A few fun facts about Supermans creation 1.his backstory about an alien growing up in a foriegn world can be seen as an allegory since his creators are jewish immigrants who grew up when anti semitism was normal 2.Elvis based his hairstyle off Superman
Correction: Elvis based his hairstyle off of Captain Marvel Jr. Elvis was a big fan of the character. Jr even renamed himself King Marvel in, I believe it was, the Kingdom Come universe
Fun thing is, the meme did not started like this, originally was used on jokes where you have so much power but use it for lesser evil or decide not to use it, example "How it feels to arrive home and don't beating my son for not having a beer ready", those were the ones who begin the starman treand but Superman wholesomeness slowly turned it to actual good deeds, and I am very damn glad for it.
“His whole planet was destroyed. He’s the last of a holocaust. He grew up in the dirt. Finding out slowly how different he was. A stranger discovering every day how strange he was. He has the world to tear the world apart. And he could. With a pinkie. It’s not his world. We’re not his people. We should be ants to him. Imagine that. Always being on the outside. The pain that would come from always being on the outside. And yet, he took that pain and became the symbol of hope.” -Batman
One of my favorite Superman moments is from the animated series where he discovered a man on death row was innocent and the real killer tried to assassinate Clark Kent. Superman was prepared to reveal his identity to save the man on death row.
That episode was actually loosely based on his first case. In the comic, he barges into the governor’s house at 11:50 PM with the real killer in his arms and forced him to confess because an innocent woman was about to get the chair in a few minutes.
Superman pulling the internet out of the constant abyss of hatred and toxicity, to shine some light and hope into our lives as he always has - perfect.
I will always love Superman for representing the often ignored truth that the world is home to good people who will stay good despite their ability to bad.
Kindness is not a weakness. Superman and Optimus Prime both show this. Wait. Hold on. Both of them are an alien from a destroyed planet. (Krypton. Cybertron.) Both of them have an enemy who is a moral opposed to them (Zod. Megatron.) Both have red and blue colours.

