Not hard to believe at all. She’s white, so everyone would call her a “Karen” and have her arrested no matter whether what she did was justified or not.
32:57 I just finally finished Candace's 3 hour podcast with Tate where they're talking masculinity etc... I come here and the guys are arguing over barbie and aliens? Who am I kidding these backstage are hilarious 😂
The Barbie movie showed how girls actually treat Ken when playing. He’s barely acknowledged because he has no wardrobe or fancy car etc. In the make believe world of Barbie, she’s the star, she’s everything and all of the male dolls are basically worthless. No girl ever wanted to play Ken. The movie brought this whole idea to life, but Barbie wanted to leave because that’s make believe - men really are worth everything!

I think Michael is correct in his assessment of Barbie. I think that while Ben presents a solid theory about how audiences are experiencing the film, he gives them way to much credit for any form of comprehension. I believe that the bulk of Barbie fans are going to see it to play cute dress up in pink and pretend that they themselves are Barbie with no intellectual component whatsoever.

I am horribly allergic to mangoes, and it'll put rashes all over me if I use a shampoo or body wash or something with mango in it. This is awesome for people like me with weird allergies.
Michael you were right on! I totally got the same message when watching it. But the key to the success and message of the Barbie movie was how we FELT (wether conservative or liberal) while watching it and after it was over. There were a couple moments in the movie when I just stopped and looked around me and witnessed the looks on my daughters (16 & 17 years) faces as well as the other women (old and young) sitting near us and I was amazed. There was an energy there. Women were crying, smiling… We felt something. I fully expected it to be a liberal, woke movie and what I felt was different so much so that when I walked out I was confused. How could Hollywood produce an anti-feminist and for the most part, non-woke movie. I wondered if I missed the true message. But I guess it doesn’t really matter, the true message is what we each take away from it however different we experienced the movie. I love Ben but he needs to stop trying to explain everything or analyze this movie. It’s something that a man cannot try and figure out. Or try and convince all the rest of us that we are wrong and it was a bad movie. Maybe it was bad for you but it inspired many women. And it was just fun to watch. Not everything in it was great but can’t you just respect that and realize that you don’t and can’t possibly know everything. You are great at so many other things but don’t try and ruin this for those that love the movie. Be happy that it moved us. To be better mothers, daughters, wives. To be grateful for this experience called life.
I got the exact same message from Barbie that Michael got. The movie is art and you get what you take away from it. But it's undeniable that the arc of the movie is that feminism is a failure.
Bretts comments had me want to watch it just as much as Ben's review. Michael's take seems very onpoint, maybe it's such a bad movie they have no idea what they made, or they're genius and Michael could see it.
@geudrychamorro722 I think it's exactly that. It's an emotionally honest movie, which means it accidentally sends a lot that the writers didn't intend to send. I find it reassuring that the rebuke Ben gives to Michael is that, if Michael is right then Barbieland should be destroyed at the end of the movie. But that's not what happens in reality. In reality, feminists, bimbos, and simps just snap out of Barbieland or stay there forever. Barbieland can't be destroyed, only oppressed. Because feminism is just a shallow interpretation of the purpose of womanhood in the grand scheme of humanity. It is also reassuring that Barbie is a fantastic movie because it is stirring up incredible dialogue about the world, and not necessarily the movie.
Maybe it is because he and Michael are such good friends and so opposite on the subject. He did get a bit rough with Michael, who is inclined to be well-mannered.
Writing out Pregnant Barbie may also be a reference to an actual controversy concerning one of Barbie’s friends named Midge who faced backlash as parents complained that it glamorized teen pregnancy because, even though in the Barbie canon Midge is married, they didn’t include her wedding ring when they made the doll. I haven’t seen the movie yet so I can’t speak to how it handles motherhood.
I liked when Ben got all butthurt about Knowles and Klavan refuting his _Barbie_ review 😂 I think his rebuttal was the correct take on the movie, though 👌
@@TAS-gb5ph - I haven’t seen the movie, but don’t you have to go down several levels of subtext to get to Knowles’ take? meaning like, beyond the writers’ and director’s reasonable intention? and isn’t the whole third act just about taking Barbieland back from the Kens?
