- Welcome to my MCC Legendary Speedrun Guides! Today we're tackling "The Ark" from Halo 3 (Master Chief Collection).
My goal with this series is to help everyone complete every Halo game on Legendary difficulty using the latest speedrunning tips and tricks. If you have any questions or I forgot to explain something in the video, please ask in the comments and I'll do my best to answer!

I did this mission on legendary without entering a vehicle, took me 3 hours, and no achievement. Why? I picked up a damn turret. I had to do the mission for a second time for another painful 3 hours. Oh by the way, it was solo
You get the achivement for doing the whole game, not one level
the same thing happened to me. wasted 5 hours on that level
deablo does I think he was talking about the achievement for completing the Ark without using vehicles...
What I did was sign in a guest and played as my guest the whole mission. The achievement just requires that YOU don't use any vehicles. Anyone else you're playing with is allowed to.
Michael H. I was about to do the same thing, that also worked for me with the two achievements in Two Betrayals for not killing any grunts and picking new weapons.
0:42 to 0:53 I’ve never been filled with more hate in my heart than that jump. I was stuck at that exact jump for over an hour and I couldn’t just brute force my way through because there were too many brutes. Thank God in heaven its over now.

@@bungboocer1747 I struggled with it. Decided to just go around the outside because the little time I save isn't worth the struggle of hitting that jump

Why is the hardest part not avoiding the enemies, but trying to do all these stupid jumps? It's almost easier to just play the levels normally. I nearly ragequit Reach (my first heroic run) on mission one, because the rock jumps would *not* work no matter what I did. Had to, surprisingly, go about normally.

I really wish I had known about that firing trick with the Chopper sooner.
Grav jump is possibly the most RNG thing I have encountered. But I think placing it a little further forward is what helped me. For some reason I have barely enough time to jump out and immediately place it.
I respect you a lot man not only do you post your speedrun guides but you tell your viewers how they can improve on it and possibly beat your world record time... so thank you for all your help although I know I couldn't beat the levels as fast as you they still help me out a ton

I've been trying to complete this mission for the past 2 hours. I CANT GET ON THE FUCKING SCARAB FML
What a boss ELI! I have been trying this run for the past two weeks and holy shit it is nearly as impossible as the regret run in H2. I have never wanted to throw my controller at the wall more than in this run. Thanks for the perfect run for me to actually see it optimized.
This is what I like about the old level design. You can go up the sides of things, explore around things, see how far or how high you can go. But thanks to reach, we now have kill barriers, kill timers, and invisible walls EVERYWHERE. You can't explore anymore and you can rarely find anything that 343 doesn't want you to find.
Reach was still developed by Bungie and you can still do the exploration stuffs in Halo 4 & 5
That scarab jump is tricky!! Thw few times i've pulled it off I getkilled while excapng in my chopper!! So frustrating!! Might have to just kill the scarab normally lol
I played the Grave Grind with a friend for two hours and got to the second last room just for my internet to shut off....
Did it solo, took me 3 hours of pain and agony......

exactly, when Eli said the most RNG, I never thought this much luck was needed into killing Regret...
Also because of a bug, Regret wasnt registered and I had to do it one more time... :P

If you run through the last room on the left side and drop down at the door before the final arena fast enough, you can kill the chiefton before he even gets down to the arena

In case ur wondering what he’s taking about eli explains it in the next vid he says he grav hammered for a trick and hit a barrel and flew back across the section which wasted a lot of time

Plus, The Ark is the level I was stuck at for speedrunning, hopefully this will get me going again!

Bruh. I blew up the scarab, made it on top of the building, got down then didnt get a checkpoint and lost my chopper due to it flipping but keeping going and going through the barrier. Then I reloaded, redid the scarab and as I drove away, same path, a random wraith shot blew me up. I was so pissed. The RNG in this game is unreal
I might as well be driving a wet noodle when I’m on the brute chopper.

That scarab bit might as well be impossible. Followed your exact route but it’s climbing down before I’ve even had chance to get back on my chopper...a patch has happened maybe?
No, just too slow to get to the spot. You need to get down to the spot fast. I prefer to do a brute shot jump instead as you don't need to spend time getting the grav lift.
My issue was even though I got passed the scareb and brute choppers around it, there were like 2 brutes waiting for me in the middle
I managed to do it once after an hour and a half but after i destroyed it a shit ton of enemies were waiting for me at the bottom and it didnt give me a checkpoint
This is really helpfull since some of us want the armour you can unlock

lmao. I followed this almost exactly except in the second to last room I was so quick that I could assassinate the Hammer Chieftain just after he said "the pack will feast on you!" and started to run to the last area. His Invincibility made clearing the jet pack brutes even easier.
About damn time. Can't wait till' you do Halo 4.
You just can use his Halo 4 guide from the xbox 360 version. All the tricks he showed work in MCC too.
Andreas Heckmann I already know how to speedrun H4, just in his MCC launch marathon he showed off some new strats. I think Joker showed them off too,

