    I just went through your entire series on this build today. Along the way you made great progress as soon as you dropped replicating pictures and letting your mind build. While at same time using pictures to help build that mind. It's very sad you gave this up very quickly. I think as you said in this video, a lesson for you for next build is, don't give up quickly. The mistakes you pointed out about rail not painted, and not going in front of window (I mean if you want a loop, you have to do that...), and track plan. Do not be discouraged to tear up your track and ballast and grass.I think that is what you had the issue on in your yard. Your radius out of the yard to do your loop with the 'L' shape layout, you cut yourself short. Also decide on if you want to see mainline running, or do you want switching ops. Felt like you kept not deciding what you wanted as you went on more. You had the whole other section of your 'loco shop' location to have many industries for switching. But in the end, seems you wanted a loop and more time and proper plans. So i respect tearing down hard work to start over and build what you really want.
    Excited to see your next build, because you REALLY had a great one here. Also, please use online shopping more.. Was so sad to see you go to a store and not find what you want at that piss poor selection. I get it for video content and all going in a store. But you paying some top dollar on those switches and other cars and scenery stuff by not buying at hobby shops online...
    Best of luck!

  • @dexecuter18
    @dexecuter18 2 года назад +1

    Yup, when you start out and take the "strive for excellence" path, your going to go through a l o t of layouts before you get something your going to be happy with. I only really started getting back into the hobby in 2018 and have gone though about 14 N scale layouts of all varying stages of completion before scrapping after I felt there was something fundamentally problematic with the design that needed a complete do over. Though of course never let it affect anything and if anything always try to incorporate something you've never tried before into the next iteration.

    You should try and find some prototype trackage, or section of a branchline, industrial area, etc. that insterests you and build your plan around that. Get the plan 80-90% finalized, maybe set some track up without gluing it or lightly glue it with elmers (Lance Mindheim method) and test run the ops to see if it works, makes sense, interests you. If its based off a prototype, you can always go back and refer to it. Having a 'loose' plan is tough as it seems to constantly change and you get stuck in that analysis paralysis phase. Hey I has a question when you new layout maybe new engine storage in the workshop and I hope you get brand new engine bnsf soon coming up

  • @TimsBitsnPieces

    Maybe you should have done more research before laying the track or just laying the track first and then playing with the layout before doing any scenery etc.. I have been researching for many months so far and am just about to lay track in a temporary layout to see how I like it or Not.. I get a lot of my stuff second-hand from eBay and local second-hand dealers which is a lot cheaper than paying full price for new stuff.. yes new is nice but second-hand is 1/3 of the price and you can do a lot more with the extra money........ also consider a turntable which is great for turning engines around and storage for other engines as you get them.