@@Sam_T2000 I was half trolling. I haven’t seen the movie either. But based on Ben’s review of the Batman movie, as well as his takes on the Star Wars franchise, it’s pretty likely his interpretation of Barbie leaves a lot to be desired
Ray Epps actually told the crowd to, "go into the capital". Some of those who were near him started chanting, "Fed. Fed. Fed." He only recently has been arrested. Yet it was all Trump's fault.
I agree much more with Micheal Knowles’s review about Barbie mainly because Greta Gerwig said that despite Mattel giving them money to make more Barbie movies, she said she won’t make more Barbie movies. That is a pretty clear signal that Greta Gerwig made the movie ambiguous and she is not going to tilt the message one way or another because maybe she is sending a message.
@@valeriapomponio2092 She's writing the new Snow White, not directing it. She's also signed up to direct some Narnia remakes for Neflix, which will probably be as popular with the fans as Rings of Power 🤮
Thank God for men like you guys. And just as important, that you are active and speaking out in media. People who say that real men like these are not attractive are just trying very hard to be relevant in a very lost society. Most women want to be married to men like these and even more important, most daughters would love to have dad's like these. I am assuming you guys give hugs and read bed time stories also. 😂
As a member of the ABC community, I was very proud to see Matt stand up to the bigotry of Shapiro and his minion Knowles. The fact that they only gave six minutes to Matt to make the case for the pro alien side is telling. On the other hand they spend half of a hour talking about the Barbie movie “Really”. Well done Matt Walsh. I look forward to your next movie “What is a alien”.
barbie is conservative feminism. I think thats why a lot of women like it and why some men dont notice it. it has a veil of fun for everyone put it is pushing a message.
The barbie movie reminds me of art during the Soviet Union. It's like the artist wants to make art but is too busy clashing with the propaganda in their mind
It sounds to me that Barbie is an incredible movie by the sheer fact that two conservatives have two different takes. That there are many unanswered questions that must be asked to the creators for clarity. I suppose that’s the take away here… that it’s soooo open to interpretation of polar opposite ideologies that the only way to really understand is to sit down with the directors and parse out these scenes and to demonstrate to them how one could see the scenes in two totally different ways. Of course, that won’t happen because if any hint at “reality” being better than a Barbie feminist land utopia, would be antithetical to Barbie’s image.
Brett maybe, I like her a lot. A fresh, young opinion. And she's lovely. But candace rubs me the wrong way. Something about her, I dunno. But in the other side, I like this "man time" vibe.
I listened to Ben’s take before I saw Barbie, after seeing it, I agree with Michael’s assessment. As a side note, I took my 16 year old daughter (who is pretty opinionated in a conservative way on these issues) and she did not pick up on many of these back points of the movie.

I think his rebuttal was the correct take on the movie, though 👌
No, Klavan and Knowles are correct. Ben is butthurt that he’s not a Hollywood screenwriter.
@@Sam_T2000both are correct and incorrect at the same time lol
Ray Epps actually told the crowd to, "go into the capital". Some of those who were near him started chanting, "Fed. Fed. Fed." He only recently has been arrested. Yet it was all Trump's fault.
I agree much more with Micheal Knowles’s review about Barbie mainly because Greta Gerwig said that despite Mattel giving them money to make more Barbie movies, she said she won’t make more Barbie movies.
That is a pretty clear signal that Greta Gerwig made the movie ambiguous and she is not going to tilt the message one way or another because maybe she is sending a message.
Well, she is directing the new Snow White.
@@timhawley3721no, she’s not
@@valeriapomponio2092 She's writing the new Snow White, not directing it. She's also signed up to direct some Narnia remakes for Neflix, which will probably be as popular with the fans as Rings of Power 🤮
Michael's theory kinda made sense to me, I had a similar interpretation of the film
How hysterical was that Genucel spot Matt did?
