BUYER BEWARE: I bought a Dell 9370 a year ago and it has always had two main problems: 1. The Bluetooth adapter fails every couple of days: a complete reboot fixes it, but it is really annoying; 2. The mouse pad feels nice but is way to sensitive, e.g. it registers two finger scrolls as clicks all the time, to the point where I need to use a mouse with my laptop or carefully position my cursor to blank spaces before scrolling. Dell releases lots of driver updates, and the above problems do seem to be common, which was why I hoped that would have addressed this now. Of course I could pay to have it sent away, only for their technicians to say that they cannot replicate the problem, but the point is that this kind of thing should be as common as it is when you spend this much on a premium laptop.
You can work on your premiere project on this laptop when on the go, and export the movie from a more powerful laptop back at base. And if you really have to, 8 minutes longer export on this is not a big deal.
Against Huawei MB X pro. Pro: keyboard (slightly), rubber palm rest I like. That's it. I cannot see how the xps line can improve. Huawei and next gen Surface will displace the xps.
im currently waiting for the xps 15 OLED to come out, but i'll be going overseas at the end of April and i'll be needing one before then, so it's definitely pushing it, but if I am not able to get the oled I was definitely thinking about this one. HDR is a pretty important thing to me so I was wondering, when you say it has proper dolby vision, does that mean I can turn HDR on within windows and watch my 4k HDR downloaded movies?
If it has the same network card as last years edition, I would give advice for people to look elsewhere, it is mainboard soldered, and non swappable. Misses signals my galaxy tab picks up with ease, forums are awash with disgruntled customers with dells poor choice of wifi card. Cannot understand dells mentality going with the same chip, given the price premium. Another question, does the screen wake from sleep unlike the 9370, forcing a hard reset each time. These little things matter, and are not explored by reviewers, until purchased by a customer.
I have the 9370, got it refurbished from the UK Dell outlet. The spec is great i5 8350u, 16gb ram, 256gb SSD and 1080p touch!!!! A spec that does not seem to exist but somehow I have it. Absolutely amazing but recently developed a fan noise (sounds like it is catching) but the said I can't remember hearing it today...
Open it up. I had this issue and was due to a label they put near the fan getting caught on it. Just move or remove that (this was the 9360 model but bet same issue!)
Why not just put a Pixel 3's front camera or a similar one?! If samsung can do it on phones why can't dell do it on laptops which cost the same or twice as much? Does the camera hardware way on a phone cost so much that they cannot put it in a laptop that costs the same? One good reason and not an excuse will suffice!
The day they make the lid carbon fiber the price will go up by 200-300 dollars and also I bought the XPS 13 and the aluminum actually has a shine to it as if they put a few silver or gold flakes in the paint.
Never buying a Dell again. I have the first gen XPS 15" and it always has BSOD and when it heats up the battery expands and make the trackpad unusable!!
I think you forgot to talk about one of the most important things when it comes to not having a dGPU. It has thunderbolt 3 support for external GPU! I personally think it's better to have no dGPU in a thin and light and have thunderbolt 3. If I want to be doing gaming or heavy editing on the go I would not go for a 13" but at least a 15", where it would make more sens to have a dGPU there. Also 4k is useless on a 13" display, 1080p is the way to go.
@@Thetechchap Not many I guess, but my argument is also valid for people using both a laptop and a desktop. Though I feel like the xps 13 is really targeted towards the use of an eGPU because if not I think that TB3 and the i7 are not very useful. You'd be better off buying a 13" with no TB3 and an i5 if you're not doing heavy work on the go, and I'd recommend a 15" with i7, and dGPU if you are. TB3 makes the price go up. 15" gives you the extra comfort of using a bigger screen and usually a better cooling system. Though I do agree that most people are better off buying the i5 version as you mentioned.
This was exactly my setup with a XPS 13 9360 (only 2 lane but seems fine) only thing I’d say against this was that the XPS sounds like it’s taking off when pushing that i5 15 watt and gave off a lot of heat (probably throttling). I’ve since swapped this to a Mac mini i5 2018 dual boot and it’s awesome. Do think it’s an option for casual gaming or those looking to save space and future proof. TBH though I’ve got a RX580 and even the student offer of £150 for HP Omen accelerator meant this came to £400. Cards come down in price post mining so seen a full 2600 pc setup with same card for £500 this week. One thing I do like with eGPU is can link to Mac OS or windows or Linux and just swap the GPU (team green for Linux...trust me!) also the HP has a HDD caddy inside it for games!
Exactly! For me the 2018 XPS 13 form factor is ideal especially when travelling a lot for work.. And I do some light work on flights and watch a movie... rather than carrying an bulky laptop just for those occasions to play a game... and in regards to video editing I have my workhorse an 2018 MacBook pro15..
