Guys just want to say thanks for this great idea… it worked great. Made my own version with 5 gallon pails… made 3 tubes up. They were out for a week and a half and caught a double in one tube . AWESOME
Great job buddy! I turned 50 years old this year and finally caught my first two otter this season I was so excited!! Im going to try your method next season for sure its a great concept! Good luck with everything my friend!
Got a killer spot that iv seen otters multiple times. The problem iv had is the family members dog that is always snooping around the area, this is going to be a game changer I do construction and asked the guys that do infrastructure on our job for some 12” scrap hopefully I get my hands on it before seasons out, great idea Ty!
I have trapped otters in narrow channels and at beaver dams, I'll try this as well. Good idea! That's a good sized otter.. You take care, from North central Ontario. Can.
I’ve seen bucket sets, but I like that tube set. We are waiting for ice to come off then we will start beaver and otter trapping. I’ll have to build one a make a video to throw up on our channel. Great video you’ve posted!
I made tube sets for mink ? About 30 years ago now I’m back in my home state and there’s now an otter season ? I’m to old now to trap but sure like y’all vidios
Excellent trap you've constructed, well done! I watched your build video before this one and my question is, you have a bait hook for holding a fish and unless I missed it I didn't see you put one on your hook for this particular set location. When do you use your bait hook?
Thank you we appreciate the support! To answer your question we usually use the bait hook in bigger pools of water or more of a “hunting grounds for the otter” in the videos case we set it more of a blind set in the smaller pock of water so we didn’t bait it just in case the water gets low a coon or something out of season won’t get in it. A lot of times we will hang a silver fishing lure with no hooks to mimic a fish easier than changing dead bait out! Let us know if you have any more questions thank you!
@@betinamiller3017 We use some creek chub a lot, but depends where we are trapping! Put what they are most likely feeding on for your area or body of water!
I'm fabricating a couple from sheet metal and rbg's. Do you think color plays any part in attraction? I'm trapping public land so I was thinking of painting earth tones but not sure if they will see it. I'm new to otters by the way.
It’s c900 pvc pipe used in big sewer and and bigger construction. You can usually find a few small extra pieces that some sewer/ construction companies will give you or sell you
How big a diameter pipe is the c900? I have either a 12" or 14" pvc pipe that I am planning on using to build a trap similar to yours. Do you think that will work?
@PortmanRd ... the green PETA idiots just don't know what they're talking about. The otters are overpopulated in our part of central Texas as well. They have decimated our fish populations, including carp, which has lead to terrible vegetation over-growth and sedimentation.
you know your waders have two straps that's not a handle Idk if someone told you different but believe it or not that does buckle just like the other side
Our British Otters have a lot in common with your American Bison as both were hunted to near extinction. Thankfully the U.K Otter numbers have recovered and are now protected by British law. Exempt from hunting.

So glad to hear that! That’s awesome! Comments like this is why we make videos!
That’s Awesome! Love to hear it.
you idiots!!
Thanks for the idea of the tube set . I made one and had a double otter catch in it this year . Made my season .

That's cool man. We as a family are trying to learn from "locals" on how to do this. Purely for personal fur use. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for sharing your videos and keep them coming please.
Thank you people like you keep us going!
If possible, can you make more videos of you using your tube traps? they are really neat. Thanks.
@@germansmith3291 yes! We have some exciting trapping videos coming this fall!
That otter is pretty limp. Must of just caught him
What inch pipe to hold the 220 - great idea ! Gonna give this a try - enjoyed this video!
Appreciate it! I’ll have to check I believe it’s 12 inch pipe but maybe 10 I’ll have to check on that and get back with you
Hey, quick question; a person who shall remain nameless may have shot an otter in a pond, and we're wondering if otters will float after being shot
Thanks for the info. Didn't know that caught so many fish. I'll try it this fall
awesome!! going to try it out this year!!

No bait? And what do you do with them? Eat them? I'm a southerner (Louisiana) and all this is new to me. Thank you for the video.
we usually but a silver fishing lure in them or no bait but you can try a fresh fish if your state allows

Did you use any fish for bait in that set?

I don’t think they care about any colors we’ve never had a issue with the blue/green tubes I know guys that have white as well
What you want an otter for? Been hunting my whole life but don't understand what you do with an otter? You eat them?
Their pelts and hair. No animal people trap for are eaten unless you go way south
@@UncannyLiving Trapped Beaver are ate all over the US, North and South.
Otter eat a ton of fish. Helps your fish population to trap some of the otters. Furs are used for lots of things.

What part of Missouri?.. roughly. I'm near St Louis ish
Jefferson City area
That's cool subscribed
Thanks for trapping these. They are annihilating smallmouth bass populations here in Indiana rivers. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching!
Boohoo. Otters hunt fish to survive.....not for sport.
