  • The 2020 #Buick #Encore #GX is an all-new model, despite sharing a name with the smaller Encore. Prices start at just $24,100 and even our top-level tester carried a price just above $34,000. Buick sells the Encore GX with a choice of two three-cylinder engines, neither of which offers a ton of power. But what it lacks in speed, it makes up for in excellent technology.

Like everyone else (probably everyone else in the world), I trashed the idea of a 1.3L 3 cylinder engine...even with a turbo. I thought, no way I would ever consider that. Then, I drove one of these this past weekend with my daughter who is looking to lease a new car and liked the look of this one, and I was shocked at how good it is. Honestly, if you haven't actually driven this vehicle with the 1.3 engine (we drove the FWD version, 1.3L turbo with CVT), this thing moves out just fine. No, you're not going to win a race against a Camaro. But if you're a mid-20's young lady looking for a solid small SUV to get around town in, to and from work, out with friends at night...whatever...this Encore GX does the job. It's very good looking...especially with the ST trim, quiet inside, solid acceleration and handling, ample storage with the seats folded flat and literally tons of safety features (front end collision warning, lane departure warnings, rear cross traffic alerts, backup camera..etc.). As a Dad, I want my kid to have access to that kind of technology. I totally endorse this vehicle, even though I was very skeptical about the engine when she first considered it.

One of the neat things about this SUV is the fold-flat front passenger seat.....it really increases storage/cargo practicality.

Love my 2020 Encore GX Essence. I haven't had it very long and am still getting acquainted with all the features. The self parking feature is my favorite.
The lack of horsepower, etc. wasn't a deal breaker for me - I'm a 60+ woman and it's plenty quick for life in my midsized city.

Lol you are on corner roads, do a 0-60 on a straight road. I have gotten 7-8 seconds with AWD on and the 1.3 engine.

Bought a 2021 Encore GX Preferred FWD 1.2 w/CVT. Enjoy the smooth, quiet, adequate power/acceleration. I’ve been consistently getting over 30mpg over that past 4,000 miles. Buick had lots of rebates/discounts bringing the $26,000+ MSRP down to $19,240…what a value!

You made a mistake, you can't get the 1.2 with AWD, and you can't get the CVT with AWD.

The 2 Litre turbo with the 9 speed 🚄 auto could be a good combination for this vehicle 🚜🚑?. ? This engine 🚂 option could be a winner 🏆 in its class 😉☺️??.

Great review. I just bought one in the ST, black on black and I love it. Coming from a 2011 Kia Soul, Base, this was a huge upgrade. That Kia had a 4 cylinder engine, 1.2L, and this is putting our way more horsepower. The fit and finish is just a bit above the Teailblazer, and you can obviously tell that Buick added the soft touches and sound dampening that the Chevy doesn’t have. With discounts, I was in the 2020 GX for less than what I could have bought the Trailblazer for, so it really was a no-brainer. I didn’t get the top tier of this model but I did find one with the all wheel drive which will be great come winter in Ohio.

I like the look of this little suv, but where I struggle is the top trim with an ST package will cost you just as much as a Mazda CX-5 reserve.

Was seriously considering one... until Ford released information about the Bronco Sport earlier this week. Think I'll wait for that now. About the same prices as a well optioned Encore GX with AWD and way cooler!

Yes, but that's a base Bronco Sport. You will need to compare them with the same options. But Bronco Sport looks great for sure.

For long commutes...is it better to have a cvt or automatic transmission?

Just a Chevy Blazer with a fancy interior. The other one is a rebadged Daewoo, via Opel.

1.3 ltr turbo. Might lease the car but would never own it. Reliability is a gamble.

    • @carbuzzcom
      @carbuzzcom  4 года назад +1

The reliability should be fine and wouldn't matter as much if leasing.

Is that because there's not enough data for the GX as far as reliability?

Eh shouldn’t be much of an issue Buick ranks in the top 3 or top 5 for reliability among car brands for the last decade and in the last 5years has ranked over either Lexus or Toyota for 2nd place
So ik a 3cyl T with a CVT seems scary but I’m sure it’ll probably get a 4/5 for reliability

    Dear
followers!! Don't let the beautiful pictures confuse you . Anyone who
buys a new car from GENERAL Motors the chance you threw your money into
the trash is very large. In this company there is no customer service,
the company's management does not care at all, if you have a problem or a
malfunction, you can only pray to God there is a chance that the help
will come faster. GM is a very dangerous company, be careful and keep
your money safe.!!!Share so more people don't get screwed.

Zero to 60 in more than 10 seconds. No thanks. I will be looking elsewhere.