Guess I'll be sticking with my Dell XPS 13 9350 Iris Edition, just swapped the wifi chip to a Intel 9260. Still going strong and perfect for software developers who don't game at all😅. Still get like 6-7 hours of battery life out of this and is about 2.5 years old and I use it for about 8+ hours daily.
I tried a friend's Matebook X Pro. I do like the 3:2 ratio for reading documents, and the screen feels nice, but it's just a bit too heavy. I'm using the XPS 9343 which weighs about 1.2 kg/2.7 lbs and I'm not willing to go any heavier than that. Besides, I feel that the Matebook just tries too hard to copy the Macbook's look and feel, and yet still can't quite match up to Apple's finish on their products. So my current options are: Dell XPS 7390 Comet Laket in white (hopefully smudges won't be an issue anymore), Thinkpad X1 Carbon (so light! and the keyboard! But seems to have inconsistency in quality control) and a refurbished Macbook 12, whose form factor I just love, but seems a little weak in the specs.
The 3:2 aspect ratio is so appealing that it made me turn a blind eye and get one of the only 2 available choices with it. Microsoft laptop. Dell should think of the 3 by 2 also. It is a nice laptop though.
Since I have to save up anyway, I'm going to wait for the 2020 XPS 13 9390 which should have 10nm Ice Lake chips with Gen 11 graphics. I would really like to see a 1080p touch screen option as I've found touch to be so useful and it would save on battery life compared to 4K touch. I also prefer 16:9 over 3:2.
I love your videos very helpful. I watched the comparison video with the MacBook from last year as well as some others because I am having this exact debate right now. What would you say to those people who say, well the MacBook will last for twice as long, 8-10 years at the same functional level. So then saying the price of them is really the same? I’m so torn.
I wouldn't say 3x2, but I'd quite like to see 16x10 make a comeback. It's a great resolution to develop and work in. Shame 1920 x 1200 or higher equivalent ratio screens are so bloody expensive compared to the bog standard 1080p.
XPS 13 (2018) or Yoga C930? XPS looks more aesthetic but i kinda like 2-in-1 factor in C930. Both are going for almost the same price over where I live.
SC Parker dell, I had Asus zenbook, but the touchscreen is dead, I have already gone to the service center 4/5 times, but they couldnt solve the problem. That is in my opinion.
Why would you pounce on a thin and light for not being good a gaming? It's not made for that purpose, and even if you wanted to, buy a eGPU with the thunderbolt 3 port it does have.
How would you compare this to the new Razer Stealth 13 (with Nvidia MX150 GPU/4KTouch/16GB RAM/512 GB) vs the new Dell XPS 13 (with same specs but Intel UHD 620 Graphics)? I have been in complete limbo between the 2 laptops. I am in marketing and do a bit of graphic design, content creating/editing and photography. I have been a Dell user for a long time, my 2 deciding factors have basically come down to Port availability and will or will not the Intel UHD 620 be enough for for what I need it to do.
Hey man you're good at your work but you're not covering the whole thing i don't mean the specs of a pc i mean you should also consider reviewing best corei5/i3 gaming laptops as well.coz just so you know not everyone is rich but i love your reviews......😍
Could I have some advice please? Which would perform better for gaming? Dell XPS 13 9380 or Huawei Matebook X Pro? As the fans are continuously working really hard each time I'm run an online game on the XPS.
I'm still rocking the 2018 with the 1080 display... I don't like touchscreens on my laptops! It still goes and the battery life is superior! Perfect size for travel.. The webcam I never use so I won't miss it but granted it should be at the top indeed... Windows hello I also don't use as I simply don't trust it, I am one of those people that covers their webcam... I'm sticking with it till it dies or Apple updates their 12" MacBook with their own processor... My estimation would be 3 years till the battery shows significant wear or it becomes too slow.... The new all white colour does look really good... I'm using an Dbrand skin in matte black for ultra stealthiness... Many people have been asking me what computer I was using... Which is pretty cool as you can cover the brand logo as well.. This is my proprietary work laptop and the lightness is an important thing for me. Also it is my first windows device since years after moving to Apple... But not be able to integrate this device in my apple eco system is becoming an pain.. so even though I highly regard this device the next update to replace this one will be an Apple 12" ideally with bootcamp and alongside an 2018 MacBook Pro 15 for heavy duty work and an new iPad pro coming soon that will replace the old 2010 MBP for leisure... and to play around with and to keep my workflow streamlined... without using an USB stick all the time to transfer files... And the aspect ratio I prefer 16:9 because of this, the XPS 13 has an 13 inch display but an 11 inch form factor... If you work on a plane it fits perfect on your stand, and the 3:2 would be too high and bulky... So I prefer as it is right now...
