Choosing lobster ahead of your flight - Classy :) Thank you for the trip summary and detailed view of the food. Appreciate the time taken to film, edit, upload & share with all of us. Hope you are remaining safe during this pandemic.
I've watched this video at least 50x and I wish I could like it each time! It's so detailed and enjoyable. I'm planning on flying Royal Laurel when I retire to the Philippines June 2023. This is one of the videos that has kept me motivated through the years...sometimes I pretend it's me on the flight haha thanks
The meal service is much better than Cathay Pacific business class! Cathay Pacific services Krug Champagne in First Class while EVA Air serves it in Business Class.
No comparison! About 3 years ago, I took CX on a route EWR-HKG-MNL-HKG-JFK. No advance meal selection, although the food served was very good. No slippers, standard in other business classes! They only give socks, which I don't like because they will get wet, and wet your feet, if you step in the mystery liquids on the lavatory floor. EVA seems to tidy up the toilets after every passenger! These EVA seats are similar to Cathay Pacific, in that you can't see out the window unless you lean forward, or use the electric seat slider, which is not allowed during the takeoff and landing, exactly when I want to see outside.
I thought there was a dedicated fast lane for Biz and Star Alliance Gold members? At least I remember using it a few years ago. Maybe it’s not clearly marked?
How did you get the conversation between the pilot and tower control ? Is that available for first class ? Thank you for the neat video.by the way how did you figure out the V1 V2 VR and MTOW?
There are a lot of foodies that watch these videos, so it would be a good idea to write what you are eating, its a big part of the flying experience for a lot of us
Great video. Royal Laurel look nice. Yummy foods and great view on window. I am looking forward to fly EVA in two months. From TPE to SIN I sit on 6 rows window seat. On way back to TPE on row 9 window seat in Jan 2018. This will be my first time to fly on Royal Laurel. Anyway, do you think row 6 window seat a good view?
Huge fan of EVA's Royal Laurel Class. Only bad thing is, when the seat is turned flat for sleep, the flat bed gets more narrow towards the end of the bed. Too narrow for side sleepers that like to spread their legs out a bit.
Fan Hong I was also thinking about this before I chose this seat, however, I wasn't really bothered during the flight. 6A is indeed the last row of aisle A but not the last row of the cabin because there are one more row of center seats behind which means the lavatory is not immediately behind the seat. I hope this information helps you, thanks for watching !
“because Taiwanese Airlines are not allowed to route over Chinese Air Space” This is something I don’t undertstand. Not allowed by ROC government or not allowed by PRC gov’t? TWN airlines already have many direct flights to various cities in mainland China.
Not allowed by PRC gov't, in fact, only certain limited areas(somewhere over Guangxi) are allowed to fly on a flight to a third country. This has nothing to do with Taiwan-China flights, as planes to China are allowed to fly over Chinese ari space for sure. Foreign carriers cannot fly directly through Chinese air space to Taiwan as well, and they have to fly over Hong Kong in order to get to Taipei. (Check the flight route of KL 808 from Taipei to Amsterdam by KLM)
I took the equivalent day flight on December 23, 2017. Everything on board was excellent, especially the ability to advance order from additional items that are not on the normal menu. I chose a delicious lobster, not knowing that it would be served in the shell, which is a little clumsy to eat on an airplane, even in those wonderful seats. My only option for lounge was Alitalia, as the Lufthansa lounge is not yet open at noon. It was horrible with the refreshment area, having only packaged sandwiches, served from a refrigerator, that would be more at home in a convenience store. How did you get a choice of lounges, including Air France? Note I was on a full-fare ticket, not any mileage upgrade. The individual airlines must enroll themselves in the TSA Pre-check programs. Even though I have that and Global Entry, I only fly in foreign carriers, in premium classes, and I have never been able to use the priority lane for security check. Showing my card, the TSA agent said "sure you can, but the line is not open now".
Just subscribe to your channel, thanks for the videos, just wondering what gear you are using, the panning is a bit dizzing.. Been through the same way arriving from Boston connecting to Hongkong thru JFK.
Did anyone find the same quality and service offering by EVA Air coming from a North American destination to Taipei better than say a return from Taipei to a North American destination? Would be curious to find out.
I Tried EVA Air From Taipei to Toronto.. Their Onboard service is really good.. Cabin crew are Really polite and friendly.. Food is delicious... And I really loved their Matcha Milk Tea onboard..
I think you have to be Star Alliance Gold Member to access those lounges, on the lounge pass Eva Air gave me there are only AF/Alitalia lounge availbale for business class passenegers.
Big Elijah I've been to terminal 7 before and there is Tsa Pre. When I asked the Eva Air staff at check in they told me there is no Tsa Pre on that day.
very nice! going to BKK with EVA soon, on the same seat. thanks for the review - very useful! one other question you might answer. how did you manage to get the the ATC/pilot radio communication?
It's really cool! Haven't seen that on other tripreports so far, but was astound that someone even had that data ;) I really have to lookup that website. Thanks a lot!
I simply do not like the reverse herringbone seats. I understand you get more privacy but those small foot wells are a big turn-off for me. Btw I really liked you including the tower chatter.
Been in airports all over the world, and have long since concluded that those in America ranked as the worst - a country that has arguably the highest demand, the longest distance services and a huge budget across the entire field of commercial aviation - yet do it so badly.
Loki I too have been in airports all over the world (excluding Africa except for Johannesburg) and have a different opinion than you. The airports in the US have mostly been well organized and have a lot to do (except for Denver, fuck denver). I mean TSA can be pretty nasty, but honestly I find the security in my home airport (Frankfurt) is way less friendly and kind of Robot like sometimes(except for Turkish ones they tend to be quite nice(Oddly)). I mean DFW doesn't compare to Hamad or Changi, but I like layovers there way more than in Berlin-Tegel or Zurich for example. (And as a tip next Time you fly domestic in the US you should try jet blue).
@@carlosspicy-wiener6727 I've been to the US twice, once for four months for work, when I flew to many states, and once for my cousin's wedding. I have been shouted at, insulted, physically assaulted, rudely refused any assistance for my elderly father on a long, steep walk between gates and discovered that if you're nice and don't rush the crew member giving out hotels on a re-routed flight, you get a 1* motel with dodgy electrics if you're lucky! You'll forgive me if my opinion supports Loki. I am not a troublemaker, btw, I used to work in travel so know how to behave, I never answered back, didn't swear, and none of the abuse I received was justified in any way.
@@fluffyfour honestly, i've never experienced anything of what you just said. I Travel alot and like I said the only bad things I have experienced all were due to TSA.
Fillip Huang For flight from U.S to Asia, the most prevailing routing is to fly over the North Pole since that is the shortest route. However, in order to do that, the aircraft have to fly over the northern part of China depending on where they are going to. When the airlines is not allowed to fly over China they have to fly over Alaska and Japan which is the prevailing route airlines take when they fly back to the U.S because there are usually more tailwind. But if they fly in the opposite direction, there will be more headwind.
This flight I could only manage to survive in business or premium eco. Otherwise I would die in the eco class for how long is the flight? 15 hours? Chinese Airspace- A pain in the ass
Sp3ll633 On that particular day it took 16hours and 10 minutes from gate to gate. However, according to the data on flight aware, this flight could sometimes be as long as 17 hours with strong headwind !!

