If you are interested in more fuel-less thrust exploits, you can use Kal-1000 to make an engine's maximum thrust go into the negatives. This creates as much fuel as the positive value would've used.
Combining this with an amplified thrust(you can copy-paste from a propeller's RPM control interface from a Kal), you can get ridiculous amounts of thrust out of things like Terrier engines..

I'd posit a video idea, but your most successful videos are about small ships, fast ships, cool ships, explosives, and war. The only thing I can think of is you trying to recreate the space battle at the start of the Revenge of the Sith, The Battle of Coruscaunt. I don't know how you'd do that without mods, and it would be no mean feat even *with* them.

Vaos straps warp nacelles to a plane and it stalls. How Does a warp drive stall? Lmao
I'm interested in the ion engine hack. Wanna see how that's done.

    • @DeepProbe
      @DeepProbe 2 года назад

      A. Warp drive can not stall. Craft can. Due to first versions of craft has too much drag the only source of lifting force here were wings (and atmosphere). So: flying higher -> atmosphere thiner -> no more lifting force -> "Kerbin, rejoice! Your heroes returning to you! (Too soon, but still...)".
By the way... I quite confident that same craft COULD leave atmosphere. If launched vertically. But VAOS seems to dislike vertically-launching-crafts...
      B. KAL-1000 fuel / engine power hack (ATTENTION! Ruins game experience! Use for your own risk/discretion!):
      1. Get 2 ion engines, 1 KAL-1000 unit, 1 xenon tank, 1 battery.
      2. Disconnect engines' thrust control from control sheme. (RMB to engine. "Throttle - Independent")
      3. In "Actions" menu give "throttle" control of engines to KAL-1000.
      4. Set control curve for one engine to infinite low (at KAL-1000 track editor: "tangents: curve" and move curve direction marker at 0 point DOWNWARDS). This engine will be power/fuel source. Negative throttle engine will NOT provide any thrust, so there is no matter which direction it facing.
      5. Set control curve for another one to infinite high (at KAL-1000 track editor: "tangents: curve" and move curve direction marker of 0 point UPWARDS). This engine will be wastly overpowered.
      6. Link KAL-1000 "Play Position" to "Main throttle" control (in "Actions" menu).
      ...
      998. Same method works with any type and quantity of engines in KSP. Just set up them in pairs, as described. And provide resource tank(s) as engine specification requires.
      999. Rejoice! (again)

There are different mods on spacedock that I think may help.... tweak scale is a interesting mod that allows some parts to be size altered and things scale such as engine power, weight, and resource consumption. Maybe you could tweak scale the warp drive and make it more powerful that way. Or use the Sr docking ports in multiple to make it more powerful.

I stopped watching Star Trek after 2 seasons of Enterprise. I'm happy. ;) As for drives, KAL overclocking is just as powerful, even with ion drives, but if you put it in anything heavy, you risk the engine breaking free and tearing through the ship. My little lightweight KAL/ion drive craft got into moon orbit in 10 minutes from launch without thrusting the whole way, but when I made a fancy alien ship with the same drive, it took an hour because I couldn't throttle up fully without destroying the ship. I think the fancy ship was 18 tons. It was carefully fixed for maximum strength, but not naturally a strong shape. I might only be saying all this because I used the ion engine which only has a tiny mounting point; a bigger engine might have stronger attachment.

There’s supposed to be red. But in the space plane hanger they look pink. At 9:45 you can see them better as red. In the Star Trek universe, The red tips on warp engines are called Bussard Collectors. As the ship moves quickly through space , they collect free-floating hydrogen particles that are all over the place in space. ( heavier near star systems and nebula) By collecting them , it helps refuel the ship. The reason why they’re red is supposed to be because it’s the color of the energized hydrogen particles that are stored in the collector during warp. ( but sometimes the writers forgot about that when they made episodes)

I dont know exactly how it works, but you clip a bunch of Dockingports and set them up so they try to dock with another set of docking ports, and then that triggers a thing that makes the craft move. and idk but i think if you set it up right you can have one the moves you forwards and one that acts as a brake, so that you dont have to flip it around to slow down.

The actual problem is that Discovery didn't replace it with anything good, and really just isn't well-made overall. Though, supposedly it's improved considerably in the most recent season. But, its concepts are still massively stupid.
    .
But, beggars and choosers. So far, all sci-fi has been stuck in a rut of "the rule of cool" overriding all of the science parts entirely. It's really just Trump in space most of the time. Sci-fi for dummies.
