To all my subscribers, it is my pleasure to welcome you back !
Today I am back aboard Asia’s most exquisite carrier - EVA’s Royal Laurel Class as I embark on my longest flight since COVID-19. My journey with EVA today takes me from Hong Kong to Munich via Taipei on the airline’s latest Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
EVA’s 787 features a BMW designed business class seat that offers tremendous comfort for a 14 hours flight. As is always the case with EVA, the F&B program onboard is the absolute highlight - I had the best Japanese meal ever on a non-japanese carrier.

Listening to your pretentious narration was the most fun I have had all day. You sound like an absurd imitation of Jacob Rees-Mogg without the Eton polish, of course. Bless your heart…I will bet in Hong Kong you’re quite the bon vivant.
Amazing review thanks a lot. I flew EVA from Tokyo to Bangkok Back in Novemeber 2019 and I was already quite impressed by the level of everything at that time. Makes me wanna try again to now a long haul experience
Another fab video mate - now I really need to try Eva :)
Great video as always, inspired choice of music for the meal, made it feel like a refined dining experience. Nice work.
There is another lounge “The Garden” which is much higher quality than the one you went to, it is opposite to the one you went to(much more spacious, less people, better food, a bar with better booze and drinks)
What a lovely flight. Your meals looked delicious. I hope someday to fly on this airline.
Awesome review!
Greetings from Scotland. 🏴 Thank you for another beautiful video. The dinner service looked amazing. Hopefully some day I will be able to fly to Taiwan with EVA Air.
AmaZing 👏 😊
787-dreamliner is everything
Lovely review Michael ;) I’m just surprised by the number of meals you had throughout the entire journey 😂 The meal quality onboard looks quite attractive (at least aesthetically). Would definitely like to try this Taiwanese carrier one day :)
Definitely a good alternative to CX in terms of service amenities and F&B. But everything else left a lot to be desired.
Nice work. A very comprehensive videos on the EVA Air, been thinking to try out their HKG-TPE route 🎉
Very informative 😮
I enjoy watching your aviation videos on RUclips for your matchless presentation of the flight experiences in impeccable English. Your refined accent is impressive and most importantly the informative commentary right from the airport lounge to the food served on the aircraft edifies the viewers 😢with a scholarly touch justifying the title of your channel. Wishing you the best in life and thanks a lot for enabling us to vicariously enjoy your travels in the comfort of our homes.
When a video opens with (paraphrasing here) "The charm of a '90's karaoke bar", I laugh out loud, smile, and think to myself, 'It's good to be home with #WonderingScholar." Sixteen minutes of quality escapism is highly underrated and I recommend to anyone passerby reading this -- follow now, dammit.
Wonderful background music to accompany great narration. Your meals looked amazing thought I think the beef noodle was the highlight. Simple meals made with an amazing broth can't be beat.
As always, your dedication and time given to providing a detailed quality video is always appreciated. Good to know your are well. Please stay safe in your travels.
ps: Have you watched the Virgin America safety video? It's a great upbeat video/song and is on par with Tahitian Airlines for favourite safety video.
wow such luxury
Interesting video compeleted watched 👀
I Havent Experience B787-10 Yet,I Like Business Class Cabin On B787-9.Great Trip Report
Most enjoyable video. Judging by the onboard service EVA Air would seem one of the best. I actuallly travelled with EVA Air back in the early 1990s when this carrier first came to LGW. I took the fifth freedom flight LGW-VIE-BKK out in premium economy (EVA along with VS were the first to introduce this product) and returned J class BKK-VIE-LGW, I don't think the onboard cuisine back then was nearly as good as your experience TPE-MUC !
Super la qualité de la vidéo. Ainsi que la musique choisie. Merci beaucoup! ✈️
Nice video
welcome to taiwan and EVA AIR
Really great video and review, as usual.
As a side note how are your studies and everything at Cornell ?
Busy but enjoying the time on the ground !
4:31 Jesus Christ! Bring another carry-on !