Thank God for men like you guys. And just as important, that you are active and speaking out in media. People who say that real men like these are not attractive are just trying very hard to be relevant in a very lost society. Most women want to be married to men like these and even more important, most daughters would love to have dad's like these. I am assuming you guys give hugs and read bed time stories also. 😂
So well said - I have a personal belief the reason Brett Cooper likes Matt so much is because he reminds her of the best dad to have in your life.
I can watch them debate aliens for 2 hours lol
I lost it at " how do we put a timer on aliens and not Barbi?" 😂🤣😂🤣😂
i lost it at the the "i dont have a radar checkmate" XD
I'm kind of coming around to that whole alien thing being a cover for when they just start walking around with their demons
barbie is conservative feminism. I think thats why a lot of women like it and why some men dont notice it. it has a veil of fun for everyone put it is pushing a message.
Don’t let Ben dim your spark Michael. Keep being a queen. 👑Pumpkin spice conservatism is the future. 💅💕💅
“Pumpkin spice conservativism” has got to be the thing I’ve ever heard.
Who is in the frog suit behind Ben at 52 min 45 seconds right side background? Lmao.
I’m in MIchigan & Just last week in the news the article stated someone had a storage container- containing uncounted ballots. 😳
I would have enjoyed this backstage ten times more if Ben would have let anyone finish just one sentence
Theoretically, the company’s co founder should be able to be an annoying little prick who cuts all his employees off mid-sentence, folks
He has terrible manners with these group conversations and he’s the one I least want to hear from.
@@rachelb357 There, there. You’ll be alright.
I live it the way it is. They are all hilarious together.
Nearly fell asleep with Matt during the Barbie entourage. I’m with Matt on this one, we need more time for aliens! 👽
I proposed a Brett-Ben debate on Barbie & it happened (granted, I'm sure it was planned already) so now I want a Matt-Ben demon debate.
When I was little, it wasn’t Ken that was sitting in the Tonka truck it was G.I., Joe😂
I don't drink, but a good drinking game would be to drink when Ben speaks.... 😅
I wish Candace and Brett was in the daily wire backstage
Me too 👍
They need guy time.
They always end up talking over Candace anyway, and Brett? I don't get the fascination, beyond they found Ben's female lookalike.
@@misterschubert3242true
Brett maybe, I like her a lot. A fresh, young opinion. And she's lovely. But candace rubs me the wrong way. Something about her, I dunno. But in the other side, I like this "man time" vibe.
@53:44 random person in the background wearing an alien looking suit 🤣💀
Matt: "how did we put a timeline on aliens but not on this?" lol
Brett Cooper should definitely be a permanent fixture on Backstage
She is cute, of course. But she is so dang bright too. Sincerely impressive.
No
I didn't know who she was. when she walked in the last backstage I legit thought bens sister had walked in.
Within my social circle and what I’ve been seeing on social media, Michael’s read on Barbie is what most people my age are seeing.
60yo and out of the loop?
It designed to indoctrinate 7-9 years old girls.
What age group is that?
@@bennyv4444 - Must be the age of the indoctrinated robots on both sides, and that’s why the country looks the way it does.
I listened to Ben’s take before I saw Barbie, after seeing it, I agree with Michael’s assessment.
As a side note, I took my 16 year old daughter (who is pretty opinionated in a conservative way on these issues) and she did not pick up on many of these back points of the movie.
Censor memes? Holy co, Douglas Mackey was convicted by this DOJ for a dang meme. Why no coverage here about that??????
I love that this video starts with four men laughing and smoking cigars.
Ben’s insult to Michael at 39:55 is amazing 😂😂😂
I love how they all have different takes but I like them all equally
Been a subscriber for a few months now, worth every penny! Really loving JP's Exodus series!
You should look into it but years ago they did a backstage with JP
@@krisward22 was my boy puffing on a cigar too!?
These Backstage shows are fantastic
These men can literally change the coarse of our country.
I love backstage! Late night edition too
This rivals Gutfeld! and I love that show too!