Fantastic trip report! The food was delicious, and the cabin was beautiful with moodlighting.
Wow! Business cabin on Skytrax's best rated airline! Better than first class on other airlines!
Thank you!
This is a very well detailed review inside EVA's RL. I might have to try one day :)
Very nice review! I wish I could try EVA air soon, their service just looks excellent.
The meal service is much better than Cathay Pacific business class! Cathay Pacific services Krug Champagne in First Class while EVA Air serves it in Business Class.

do they have tape flights in new york airport
I cannot find any highlights of New York JFK airport other than dirty and messy.
Pretty much it
It is so dirty I will never go there
Yup it’s horrible, especially T1 which is unfortunately served by many leading airlines like EVA and Lufthansa.
Muito bom
parabéns pelo Vídeo
so enjoyed thank you!

Did you have to pay extra for the lobster
No, it was all included in the ticket.
@@ShanghaiFlyer wow that's great, in my country New Zealand we send to other countries and we have to pay horrendous prices for a tiny little lobster.
Food didn’t look that good. Not the lounge. Nice touch though of Krug. Only airline I’m aware of that serves caliber in business class
It looks rather good but obviously EVA does not have someone who is fluent in English write the translation of the menu.
To video creater- You must provide feedback concerning seat comfort/bed comfort and food taste and quality. Just showing pictures is not good enough.