So I went to the Microsoft Store and started playing around with this laptop. Wasn't a fan of the trackpad and there was a noticeable lag/stutter when clicking on the start menu and scrolling. I was just about to buy this laptop as it has powerful specs, sub 15 inch, and it utilizes a Thunderbolt 3 with x4 PCIe. But Just wasn't digging this compared to the smoothness of sate Matebook.
okay, I am looking for a laptop. but I am confused about which one should I buy either Huawei or dell. I wanna buy something in which I can use everything either playing games or doing some work by work mean video editing and other stuff so which one do you prefer? I also take care of the style so keep that in mind and tell me? Thanks!
Why would anyone buy a Huawei laptop? Moreover the Matebook X looks like a Macbook Pro rip off! Thats what most Chinese maufacturers do. They offer the same specs but with a slight poorer build quality and then undercut Apple products to make it seem as if Apple is ripping off customers. i honestly would get the XPS 13 because it is the most futureproof laptop on the market if you like using that term
Why dell has changed the layout of a keyboard? Home/End buttons reside far away from arrow buttons, Page up/Page down could be easily misused with left/right arrow buttons. This is very impractical for editing textual information.
I want to buy the Dell XPS 15. The 4k touch, 32gb ram, 1tb storage but I don't know if I should get the I7 or the I9. Price doesn't matter. I am scared that the I9 will overheat or thermall throttle. Am am planning on using Photoshop, illustrator, Premier Pro, Corel Draw, Some Fortnite and basic computing things. So, should I get the I9 or the i7 Can you suggest other laptops that you think is better or as good as this one.

1. The Bluetooth adapter fails every couple of days: a complete reboot fixes it, but it is really annoying;
2.
The mouse pad feels nice but is way to sensitive, e.g. it registers two
finger scrolls as clicks all the time, to the point where I need to use
a mouse with my laptop or carefully position my cursor to blank spaces
before scrolling.
Dell releases lots of driver updates, and the above
problems do seem to be common, which was why I hoped that would have
addressed this now. Of course I could pay to have it sent away, only for
their technicians to say that they cannot replicate the problem, but
the point is that this kind of thing should be as common as it is when
you spend this much on a premium laptop.
You can work on your premiere project on this laptop when on the go, and export the movie from a more powerful laptop back at base. And if you really have to, 8 minutes longer export on this is not a big deal.
i prefer no dedicated graphics, saves battery life and ultra portables aren't made for gaming anyway
Against Huawei MB X pro. Pro: keyboard (slightly), rubber palm rest I like. That's it. I cannot see how the xps line can improve. Huawei and next gen Surface will displace the xps.
I agree it's falling behind a little, needs a design refresh and dedicated graphics. Would have liked you to review the white one!
im currently waiting for the xps 15 OLED to come out, but i'll be going overseas at the end of April and i'll be needing one before then, so it's definitely pushing it, but if I am not able to get the oled I was definitely thinking about this one. HDR is a pretty important thing to me so I was wondering, when you say it has proper dolby vision, does that mean I can turn HDR on within windows and watch my 4k HDR downloaded movies?
Great job man, keep up the great work!
Im learning graphic designing. Is this good for that purpose?
It was an amazing review video, thank you so much!
That's a great question!
Thanks mate! I hope the companies deliver an answer rather quickly directly into the market and not on social media! Love your videos btw👍
I was wondering the same myself - even the front camera from a phone as 'far back' as the Galaxy S8 would surely have done the job.
Would you suggest the Dell XPS 15 or Matebook Pro X for 4k Proffesional video editing on Premiere Pro?
The day they get rid of the silver lid, and do something like, full carbon fiber like the deck, that day, I'm going to buy it, no questions asked
@Stale NFS Nope, for the color choice of the manufacturer, I like black laptops, what's wrong about it?
The day they make the lid carbon fiber the price will go up by 200-300 dollars and also I bought the XPS 13 and the aluminum actually has a shine to it as if they put a few silver or gold flakes in the paint.
hey man, can u please send us a link to that awesome desktop background? :)
That's a good point. But I wonder how many people actually use eGPU's
The XPS 13 + Shadow PC, it's just insane !
Waiting for 500k!!🔥🔥
Me too 😊
Guess I'll be sticking with my Dell XPS 13 9350 Iris Edition, just swapped the wifi chip to a Intel 9260.
Still going strong and perfect for software developers who don't game at all😅.
Still get like 6-7 hours of battery life out of this and is about 2.5 years old and I use it for about 8+ hours daily.
16:9 for content consumption and 3:2 for productivity.
agree with you!
Good job as always
I’m waiting for Matebook13 Reviews
i subscribed because i definitely want to see more of your stuff...
Thanks for the great review, Magneto. Subbed.
When will the xps 15 get the frost white and camera at the top?
