I’m stunned much like the interviewer who arrears to have turned to stone! What an amazing solo performance from an amazing singer song writer. Looking forward to seeing him live one day soon!!!!
Lyrics: [Verse 1] Sisyphus peered into the mist A stone's throw from the precipice, paused Did he jump or did he fall as he gazed into the maw of the morning mist? Did he raise both fists and say, "To hell with this" and just let the rock roll? [Chorus] Let it roll, let it crash down low There's a house down there but I lost it long ago Let it roll, let it crash down low See my house down there but I lost it long ago [Instrumental Break] [Post-Chorus] Well, I let the rock roll on down to the town below We had a house down there but I lost it long ago Lost it long ago Na-na-na-na-na-na-na Na-na-na-na-na-na-na I'm letting it roll away It's got nothing to do with fate And everything to do with you [Verse 2] I'd rather fail like a mortal than flail like a god, I'm a lightning rod History forgets the moderates For those who sit recalcitrant and taciturn You know I'd rather turn and burn than scale this edifice, yeah Where's my accomplice? So take my hand, we'll do more than stand Take my hand, we'll claim this land Take my hand, and we'll let the rock roll [Chorus] Let it roll, let it crash down low There's a house down there but I lost it long ago Let it roll, let it crash down low See my house down there but I lost it long ago Lost it long ago [Post-Chorus] Na-na-na-na-na-na-na Na-na-na-na-na-na-na I'm letting it roll away It's got nothing to do with fate And everything to do with- [Instrumental Break] [Outro] Sisyphus peered into the mist A stone's throw from the precipice, paused
Check out 3:45. I find it interesting how Sam can sit beside a guy performing like that and not show any sort of physical connection to the music like tapping his foot or moving his head or hand. He's perfectly still.
My favorite song because the Greek mythology story that the song is inspired by can be a metaphor for a lot of stuff and it is really interesting and beautiful, and that’s why I’m learning it on guitar. But.. *i simply cannot whistle* because my tongue is deformed and it’s attached to the bottom of my mouth more than it’s supposed to. ;( Also zero likes on the vid nice
Fine whislin' an a pickin' but can Marat get a piece? Jacques Louis-David plastered to a ton of work and no mention of the artist or portrait likeness? Work on this, Sir! "The Death of Marat." -- Jacques Louis-David circa 1793?
modern day genius song writer/performer!
Sounds better than 99.999% of acoustic studio recordings.
because he actually has talent!
Yes
holy hell yes it does.
This man's existence is a gift to humanity. Seeing him perform live at the ryman brought me to tears, multiple times.
His name is bird. he whistles. like a bird. the sound people nailed it.
thats all
This person is severely underrated
I like it that way, because then it's not too crowded at his concerts.
Thanks Sam for asking and Andrew for being open to this and all you both do!
Nice. You don't hear enough good whistlers these days.
Just him and Snowden
@@demirg1421 bruh
Don’t get much praise whistling these days. old folks be the only ones that have encouraged me on my whistling travels.
Have you heard of LP?
That was legendary.
Damn, that man can whistle!
I re-discovered this song a few days ago. I could listen to this 500 times in a row.
Each new live performance is a rediscovery, because it is totally différent from the other.

That's the best song of the last decade.🚀🚀
the interviewer is beyond mesmerized by the end of the song
I love this.
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Sisyphus peered into the mist
A stone's throw from the precipice, paused
Did he jump or did he fall as he gazed into the maw of the morning mist?
Did he raise both fists and say, "To hell with this" and just let the rock roll?
[Chorus]
Let it roll, let it crash down low
There's a house down there but I lost it long ago
Let it roll, let it crash down low
See my house down there but I lost it long ago
[Instrumental Break]
[Post-Chorus]
Well, I let the rock roll on down to the town below
We had a house down there but I lost it long ago
Lost it long ago
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na
I'm letting it roll away
It's got nothing to do with fate
And everything to do with you
[Verse 2]
I'd rather fail like a mortal than flail like a god, I'm a lightning rod
History forgets the moderates
For those who sit recalcitrant and taciturn
You know I'd rather turn and burn than scale this edifice, yeah
Where's my accomplice?
So take my hand, we'll do more than stand
Take my hand, we'll claim this land
Take my hand, and we'll let the rock roll
[Chorus]
Let it roll, let it crash down low
There's a house down there but I lost it long ago
Let it roll, let it crash down low
See my house down there but I lost it long ago
Lost it long ago
[Post-Chorus]
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na
I'm letting it roll away
It's got nothing to do with fate
And everything to do with-
[Instrumental Break]
[Outro]
Sisyphus peered into the mist
A stone's throw from the precipice, paused
I love this song. I love this show.🎼🕊🐸
Utterly in awe! 🙏💚
LEGENDARY!
I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS! Happy new year!
Wow, what talent!
BRILLIANT ❤️
One Take Andy
I wish I could wistle like Andrew Bird! BRAVO! :D

'cause 'professional audio'....never tap along
I thought he looked mesmerized! Frozen in place.
Over time, such a cool whistler.
GENIOUS.
Does Andrew Bird remind anyone of Shins front man James Mercer?
Yes, he does. He most certainly does.
Mark Alan Effinger I was just thinking that! I can’t believe someone else said it cause I can’t pinpoint why.
yes, they share the same aura
You have a good ear. He's definitely trying to go for a James mercer sound with his voice on this one
Genius
he is the god of whistles
What a great voice. Didn't even know who he was.

This is amazing! Would anyone be able share the strumming pattern?
He's a nice whistler :)
❤️❤️
Holy shit, whistling usually doesn't come through the audio that well. Sam Jones needs to be paying that audio guy more.
I think the radio station pays both Sam and the engineer.
We need more intelectuals in the business that's för sure.
David Tennant really can sing and play the guitar
Enjoy to look it. Its okey.. like it.
Is they some kind soul which worked out the strumming on a guitar?
I want to film an explorative documentary on the life and times of the one person who down liked this video. Their existence must be deeply dark.
The rolling rock
5.17 is happend to be my birthday~
Awesome performance of a song that my two daughters and i love. I cant help but notice that birdman looks maybe, maybe.... just a tad bit stoned?
I'm honored to be the 900th like
sometimes I wish I'd come down with cancer, so I could beg Andrew bird to play music with me all day 😂😂😂 (Reference to Drunk by Noon by Andrew bird 😂)

Birds aren't real
He's amazing, but he always looks like he smells.....
Naw not my bag could see this playing in a gap tho.....if anyone still shops there.
I found the troll.
I got some sweet ass jeans from GAP last year. Can't remember the cut/model/style but they are legit.
@Edward 6909 how would you know what type of music they play there if you havent shopped there yourself? ya dumb bitch :)
Genius
