Boss, 3-4 meters? Wood for dissipating heat? That "wooden" part is for grip and the tripod height is about 160cm which is 1.6M I believe.
That was a wrong statement on my part with the height. Apologies about that. It's actually 1.67m at full height.
By using the word "padding", I believe that would also suggest "grip".
In my experience, purely plastic tripods get really hot while working outdoor in hot weather. Add that to camera overheating - not sure that's good for almost purely plastic tripods.
Not sure if that means anything, but wood is a natural insulator, so the heat from the camera doesn't really get to the tripod as compared to fully plastic builds.

This is an insightful and timely review, I was considering getting the Kingjoy tripod. From your experience, how easy is it to film vertically on the Kingjoy? Is it even possible?
Thank you so much! It is quite possible to film vertically. It wasn't made to film vertically but it's possible. In fact I have filmed many times sideways for portrait videos more times than usual recently for clients. It's just that the pan-tilt handle will face sideways if you get what I mean.
