow any team. prior to this year I had zero interest in WNBA but why am I watching this video? It mentions Caitlin Clark. Even people with little or mild interest in basketball recognise her name. Jason is right in that she is a box office but she also has a decent box score. Until the other women around the WNBA realise that she is good for them too, bigger crowds will hopefully mean more investment in their game, then the better off they will be. I don't know if it a race issue and they think she is given special interest as she is a white female basketball player or it just women being women and being jealous of someone who is more popular than them.

Before the Fever/Aces game today, Caitlin met with 14-year-old cancer survivor Bailey Lux. Bailey had also lost her mother to cancer. Bailey and Caitlin met while she was at University of Iowa children’s hospital. They met in 2022 when Lux was receiving treatments for MPNST. Clark and Kate Martin regularly visited the hospital and met Lux there. Clark spending time playing Mario Kart with her. Caitlin often spends time at the hospital, spending time with sick kids. The Make-a-Wish foundation sponsored Lux and her family to the game as her wish was to see Caitlin play in person. Bailey received an autographed jersey from the Aces and an autographed ball from the Fever. Clark said before the game, “This is what she spent her wish on. How cool is that.” Clark not only did volunteer work at the children’s hospital but at the local food bank, donating NIL money to keep it operating. When Clark was notified of getting AP player of the year, it was at the Children’s Hospital. Why, because she’s there visiting sick kids.
It’s not just because of her great play that people like Clark. It’s because of the unbelievably kind person that she is.

I’m 70 year old retired university coach not basketball And much of that Division One. Started coaching in 1978. I never watched a women's college or WNBA basketball game in my life. Until this year The reason being I live one state over from Iowa and you couldn't help but hear about her so I had to check it out. Now I see and I have plenty of experience to be able to make the judgment these players and coaches and WNBA administration and the sports writers are absolutely clueless biased and they're idiots. I know how to read stats and I know how to judge abilities. Since the NFL isn't on I'm taking in some WNBA games not just Caitlin but other stards because of Clark. But I can tell you without a doubt if Caitlin Clark isn't rookie of the year where she's denied being on the All Star team because of these worthless reporters that vote I'm done. Angel Reese is getting rebounds because she can't make a layup she takes two shots and then gets credit for rebounding her own shot twice and then still can't make a lay up and she can't shoot from the outside I've watched them both play. So you were in highschool when Title 9 came in. Perhaps you were conigzant of the mental meltdowns by many, many male coaches.
I'll give you a personal example.
I attended a small university that had 4 handball courts attached to the basketball gym. The court attached to the wall of the gym was a sad affair. To be able to use it, the debris that had fallen from that wall had to be cleared from the floor. And, "rightly" it was the only court the women were allowed to play on. On Monday nights for two hours. From 10 pm to midnight. Dorm curfew was at 9 pm during week nights.
When Title 9 "struck" All of their machinations to get the girls to be their maids were quashed.
The head coach of BB threatened to quit if the "girls" team was allowed to practice in His gym.
Examples similar to this occured all across the nation. In colleges, universities, high and junior schools.
The most interesting I found though was my junior high had to allow the girls bb team to play full court.
When I was there, we were only allowed half court, but with 5 player teams.
What was the reason we were always given . . ."well, if you girls ran the length of the full court, you would not be able to get pregnant later"

I still recall many of the same people hyping up Reese's stats who complained about Westbrook's in the NBA when he averaged double-doubles and triple-doubles for a few seasons. Many saw that as unimpressive stat padding. Westbrook won nothing. I'm not saying that's Reese, but Clark is more of a valuable player all around.

They're definitely making a much bigger deal about double doubles than they should be. Rebounds and scoring double doubles happen every day, almost every game. I mean if you get 10 rebounds, it's rare that you're not going to score 5 layups. Scoring and assists double doubles are much more rare, you hardly ever see double digit assists. They're definitely propping up Reese, opposing teams are assisting her in getting her stats at the end of games when the game is out of reach. It happened against the Aces and the Lynx that I know of and it's blatantly obvious. I think the fix is in for the ROY award, the black lesbian players as well as in the league administration will do everything possible to not allow it to go to Clark.

@@mariamonsegur9403 No they’re not. Caitlin leads all rookies in points and assist. Angel leads all rookies in rebounds and steals however Angel is #1 in rebounds in the entire league. Clark is not #1, 2 or 3 in any stats except turnovers. Angel’s overall numbers are better. She’s the only rookie with a positive net rating and the only rookie with a positive plus/minus. That means she consistently has better overall stats than the other rookies.

I am an Aussie with a mild interest in the NBA and don't really follow any team. prior to this year I had zero interest in WNBA but why am I watching this video? It mentions Caitlin Clark. Even people with little or mild interest in basketball recognise her name. Jason is right in that she is a box office but she also has a decent box score. Until the other women around the WNBA realise that she is good for them too, bigger crowds will hopefully mean more investment in their game, then the better off they will be. I don't know if it a race issue and they think she is given special interest as she is a white female basketball player or it just women being women and being jealous of someone who is more popular than them.
