I love the damned!!❤ The first time i saw them was when they appeared on the young ones. I was an innocent 14 yr old girl just starting to figure out who i was then i saw the gorgeous dave vanian looking like a vampire god freshly out of his grave! I fell instantly in love w the band which led me down the path of punk/goth/new wave/alternative music and the rest as they say is history. I can't guah enough about the positive effect they had on me. They blew open the doors of my mind to an entire universe that i had been wholey ignorant of until that moment. Thank you boys and blessed be ❤❤❤❤❤

    Oh The Damned.
    So love them.
I was a 16 year old kid still listening to the old bands,Led Zeppellin etc.
I knew of the Sex Pistols and of the evil Punk thing that had happened in the UK but didn't really give the bands and the music a real go.
I wouldnt dare tell my friends that I'd liked "Anarchy in the UK " a bit for some reason.
Luckily my girlfriend at the time's elder brother came home with a record he said we had to hear.
    It was Machine Gun Ettiquite.
    I was completely blown away.
    Actually we all were.
As we know their early stuff a little more raw and they would never consider a piano on a record.
The piano intro to "Melody Lee" and then into the chords in fast Damned fashion left me speechless.
I bloody loved it and the whole album which literally changed my musical life.
Dont get me started on The Black Album.
    What a masterpiece.
This led me to listening to everything i could from the UK.
    The Stranglers,The Jam,Buzzcocks etc.
All the greats and so glad I did thanks to these blokes and their bandmates.
Cant wait to see them here in Australia in a couple of months.
I will be the old bloke with tears of joy running down his face especially if they roll out anything from MGE.
    Best i bring a hankie.

They have aged so well compared to most rock-stars. I remember eagerly awaiting the release of machine gun etiquette in 1979 and was not dissappointed at all. I think I was the only person to enjoy "music for pleasure" their previous release. I think they were the only punk band that actively encouraged their audience to gob (spit directly) at them, when they were playing their instruments as they took it as a token of the fans appreciation.

@Tenerife Red Dog Cruise liner entertainment management. You would think that a band like The Damned, Croydons finest, should be lined up to play Fairfield Halls with some fanfare! They are ambassadors and would give the venue much needed positive PR. Transport links to East Croydon are excellent, with Fairfield Halls just 5 mins from the station. This concert venue should be attracting bands like The Damned, but christ only knows what the management company of F Halls is doing. Its a waste. We have a thriving rock community here who would love to see bands like The Damned on our doorstep. I wish!!

Live without The Damned is possible, but senseless. Of course they were the first to release this Atomic Bomb like Single, but, as Dave mentioned, there were the Ramones in the States. I can't stand that discussion of who was the first anymore. It's about Fun and get your Kicks! Those days are so far away. Now stay cool and enjoy the show! The Damned rules OK! Then and now

at what point did people in the u.k. start using the term "you guys" (the interviewer used it here)? when i was there in the 90's the term used was "you lot". in fact me and my friends had a friendly little debate about which term was more correct.
when did usage of the term begin approximately and was it some sorda american influence that made it popular? also, i haven't been to the u.k. in some years how common is it as opposed to "you lot"?

Is this clip from 2016? 40 years anniversary should have been about then, right?