The JLA series in the 2000s had the right idea; they made a point of showing Superman being hyperaware of how easily he could destroy everything and how he purposefully pulls his punches.
Ironically, this also times well with the Invincible series starting to turn towards being a bloody and shocking series to gradually reconstructing into a genuine good-hearted superhero story despite the harsh reality
It reminds me of those weird podcast guys who say that being a "good guy" always backfires because you get nothing in return. Except this time it shows the flip side, the simple truth that being good to others is a reward in itself, which is how I try to see the world
I'm a pretty cynical guy myself, so seeing the want of genuine positivity in media lately is pretty uplifting. There are so many people that are now realizing how important of a symbol the original Superman was, and another example is how much value people are giving to the Smiling Friends show, an optimistic and uplifting adult comedy which you also don't get to see a lot off
Amazing meme. I'm so glad it got popular. Honestly gives me the vibes of the "No enemies" meme. Thanks for covering this one, definetely one of my personal favorite memes.
the general exhaustion towards anti heroes and dark depictions of the superman archetype has driving people back to the original intent of superheroes like superman, not the desire for immense power but for power to be in the hands of the good. Eventually people will get board of that too again but for now im happy to be on this side of the ever flipping coin.
Somwbody else here said "Life is a pendulum" people get bored of one end and go to the other. typical, and the way humanity has always been in truth. I said being aware of the cycle of man is how you transcend it.
and that my friends is what makes Superman Great. People don't want to believe that people can be good for Goodness Sake. Because they're hiding something is more of a popular belief than to admit that we can bring about good in ourselves because of one persons Selfless Actions.
Especially in this day and age where we're so disillusioned and aware of all the problems of the world and it's easy to give up hope, we especially need Superman and people like him to remind us that we can and should fight for a better future. That's always been his core appeal at the end of the day beyond his powers or costume.
“With the world so set on tearing itself apart, it don't seem like such a bad thing to me to want to put a little bit of it back together.” - Desmond Doss
It feels like we're entering a Superman Renaissance with this, James Gunn's Superman movie around the corner, and the recognition that Superman wasn't "boring" after all
I love this trend. From " Can goku beat superman tho? " To Goku going around saving the fictional verse and Superman advertising hopemaxxing. Its like after their latest dearh battle fight both decide to be more of a help to people.
Sometimes, people forget that it's not wrong to create characters that are meant to inspire us to be better. That message has almost been lost in the age of writers and fandoms being increasingly obsessed with focusing on flawed/grey characters who you can't look up to.
What I love about these memes is that they recognize what Superman’s greatest power is. Not his strength, not that he can shoot lasers out of his eyes, not that he can fly, not even the fact that he’s practically a demigod. But that he is a good person, his greatest power is his capacity for kindness, and that’s what I love about his character. He has immense power that he chooses to use for good in a world that is constantly against him, and that’s wonderful.
I was having a bad day today but as soon as I saw the Superman memes about doing the right thing no matter what. I ended up getting more motivation then those “stay in the grind” or gym videos ever gave me
I think I speak for a lot of us when I say we've had our fill of evil/morally gray Superman (Snyderverse, Injustice, etc) and evil Superman clones (Bright burn, Homelander, Omni Man, etc.). World's full of too much pessimisim, we need the classic, benevolent Superman back.
The entire point of Superman is to be a genuine good person in a world where being good is seen as old-fashioned. And his movie adaptations and the stigma of people against him, proves why we need a character like this. Because through Darkness and Corruption, he is, alone, The Starman in The Sky.
What's up with the internet lately? It feels like everything has become genuinely more positive, and all the shitstorm, whilst not gone, seems much calmer than it was a couple of years ago.
That's a beam of hope, I have this hypothesis that we would be back to the golden era of the internet when things were just genuinely good and cool. It will come to a full circle.
The Superman Starman meme is basically what the Gigachad meme was supposed to be. While Superman memes motivate to be the better selves and glorifies good deeds, the Gigachad meme sadly only serves to glorify insecure people and their bad opinions, as well as normalizes being a jerk
Man, if I was a wizard superhero, I'd throw fun magic shows and instantly cure disease and addiction. All the while healing the earth, maybe I'll build a cool plant bridge to Mars or something.
This might be the nicest meme of the year, and my personal favorite, every time I see it, it makes my day better, and I do really need that inspiring reminder of selfless kindness
People act like superman is boring because they see someone as doing the right thing as boring. Superman is a hero that anyone would be happy to have as a force for good.
That’s exactly why he’s my favorite superhero he has absolutely no reason to do this but he chooses to help people and make them feel safe and warranted his genuine smile and heartwarming character is so fun to read
Wonder Woman: “I am a warrior princess” Green Lantern: “I am a intergalactic police officer” Batman: “I am vengeance, I am the night” Superman: “I am a friend”
As someone who loves gritty and edgy anti/superheroes (Batman, Deadpool, Wolverine, Constantine, Judge Dredd) I very much love the resurgence of genuinely good superheroes like Superman. Superman has always been such a good character when done right, he’s just a genuinely kind guy trying to help the world. I can’t stand this surge of “Superman is only interesting when he’s evil” crowd. Batman is dark (although I think some people take it to far), Deadpool is a murderer, Judge Dredd is literally horrible, but Superman is happy. Strong, but gentle, kind to all without a mean bone in his body. Also he’s not stupid or naive, he just believes that the world can be a better place and that he can help by being the change he wishes to see. His hope and love outshines anything.
Superman is one of the most chill and wholesome characters out there and people will worship omniman and homelander as their magnum opus characters like they want those two living in their world instead of the guy who actually goes to your birthday party when no one else would.
“The universe is cruel and the only constant is suffering” mfs when they experience the simple joy of helping their fellow man for no other reason that they need it:
I wonder how much of this is also a reaction to people’s attitudes towards Zac Snyder’s recent interview on Batman killing, which then in turn had people re-examine Man of Steel and BvS. Either way, I’m so happy to see this meme blowing up and people fully recognizing Superman, whose strength is only matched by hope and his love of people. In times like these, where the mainstay attitude is despair and cynicism (especially Gen Z, given all we’ve been through and experienced throughout so many years growing up), we need to be like Superman and choose hope and kindness instead of despair.
I have a whole lot of hope seeing this, a starman waiting in the skies to help many lives without wasting all of that time for fame, and just rather helping people instead of basking in fame
If I describe my friend I will say "There's a starman, waiting in the sky, he'd like to come and visit but he knows he'll blow our minds, there's a starman waiting in the sky"
There's an oversaturation of Edge in media these days that someone with honest and genuinely good intentions is refreshing.
Wouldn't be surprised if there would be a wave of "optimism posting" that would happen. Would love to see that though

Funny thing is how badly out of character they make Clark or his friends to create these "evil Superman AUs", not counting the literal opposite ver. from The Crime Syndicate.
Injustice (comics) has Bruce be an ass & downright turn on Clark when Clark came to him for emotional support. Diana got turned into a warmonger who drove Clark down the path of a tyrant for no reason. One of the worst cases was Barry though. He was turned into a coward who blindly looked to Superman, cause he was incapable of thinking for himself.

A few fun facts about Supermans creation
1.his backstory about an alien growing up in a foriegn world can be seen as an allegory since his creators are jewish immigrants who grew up when anti semitism was normal
2.Elvis based his hairstyle off Superman
Pretty sure Superman predates Elvis

Fun thing is, the meme did not started like this, originally was used on jokes where you have so much power but use it for lesser evil or decide not to use it, example "How it feels to arrive home and don't beating my son for not having a beer ready", those were the ones who begin the starman treand but Superman wholesomeness slowly turned it to actual good deeds, and I am very damn glad for it.
This is sort of a callback to what superheroes were originally-stories of hope.
It's not just an S.
And yet, he took that pain and became the symbol of hope.”
-Batman

(Krypton. Cybertron.)
Both of them have an enemy who is a moral opposed to them (Zod. Megatron.)
Both have red and blue colours.