You should try Starlux from TPE to LAX in F. Seems like all the good things about EVA pre-covid have migrated to Starlux.
Couldn't agree more with your review. I have flown VIE, MUC, LHR Royal class to TPE several times. Excellent food and beverage. BUT, horrible lounge in TPE I go to the Priority Pass instead and go to the food court for Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup. I also thought of the same, why wouldn't BR revamp their disco themed lounge (the lounge in BKK is even more psychedelic!) and offer at least Taiwanese noodle soup. Great review.
Had same flight in May and it was good. Only bad thing: the limited IFE.
Crew was working hard all night long to serve passengers
Btw: your "Swiss Alps" are located in Austria or Germany.
i flew EVA air 3 times in the same business class between vienna and taipei over last 10 months and i was not that impressed. wifi was not complimentary but for royal laurel travelers at those times, the price was $40. IFE is absolutely terrible with around 15 movies to pick from. Service was good, but as soon as the dinner was finished, there was little to not engagement from the crew if you were not asleep.
they do offer great quality of beef noodle, however only in the Garden.
Do you remember the name of the noodle place at Taipeh airport?
The noodles looked really very good
2 surprises: the Japanese menu
And
The Spätlese . Isn’t that a sweet desert wine?
Wandering Scholar....where are you??
I think their route is designed first and foremost to avoid the Russian airspace, rather than the Chinese, since they are flying over Hainan anyway.
Do you get to enjoy the "sky club" at your destination as well ?
Why did you head into Taipei with a 10 hour layover? The metro goes directly to the airport.
Very good video but when was this filmed as still the masks?
do you have to preorder the sushi set? thanks
EVA Air DO have beef noodles and many other a la carte courses by Ding Tai Fung in their “The Garden” lounge. Don’t miss it next time.
Is that open to regular (non-status) Business Class passengers on EVA Air?
@@MrAirpearlas far as I know, the lounge is only for the diamond membership holders
期待有機會開箱星宇航空(starlux)
ok yaoshin!
我记得从大陆/港澳去台湾转机也是需要入台证的吧?但是现在没有恢复入台自由行,up主怎么办到的?
香港出发不需要入台证就可以转机
I've flown them a couple of times and found them rather middle of the road. Not a bad experience in business but nor did it really stand out to me. And correct about that awful lounge. Made laugh the comment about 90's Karaoke. I hadn't thought of that when I was there but great description. Lounges are obviously not their thing.
The SQ lounge in Taipei had better food offering than home carrier BR imho
It's didn't look like that would be hard to accomplish. The lounge is definitely not a strong suit of the carrier.
Asia still running the COVID show...
Why not get an airport hotel for 10 hour stay?
Does EVA air provide pajamas on this flight?
06:10 what shoes are you wearing, look very premium
Of course I'm not referring to the slippers
10 hours?!
Very fair comment for the poor Eva airways lounge - China Airlines and Cathy Pacific do offer decent beef noodles in TOR.
The lounge for their diamond members is different….
The EVA Air lounge does look like a strip club
EVA reserves the beef soup noodle for their Garden lounge only.
Yes, it's ridiculous.
No great vlog as always
Hate having my seat in the aisle like that
You won't fly over the Swiss mountains when flying from East to West. Austrian and German Alps.
This guy is a piece of work. Why doesn't he do a review of air China international flights? I suspect he's a privileged class of the ccp and criticizes Western airlines and lounges. Keep everything in perspective and reality folks 😮
博主上海人吗
Maybe it’s a cultural thing but on all the Asian carriers you show, the female flight attendants always kneel when they take your order, you never see that from flight attendant on a western carrier.
Why wouldn't you get a hotel for six hours and sleep instead of whining about the lounge?
prolly cuz he can’t get into taiwan with chinese passport
@@kaiyang2857 possibly but there is a capsule hotel before customs. If whinnie the Pooh stopped his nonsense all would be good

Your accent is so affected. In earlier videos you don’t sound like that. Cute though.
what kind of video doesnt show all the seat features? had to downvote...
