    I have to say that this 'universal system' is one of the best investments in yard tools I've made - highly recommended. I have the string trimmer, edger attachment and the brush cutter shown in this video. I also have the chain saw attachment, but it's still in the box unused. Anyone interested in seeing that?

      I'd like to see it, have shade trees next to the house but they grow enough to scratch against the siding during storms. Debating on buying that attachment instead of paying some guy hundreds to come trim the trees! Btw we are in Cecil County, Maryland almost like neighbors 😁.

    so I just bought the Craftsman 25 cc two cycle trimmer/weed wacker. I do Not like String heads so I bought a Shakespeare plastic blade Ugly Head attachment (with replacement string it was $44). I wasted HOURS and couldn't get it installed properly. So I went and got another brand of this attachment, the Trimmerplus universal brush cutting head (it is metal) it works perfect and was very easy to install. I didn't get the Trimmerplus at first because it has blunt not serated blades and it was $109, so I balked at the price, but it is well worth it

      John, that's excellent information… Thanks for sharing! My trimmer head uses pre-cut lengths of trimmer line that you need to manually insert at every change. At first I was bothered by the inconvenience, but I just got used to it. I like the metal brush cutter attachments Because you can just go at it without stopping. I'll have to take a look at Trimmerplus!

    Wow. That is a lot of attachments. I did the same thing the other day and nearly got heatstroke. I do the same thing but for snakes and random critters I dont want to murder by spinning blade.

      Hi Johan! Thanks for stopping by this channel. It's hard work! And you are in the middle of summer! (I think I'd rather have heatstroke than the crappy weather we have had lately.) Yeah, I like this tool and all of the accessories, and I own about four different heads for it. Now the question is should I go electric, or stick with gas. Or as a third option, hire someone else to do it so I don't get heatstroke…😁

      @@MikeFyxdt My pleasure my friend! Yeah that makes it tough! African winters are far milder than the summers so cant wait for those! That tool seems very versatile! I would not go electric just yet. Their seems to be too many issues at present. That last option seems like the most logical option as Spock would say haha! Hope you have a great weekend!

    how dangerous would this be using with a electric trimmer without a guard? first time I used the attachment that came with it the Ryobi head, I hit a fence and it flew off in the locked position and shot at the other end of the yard *with the guard* I could imagine it flying off without a guard and being metal.
    the guard on the Ryobi is such a hassle

      @@MikeFyxdt yeah, maybe you shouldn't use those attachments with Ryobi weed eaters. I mean even if I hit the fence with the brush cutter it still shouldn't of flew off right? I think the Ryobi electrics have too much power vs the cheap plastic

    Hey Mike, I think the Bamboo will grow through the weed landscaping fabric. Its hard to kill. Good Luck.

    Wondering if the landscape fabric and mulch will stop the bamboo? Myth Busters had an episode where they showed bamboo will grow right up through most things including a person. (A dummy in their case)

    • @MikeFyxdt
      @MikeFyxdt  3 года назад +1

      @C Smith - yes, I am wondering that too!. I ended up waiting before putting down the landscape cloth because I wanted to make a second pass after about a week, to kill more sprouts. I don’t have high hopes, but I figured it is worth a try. I think I may do part landscaping cloth and part just mulch and see what’s more effective. So Myth Busters was able to grow bamboo through a dummy? That’s hilarious! (I have seen a daffodil push its way through asphalt…)

    My brush cutter attachment came with a thin metal rod bent in various directions. However, there were no instructions on what to do with it. Do you know ?

    • @MikeFyxdt
      @MikeFyxdt  2 года назад +1

      Hi Melanie, that part is called the ‘locking rod’. The end gets inserted into a hole on the blade shaft and it locks the blade from turning, so you can use a wrench to loosen and remove the blade. Do a Google search on “craftsman brush cutter attachment manual” if you need to see instructions. Hope that helps!

My new dewalt trimmer uses a non standard design so I'm looking into getting one if these. Want to Make sure they are versatile unlike the dewalt design which uses a square head where others use a star/toothed design. All of the universal blade kits use the star design