Thanks for covering this one, definetely one of my personal favorite memes.
the general exhaustion towards anti heroes and dark depictions of the superman archetype has driving people back to the original intent of superheroes like superman, not the desire for immense power but for power to be in the hands of the good. and that my friends is what makes Superman Great.
People don't want to believe that people can be good for Goodness Sake. Because they're hiding something is more of a popular belief than to admit that we can bring about good in ourselves because of one persons Selfless Actions.
I've always had a soft spot for Superman because he's a genuinely good guy. He's a symbol of hope and inspires all of us to do better every day.
They also give me hope! I’m hoping this starts a shift back to being wholesome and being genuinely good as something to aspire to
Especially in this day and age where we're so disillusioned and aware of all the problems of the world and it's easy to give up hope, we especially need Superman and people like him to remind us that we can and should fight for a better future. That's always been his core appeal at the end of the day beyond his powers or costume.
“With the world so set on tearing itself apart, it don't seem like such a bad thing to me to want to put a little bit of it back together.” - Desmond Doss
I was wondering when you’d cover this, finally bruh
It feels like we're entering a Superman Renaissance with this, James Gunn's Superman movie around the corner, and the recognition that Superman wasn't "boring" after all
It's easy to hate on Superman until you're exposed to the true evils of the world, and realize that we all need more of what Superman represents
I love this trend. From " Can goku beat superman tho? " To Goku going around saving the fictional verse and Superman advertising hopemaxxing.
Its like after their latest dearh battle fight both decide to be more of a help to people.
Goku and Superman wouldn’t even fight for any reason besides fun. They’d probably be best friends.
Sometimes, people forget that it's not wrong to create characters that are meant to inspire us to be better. That message has almost been lost in the age of writers and fandoms being increasingly obsessed with focusing on flawed/grey characters who you can't look up to.
It's been a long time since we saw such a positive trend and we are all here for it
Being a good person takes more effort than being evil. It's like how creating is harder than destroying. That's why I respect it
What I love about these memes is that they recognize what Superman’s greatest power is.
Best trend ever

World's full of too much pessimisim, we need the classic, benevolent Superman back.
Superman is unbreakable hope personified
The entire point of Superman is to be a genuine good person in a world where being good is seen as old-fashioned.
And his movie adaptations and the stigma of people against him, proves why we need a character like this.
Because through Darkness and Corruption, he is, alone, The Starman in The Sky.
Honestly superman vs the elite shows this off perfectly
You need the heart of Clark Kent to be Superman 🗣‼
Wonder Woman: “I am a warrior princess”
Green Lantern: “I am a intergalactic police officer”
Batman: “I am vengeance, I am the night”
Superman: “I am a friend”
I can’t wait for the new Superman movie and I hope it does his character justice as an overall good person
He's my favorite superhero since I was a kid. Man this makes me happy.
"How did you know you were bullet proof?"
"I didn't, I just knew you weren't."
"It's about doing what's right because it's right. That's the only reason you need"
He’s an alien, yet he’s more human than us
As someone who loves gritty and edgy anti/superheroes (Batman, Deadpool, Wolverine, Constantine, Judge Dredd) I very much love the resurgence of genuinely good superheroes like Superman.
I ain’t reading allat
Finally, Some good Wholesome Memes
Superman is one of the most chill and wholesome characters out there and people will worship omniman and homelander as their magnum opus characters like they want those two living in their world instead of the guy who actually goes to your birthday party when no one else would.
THIS MEME UNDERSTANDS SUPERMAN MORE THAN ZACK SNYDER DID
Zack Snider: Superman is boring, so I made my version of him.
Superman: Good job buddy
the funniest part of those that go "if I had powers I'd be like them" is that Omniman ended redeeming himself and becoming good
“The universe is cruel and the only constant is suffering” mfs when they experience the simple joy of helping their fellow man for no other reason that they need it:
I wonder how much of this is also a reaction to people’s attitudes towards Zac Snyder’s recent interview on Batman killing, which then in turn had people re-examine Man of Steel and BvS. Either way, I’m so happy to see this meme blowing up and people fully recognizing Superman, whose strength is only matched by hope and his love of people. In times like these, where the mainstay attitude is despair and cynicism (especially Gen Z, given all we’ve been through and experienced throughout so many years growing up), we need to be like Superman and choose hope and kindness instead of despair.
This just proves that cutural interest is just a flat circle.
