I purchased a 60v Trimmer in 2021 (DCST970X1) and couldn’t stand the head on it. I eventually replaced it with a Husqvarna T-35 and larger guard. It was like night and day with the T-35. I purchased one of these with the weed trimmer/edge trimmer combo. The first thing I did was replace the head with another T-35. IMO, the heads that Dewalt make are terrible. I Really like the power-head tool. I also purchased the pole-saw. 😊

Imagine putting any head other than a speed feed head on a trimmer

This is the wrong way to string the trimmer! The spool cover DOES NOT have to be removed in order to add line. Just align the marks and holes. Also the entire spool can indeed be removed and replaced with another brand like the famous Echo Speed Feed 400.

🔴🔴 (09/20/23 I just saw a guy using a small tiller about 8 inches wide in hard dert worked nice. Not sure if it was Dewalt or aftermarket. I just bought the trimmer the other day thinking I have a bag full of 20v batteries. They don't work in it and no adapter is available at this time to use these batteries just thought I would put that out there.

Just bought one of these trimmers today.
I like it better than my 60V trimmer only which was a giant pile of crap from day one.
This trimmer is very powerful and the string seems pretty evil.
I hate the ultra sensitivity of the bump head.
Any time it makes the slightest contact with the ground it spits out string too easily.
I think you can remove the head by lining up a stem tool and twisting the head once it’s locked.
The reason I bought this trimmer was 1. I needed to run attachments and 2. I broke the metal surround that the stem tool makes contact with in the trimmer head to lock it down.
It was so tight it would not break free and the metal gave way and cracked when trying to twist it free.
3.The motor was near the trimmer head and would get wet wet and gunned up from grass , over heat and smoke/smell.
FYI do not buy the non attachment 60v trimmer only.
Both of these trimmers have the same crappy hand grab handle which is the most non ergonomic handle I’ve ever used.
I really cramp up and get fatigued quickly using these trimmers.
I have one from an old Ryobi that is shaped like a C, it’s longer and adjustable at the pivot point.
Great upgrade that I’ll be doing to this trimmer as well.
The shroud is noisy as hell when rocks or harder debris hit it….sounds like thin steamed steel and makes a lot of noise.
I do like the trimmer and it works well.
Can’t wait to try some attachments and possibly find a replacement trimmer head that isn’t so darn sensitive.
My tool attachment of the trimmer itself where it mates with the trimmer power head was distorted from shipping and I really had to muscle it into the power head section.
The power head had a transport plastic sleeve that prevents this on the power head but none in the attachment pole portion and that end was slightly smashed oblong.
    I hope the batteries last
Longer in this new trimmer as they didn’t last ten minutes or so in the old trimmer.
Most likely due to the motor issues from all the grass clogging it up.

You complicated that lol. Leave the bump cap on it and just hold one part with your hand and twist the other. You don't need to use the screwdriver or anything. This is a 1 or less minimum job. Go find some videos of the echo speed feed. Same exact design. Save you alot of time and headache

Just a heads up, with the brush cutter attachment. Most of your cuts you are moving to left, it works best moving to the right. The brush/stick edges against the little ledge and then the blade spins in like a pair of scissors to cut it off.

Why did you take the top of the spool off to restring? You don't have to do that. Good video otherwise.

You made the string reload harder than it is. You did it wrong.

Good review but not the way to load new line. You only need to take the cap off if there is an issue. To reload the spool just cut the length of line you want, feed the line through the hole. Pull each side to equal lengths. Hold the cap and twist the winding ring. No need to disassemble the head, no need to keep tension on the line, no need to hold the head in place with a nail or any other device. Reloading the line couldn't be easier.

NOBODY will tell or show what system dewalt uses to attach blades to the brush cutter. I'm trying to replace the string head with a brush cutting blade with a 1" hole and the stringtrimmer head has some goofy dewalt specific square head above the threads..... trying to avoid buying the special attachment if possible

Have the edger attachment, cuts very nicely, however, blade protector is made out
Of plastic, after having it for a short period of time it broke off where the screws attach
It to the blade assembly. DeWalt, could We make this out of a quality Alloy cover instead?

I hope it is only the sound of the recording and not the real sound of the attachments, such high frequency sounds, I don’t like that. The strimmer line can be done within a minute, as said it’s like the Speed feed head of Echo. For edging I just use the strimmer most of the time

As a note , your pin oak would be much easier to mow around if properly trimmed up.
