I would argue that the mesh face masks could be useful for putting over disposable face masks to make them go with outfits, because surgical blue doesn't go with every aesthetic.
Moony I find that with fabric masks, in my personal case with the fabrics I tried, they got hotter and were less breathable than the disposable ones and hurt my ears more. Of course, I didn’t think we’d be in this for so long so I haven’t tried more alternatives yet.
But imagine this-- A lace mask, but with a regular mask underneath. Makes even the most plain mask interesting while not hindering your ability to breathe further.

I've actually seen a mesh face mask in person at the store I work at. I was minding my own business and scanning his items and lo and behold I look up and there this mystical person is. He wore a Hawaiian shirt and cargo shorts so we were already to a bad start right off the bat. I thought it was a normal mask until I peered closer and then the realization hit me: this is a mesh mask. If you saw the experiments, you would know that with masks the droplets and transmission rate goes down. Not stops completely, but goes down. Especially for those affected. Without them, the droplets will spread rapidly and cause for infections. I don’t know if your neurons haven’t connected or if you are in the final stage of cyanide poisoning. Honestly the weirdest part about face masks now is that white people who aren’t doctors are wearing them, I’m Japanese (live in Europe) and whenever I’m in Japan people wear face masks if they have a cold so other people don’t catch anything but here in Ireland nobody did that. Now that corona is happening people are wearing masks because they feel it will help keep them safe when most of the time you wear one it’s to keep others safe in case you have something, it confuses me because people are only willing to wear a mask for their benefit instead of everyone else’s, especially when health care workers are risking their health so they can take care of people like us
The reasoning behind everyone wearing the mask is that some people don't know they have it. Rather than be asymptomatic and spread it, there's a blanket rule to have everyone wear the mask. Sometimes people have to believe it will keep them safe to put forth the effort, and sometimes people refuse to use the mask because they don't feel sick and think that wearing fabric on their face is an attack on their rights. Doesn't mean the intent for the masks changes, just that some people believe weird things about it
That difference comes down to overall cultural attitudes. Westerners' worldviews are much more egocentric, so the question to them is: "What will wearing a mask do for ME?" And if they decide that the answer is nothing (which, by the way, it's not...wearing a mask DOES protect you a bit, it's just not a foolproof barrier against all possible disease), then they won't bother at all. That and many other things about living in the US are sad as hell and make me want to leave more and more by the day.
This past week I saw two people that I *think* were wearing these face coverings as a form of protest against the statewide law, but they looked so stupid that the joke was really on them: - a man with a pair of boxer briefs draped over his face similar to a belly dancer's veil. - a woman wearing a pair of those silly disguise eyeglasses with a fake nose and beard attached (the beard covered her whole mouth).

I don't have particularly good circulation, so usually the second it gets colder my nose hurts and drips and uuuuugh, but that's completely stopped by a simple cotton mask! as I type this I'm wearing my mask even though I'm just indoors sewing, and tbh I'm probably gonna make myself a second indoor one that sacrifices some filtration for getting a softer fabric. vive le masque!

I've actually seen a mesh face mask in person at the store I work at. I was minding my own business and scanning his items and lo and behold I look up and there this mystical person is. He wore a Hawaiian shirt and cargo shorts so we were already to a bad start right off the bat. I thought it was a normal mask until I peered closer and then the realization hit me: this is a mesh mask. Since I'm not allowed to say anything to customers about their masks ( trust me I've tried but corprate said no because money) I just stared in awe at this man who just doesn't seem to care about other humans. Alas I was very troubled by this and then he disappeared and I never saw him again.

I took a course on epidemiology. Literally traced the spread of Ebola and multiple other pandemics. If you saw the experiments, you would know that with masks the droplets and transmission rate goes down. Not stops completely, but goes down. Especially for those affected. Without them, the droplets will spread rapidly and cause for infections. I don’t know if your neurons haven’t connected or if you are in the final stage of cyanide poisoning. Unfortunately, whatever the case may be, I doubt you are an epidemiologist and I sincerely doubt you have ever taken a course on it.

Honestly the weirdest part about face masks now is that white people who aren’t doctors are wearing them, I’m Japanese (live in Europe) and whenever I’m in Japan people wear face masks if they have a cold so other people don’t catch anything but here in Ireland nobody did that. Now that corona is happening people are wearing masks because they feel it will help keep them safe when most of the time you wear one it’s to keep others safe in case you have something, it confuses me because people are only willing to wear a mask for their benefit instead of everyone else’s, especially when health care workers are risking their health so they can take care of people like us
The reasoning behind everyone wearing the mask is that some people don't know they have it. Rather than be asymptomatic and spread it, there's a blanket rule to have everyone wear the mask.
Sometimes people have to believe it will keep them safe to put forth the effort, and sometimes people refuse to use the mask because they don't feel sick and think that wearing fabric on their face is an attack on their rights. Doesn't mean the intent for the masks changes, just that some people believe weird things about it
That difference comes down to overall cultural attitudes. Westerners' worldviews are much more egocentric, so the question to them is: "What will wearing a mask do for ME?" And if they decide that the answer is nothing (which, by the way, it's not...wearing a mask DOES protect you a bit, it's just not a foolproof barrier against all possible disease), then they won't bother at all. That and many other things about living in the US are sad as hell and make me want to leave more and more by the day.
