When my kids were little (my oldest is 19) and money was tight, one night a week we had "buffet night". I heated up all the leftovers from the week, put it on the table and they made their plates. I normally did this the night before trash was picked up since the fridge needed cleaned out anyway. They still talk about that being their favorite night - probably because they chose what they wanted, but I loved it because I only made dinner 6 nights (there was no eating out at that time) and nothing went to waste.

Oh, if you have any leftover juice from canned fruit, make a syrup out of it by adding more sugar. Cook in saucepan until sugar melts. Cool and pour into a container of tea to sweeten it and give it that little extra flavor. Add a little sprig of mint and you have an infused and flavored tea .

Hey hey! Wanted to add I’m feeding for 4.
Just from filming the grocery haul on this video blocks of great value brand cheese have went up .11c 😩 Budget cooking is getting harder now a day, but it’s still do able! I hope todays video helps you feed your family on a budget. 😍

It is harder to budget right down to the penny now a days… even if you use the store app things can either go up in price or be out of stock by the time you get to the store to shop and you have to sometimes substitute that meal on your menu. Excellent video and everything looks delicious 😋

Sometimes a quick trip to the dollar store can help. Even though the dollar store itself isn't just a dollar now, it's 1.25. ugh.

I just wanted to say if you don’t have chicken stock you can throw those bones in a crockpot full of water over night (16-24 hrs) and you have you some bone broth for free! Or if your recipe calls for cooked chicken consider boiling it and saving the broth. It’s wonderful. Use plastic bags, pickle jars or cleaned out peanut butter containers and put the cooled broth in the freezer for later. Just leave some room at the top for expansion.

The black beans that you added to the chicken and rice skillet really give the dish a lot of protein so you shouldn’t have to worry about having less chicken. Great video!!

Such a realistic budget challenge. Great job on being under $50! For pizza sauce, I tend to grab a small can of tomato sauce from Aldi for about .60¢ then add some seasonings to it. My kids say it tastes better than pizza sauce so I'll take it 🤣.

I buy pizza sauce and put it in an ice cube tray and freeze it. Pop the cubes out and put them in a zip lock in the freezer. Just pull out as many as you need,. They thaw really fast.

If you are on an extreme budget. A bag of leg quarters is your best option for chicken. You will have to put in the work to cut it down but you will have lots of it. To me that frozen chicken 🐔 is too expensive 😫.

I absolutely love this video. Today I went to the grocery store with $60 to get our groceries. We were out of several things and I needed items for meals too. Before I left home I gathered up some coupons from the store I was going to and check that store's sale paper. In this store at the front there is a kiosk where I can scan my card and get more coupons so, of course, I did. I realize this all sounds like a lot of work but really it is worth it because I spent $39.05 and got what I needed EXCEPT green beans. 🤣
But I was so excited. Budget shopping is not hard and it is so worth the extra little bit of effort.
Always enjoy your channel because you make it look so easy yet keep it so real.

You can also use the bone in chicken with skin left on, one package of your sausage, you package of frozen peppers & onions with some diced celery...to make a wonderful gumbo! Just brown up equal amounts of flour and oil in a soup pot until color of an old penny. Add your chicken in to brown, then add your vegetables. Season with salt, pepper and Cajun seasonings and add water or chicken broth( you can even cook your chicken with skin and bone - whole pieces before you add it if you are strapped for time). Let mixture come to a boil, then reduce it to medium. After mixture has thickened up some, you can either put in a slow cooker to cook on low for 6 hrs, or leave on stove top on a low simmer until chicken is cooked. Serve over cooked rice with garlic bread. You can also cook up a pot of red beans to have next meal with sausage. Stretches your proteins a lot further.

I've been making this dish for twenty years. I have found a way to make it awesome I dehydrate celery because I hate celery salt. So you can use thinly sliced fresh celery or dehydrated. Also add carmelized onions and a little bit of finely grated asiago cheese. Expensive cheese aren't expensive really because you only need a little for a ton of flavor examples I use are romano asiago and Italian parmesan the legit stuff.buy blocks because I not keen on eating cellulose which is in all pre grated or shredded cheese. Always buy the block and grate your own.

I bought several pks of hot dogs when on sale so just need the crescent rolls. Can't wait to try.
I made pizza bread, my husband had never heard of it before! I used some hoagie buns I had for something else & they were good. I used pepperoni & bacon
If we have left over bacon I put in freezer & I use for omelets, baked beans, anything I can think of.
I HATE throwing away food, I feeling like takin a dollar bill or two in trash so always try to have no waste.
Not saying I never do but I really don't throw away much
I had made spaghetti & meatballs, there were 4 meatballs left & last night we did leftovers & I had those meatballs with some already noodles & green beans I had left. It was good, kinda like meat loaf.

You can also use a couple pieces of fresh or canned corn, black beans and fresh tomatoes or can of rotel( hot or not), onion and garlic or powder, S& P, drizzle of vinegar and olive oil( opt). You have fresh corn and black bean dip. You can add fresh cilantro and diced jalapeño peppers if you want to give it more flavor. Serve with tortilla chips.

I just shared a video of making little bite muffins “homemade”. Cheaper then buying them from the store. Winston is a only child, so we do go through a lot of snacks, but not like we would if we have more kids. I just try to make things homemade if I can or buy in bulk. Divide snacks up, so he doesn’t sit down and eat a whole box of something at once. Like taking a box of cheez-it’s and dividing it up into single serving ziplock bags. Also buy store brand that will save you a ton of money!

Thanks for the video. We are a large family in Australia ( kids at home are 23, 17, 13 and 10 and all but 1 eat adult portions) the discount bread is our savour. It helps a meal stretch some little more. Though extremely jealous of your capsicum onion mix we don't have that as frozen mix here and it would save me so much money

This is my first time to your channel. I enjoyed watching you cook all of your budget meals. I like the tips you add in. Adding spices on hand and comparing marinara sauce to pizza sauce. The bread was an excellent bargain. 👍