The 3:2 aspect ratio is so appealing that it made me turn a blind eye and get one of the only 2 available choices with it. Microsoft laptop. Dell should think of the 3 by 2 also. It is a nice laptop though.
Hey tech chap, really love your reviews😍
Thank you!
How is the color accuracy of the XPS Full HD version for photo editing?
I got the slightly older model with Ubuntu on it. I love it. Would absolutely recommend this laptop with either OS.
I’m so torn.
picked up the surface laptop 2 instead after cross buying with the xps 13. my wife has the xps and i love both
Qinxian Tan, and which one do you prefer between Xps13 and Surface laptop 2??
A new version of the matebook x pro?! When do you think it will lauch?
I wouldn't say 3x2, but I'd quite like to see 16x10 make a comeback. It's a great resolution to develop and work in. Shame 1920 x 1200 or higher equivalent ratio screens are so bloody expensive compared to the bog standard 1080p.
This or Huawei's Matebook 13?
XPS 13 (2018) or Yoga C930? XPS looks more aesthetic but i kinda like 2-in-1 factor in C930. Both are going for almost the same price over where I live.
I am struggling which brand is right for me to use, like Asus and Dell...
SC Parker dell, I had Asus zenbook, but the touchscreen is dead, I have already gone to the service center 4/5 times, but they couldnt solve the problem. That is in my opinion.
Gonna buy one December/January. COOL.
Why would you pounce on a thin and light for not being good a gaming? It's not made for that purpose, and even if you wanted to, buy a eGPU with the thunderbolt 3 port it does have.
Imo better to have a seperate more powerful graphics card and keep the small form.
god that stormtrooper wallpaper is incredible.
I’m just looking for a damn laptop for college
GaryWinthorpeFan69 same bru currently thinking about getting the 2018 mbp 13”
How would you compare this to the new Razer Stealth 13 (with Nvidia MX150 GPU/4KTouch/16GB RAM/512 GB) vs the new Dell XPS 13 (with same specs but Intel UHD 620 Graphics)?
I have been in complete limbo between the 2 laptops. I am in marketing and do a bit of graphic design, content creating/editing and photography. I have been a Dell user for a long time, my 2 deciding factors have basically come down to Port availability and will or will not the Intel UHD 620 be enough for for what I need it to do.
Would've loved the MX150 in this but I guess I'm going with the Zenbook S13
Thoughts on Lenovo X1 Carbon?
Great review as ususal! :) I was wondering how did you get your screensaver of the stormtrooper on your pc??
Hey man you're good at your work but you're not covering the whole thing i don't mean the specs of a pc i mean you should also consider reviewing best corei5/i3 gaming laptops as well.coz just so you know not everyone is rich but i love your reviews......😍
Could I have some advice please? Which would perform better for gaming?
Dell XPS 13 9380 or Huawei Matebook X Pro?
As the fans are continuously working really hard each time I'm run an online game on the XPS.
What laptop do you reccomend for designing, 3d modeling, photoshop etc. For school
3:2 always. Thanks for the vids! LG gram 17" review if possible please!
Can you make a review for the 2020 XPS 13?
I prefer 16:9 because 3:2 has the large horizontal black bars when watching youtube - something I find myself doing entirely too much of these days.
Honestly, I'd love for you to review the Xiaomi laptops
See what you think of them and their value proposition
Thanks!
how do I connect this XPS 13 to two monitors for having two additional screens.
So it'll be 3 screens: Laptop (1), Monitor A (2), Monitor B (3)
Between Dell XPS 13 and Huawei mate book X pro,, which one do you recommend?
Why would anyone buy a Huawei laptop? Moreover the Matebook X looks like a Macbook Pro rip off! Thats what most Chinese maufacturers do. They offer the same specs but with a slight poorer build quality and then undercut Apple products to make it seem as if Apple is ripping off customers. i honestly would get the XPS 13 because it is the most futureproof laptop on the market if you like using that term
Would you prefer this over the Lenovo Yoga 730 or Asus Zenbook 15?
Why dell has changed the layout of a keyboard? Home/End buttons reside far away from arrow buttons, Page up/Page down could be easily misused with left/right arrow buttons. This is very impractical for editing textual information.
I am saving 😍 This will do nicely for uni.
Charlotte Casey get the matebook x pro
I want to buy the Dell XPS 15. The 4k touch, 32gb ram, 1tb storage but I don't know if I should get the I7 or the I9. Price doesn't matter. I am scared that the I9 will overheat or thermall throttle. Am am planning on using Photoshop, illustrator, Premier Pro, Corel Draw, Some Fortnite and basic computing things.
So, should I get the I9 or the i7
Can you suggest other laptops that you think is better or as good as this one.
When can I buy a laptop without a camera? I've never used it before.
Is the 4k worth on this laptop? I heard theres problems that comes with it in the long run 🤔
