I made a couple otter bucket sets exactly like yours, set them a foot below the surface around docks. Used a good size sucker for bait. Success caught two otters! Thanks for the info! North Western Ontario.
I set one like that this fall. No otter came around but I did catch one big mink. I just tied some beaver to a rock in the bottom. I did not have holes in the bottom so i had a heck of a time getting the bucket, rock and 3 gallons of water back out. Eventually the creek froze and I had to pull the set out.
Good one Timber and thanks for sharing. I can get as many of those buckets as I want and I do have a few. I will try some this fall and see what takes place. All the best buddy and be well.
Hi there good video good info. I've been using these in Labrador for at least 15 years work great for otters and mink. I even make a floating set to throw out any where in the early season or let drift at open holes in rivers and brooks. even work on land, but them mice and weasels get to them fast.
excellent video...I wanted to make a few of these this summer after I seen Rodney using them...Now I have a video to follow...Thanks ...Good stuff as always bro...
used round buckets. 220's of course. used either bait wired to softball sized rock or wrapped tin foil around soft ball sized rock. just put bait or lure in bottom of bucket and sank it near slides or haul-outs.
Great video! I have half of a dozen buckets now for the 220 sets this Fall! Mr.Slyfox2 mentioned a neat idea with the bucket sets as well... putting a piece of aluminum foil shaped like a fish in the bottom of the bucket. On moon lit nights it will attract them as well! Good stuff!!
great video. i got a buddy that used them. in salt water he used scallops shells, it works real will and in fresh water he used fresh water mussels.he said they work great to.take care
