Fun fact about this game - despite Detroit's reputation as the "Bad Boys" they mostly won this game due to the huge number of fouls committed by the Bulls. The teams in the league now with the highest fouls on average commit about 22 personal fouls a game - the bulls in this game committed 32 fouls (to the Pistons' 21) and the Pistons made 31 points from free throws (to the Bulls' 20) - a full 36% of all the points they scored. Bill Laimbeer only committed 1 foul this game - Pippin fouled out and Jordan and Craig Hodge each had 5.
Shooting by Detroit was terrible this game - as it often was. Zeke heaved up 20 shots and only made 9, with only 6 assists and only one 3. None of the other Pistons who took more than 2 attempts shot anywhere close to even 40%, even the big men. Despite a bad night from Jordan without the officials Detroit would have been crushed.

Without the officials? 9 out of 20 from the field a bad percentage? "Only" 6 assists in an 86 points game? Isiah had 27 points and 6 assists participating in almost half of the points of the team. 8/10 from the free throw line, hit the only 3 attempted. The Bulls had 39% from the field, the Pistons 36%. The refs? C'mon man...

      Dumb ass commentary.
Isiah made 9 shots and missed 11 and you act as if that's terrible.
MFers today shoot 20 3 pointers (see Steph Curry), missed 13, make 7 and clowns rave over that shit.
The Pistons won that game because they played smarter than the Bulls.
But for the record, you had shit wrong
Isiah had 27 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists.
Not only do I have this game on tape, I have the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press newspapers from that game in my collection.
      Hater!
Isiah Thomas hit jumpers to end the first half and to end the 3rd quarter.

People have revisionist history about Michael Jordan and the 1989 playoffs.
Chicago upset Cleveland in the first round and New York in the second round because Jordan played point guard against Mark Price and Mark Jackson.
In the conference finals he met Isiah Thomas who lit his ass up for 33 in Game 2, almost a triple double in Game 4 (27-10 rebounds and 8 assists) and 34 in Game 6.
    They forget those facts.

We can't leave out Rodman though. He had 0 points and 25 rebounds. Rodman was a rebound master

What's revisionist history about it? The 1989 Pistons were way more talented than the 1989 Chicago Bulls. Does anyone think the Bulls should have been favored or should have won? Pippen and Grant were still raw role players at that point.

@@purplemonkeydishwasher4241 Chicago choked away a 1-0 lead and a 2-1 lead because each game they had a chance to take control of the series, Isiah Thomas got all up in Jordan's mix and took over that series.
People act like they forgot that he decided to play point guard in the playoffs and realized Isiah Thomas wasn't Mark Jackson or Mark Price..
That's the revisionist history folks like you tend to ignore.
