This is a fishing episode off Key Largo fishing in Florida. We are offshore trolling dive plugs for wahoo. And yes we catch a big wahoo and this is a catch and cook!
After trolling for wahoo we do some vertical jigging and I catch all sorts of fish! A mutton snapper, kingfish, african pompano and some other slimy fish. But those fish won't be in this catch and cook. That's for the wahoo!
This method of catching wahoo should work all over Florida. Especially also out of Miami, Islamorada and Tavernier. Even down in Marathon around the sunken wrecks it's a great method to catch wahoo
What do you think is better? High speed trolling for wahoo or trolling dive plugs for wahoo? I'll say this, trolling dive plugs for wahoo can lead to catching other fish too like big tuna, mahi and kingfish while high speed trolling limits you mainly to just wahoo. BUT you can cover more ground much faster.

Depending on the time of day, trolling your plugs right after first light usually will give you good results. Once the sun's been up for 2 hrs or so ,I , just my opinion would change over to planners with your rigged baits. Every one has a different opinion Heiko. You guys seem to be doing just FINE BROTHER!!! CANT SAY ENOUGH ON HOW MUCH I ENJOY YOU AND DAN OUT THERE KICKING ASS AND TAKING NAMES!!!!! HELL YA!!!
Hi heiko , i am great fan old school of your channel , im from aruba , we usualy fish the wahoo with ballyhoo islanders , 6 to 8 knots now is the high season for them , the past days we are catching them great like 6 to 7 per day and big ones , keep it going with your great video 🙏🤟

How do you cook wahoo?
When I was working up in Dutch harbor the berring sea Alaska at the end of my shifts I always had trench foot… n my feet would be white and wrinkly hahaha literally pour out sweat it wasn’t from the water lol

Hi from Australia brother, definitely not high speed trolling. l know l don't live there but here high speed trolling doesn't exist and plenty of Wahoo get caught and when schools are located, often casting from a drifting boat gets the job done. Heiko, if you don’t already have one you should get a vacuum sealer. Fish will not freezer burn and last much longer. 😊 And your problem in the AM was those hot wings you ate in bed!😂

When we high speed troll before sunrise, we attach those glow sticks right above the lure. We usually use the green/yellow glow sticks. Of course the usual inline lead weights, shock leaders etc and inline double hooks. In answer to your question what to use to catch wahoo, whatever catches them that day 🤙
Nice wahoo catch. A very high percentage of them have trematodes (as they called) in their stomachs. I've also caught ones without any trematodes too. Definitely some weird alien looking shit.
Dan's comment on your homemade jig being the world's ugliest jig had me laughing my ass off. But look at that, the world's ugliest jig catching the finest fish. Reminds me of someone my friends know who is from dead ugly. I kid you not. But he ends up with the hottest girls. To this day we are in awe of his "ugly skills" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I ended up getting a chest freezer too. Needed it for all the fish I caught. You're gonna love it.

Honestly heiko look into the freezers that lock and put it outside under your deck chained to a post so no one can steal it that way you could stock chum blocks for fishing and throw fresh stuff in there right after cutting up. You could also make a cleaning station under there and make own chum from your catches carcasses