Trying to run this Mission made me realize that i hate the chopper as an enemy and while trying to drive it.
Everything about the brutes in general is fucking shit.
Except the brute shot only for the melee power, and somewhat the hammer
other than that brutes are just the fucking bane of my existence in halo, i hate them with a burning passion.
The phallic symbol is massive. Got it.
You actually dont have to balance the ghost on that wall around the corner to do the despawn, you can drive around the corner the normal way, but you will encounter 2 ghosts.....but you can offroad right up that steep rock where the dead tree is at the end of Eli taking that wall climb.... For some reason it works and for some reason if you screw up eli's method, it WILL spawn. Idk.
Barely missed par with 20:51. This is easily the hardest mission so far, mainly because 1.) Save and quit method isn’t working currently for Halo 3; 2.) The mission is absurdly long; 3.) I was actively trying for par here, whereas with Gravemind (which is cited as one of the hardest to speedrun), I got par on Easy first and then went for the under 3 hours legendary total after.
I love the ark mission. I don't know why but it's like when I got halo 3 the ark was the mission I played most
It was my fav mission in Halo 3 too. Iam Happy that Halo 5 will have atleast one desert mission too.
My favorite was storm and the ark was on place 2 :D

Does anyone else think the difficulty increased on the next gen. It might just be me, but i notice a difference.
Halo 3 is the easiest campaign in my opinion.
Michael H. Halo 4 is the easiest campaign in my opinion.
I remember Eli saying on stream that the MCC has more RNG to it... so yes, in a way it is harder as it is more unpredictable
Halo 4 is actually one of the more challenging campaigns because in all the other Halos you can always find a Plasma Pistol to take down the enemies' shields. That's not the case in Halo 4. Also the Knights are harder to kill than Elites and Brutes because they can teleport and have watchers to help them.
Michael Holm Halo 4 was a joke. Their idea of difficult in that campaign was just to give all the enemies one-hit-kill weapons. Not difficult, just tedious. And the plasma pistols were just as common in 4, you just had to swap them out more often which if you pay any attention in game is not hard at all. After I learned to counter the annoying one-hit-kill crap and teleporting enemies (terrible idea by the way, those are not fun to fight at all and just make the game even more tedious), the game became laughably easy. By a huge margin the easiest of the Halo games, even easier that 3.

At the begining an easier way, is just to go a bit further on and do, i think its two jumps and turn. Won't be as quick but still gets the job done

You don't have to kill those marines Eli. If you stand in front of guilty spark when he's using the laser it will skip the dialogue
Eli, have you tried to do this without the tank so you go even more faster, I know it sounds pretty impossible but maybe you could handle it with a mix of missile launcher, granades, vehicles, etc. Just a crazy idea from someone crazy
Limon I'd be crazy enough to attempt that idea. I think Eli should do some co-op speed runs too. Sometimes I look at the levels thinking while I'm going solo; you could do most of this much easier and maybe faster with an extra person.

I tried to do this, but that second checkpoint with the weird jump I just can’t do it I legit pissed myself off
the second jump can be done easier but takes maybe 3 seconds longer, jump over the bit in the video and jump up the rock from the bottom and up, i tried the first jump and was like wtf impossible, so i done my easier method, the scarab was infuriating, in total it took me 30 mins :)
@@techclub8528 Thank you so much for this. I no longer miss the big rock to the left. Now I just jump onto the tiny rock on the ground, jump in vain and the brute conveniently shoots my dead body over the rocks. :')

There isnt any time to get positioned under the scarab like that, it spawns as soon as you enter the grav lift building. Literally in the mission as I'm typing this.

The cloaked brutes from the 2nd to last room followed me all the way to the last part. I cleared the last part, killed the hammer guy and the mission didnt end. Only to be ambushed by 2 cloaked brutes. feels bad.
I can not even get the par time on this mission...RNG will not allow it. I might actually burn my mcc disk after trying and failing so many times. This has me so tilted. This and Halo4s last mission.

Papa John you can drive it but the only problem with that is sometimes when the dawn lands there is like i believe its a 60-65% chsnce that it flips the AA wraith and because technically your not supposed to drive it the wraith will blow up
@@xtreme843 Here is what you do. As soon as both AAs are neutralised, boost the one you stole back toward the dip before the cave. Then when the Dawn is just about fully in position, it's safe to drive back to activate the marines. The reason your AA flips is because covenant vehicles get a weightless effect from the Dawn. But if you watch, at a certain point they stop flying around. Stealing the AA on Ark was basically my childhood.

Got it all the way to the scarab abd took 20 minutes trying to grav lift or fuel rod jump into it and gave up due to rage. Any easier ways that can work for those who get shafted by those fuel rod grunts every time

How did you get a really high score like that? I have tried on a few speed runs and a really low score it just seemed like the Time Multiplier goes by how many kills you maid and how much they were worth. You maid this all about time I am thinking that Time Scores are different than Kill Score setting.

Specifying exactly where to throw down the grav lift would probably be more helpful if you had longer than 13 milliseconds to set it up. Its literally just hours on end of rushing over there, desperately trying to throw it down and jump before the scarab comes down, and exiting to dashboard and restarting every fucking time you miss.

I’m beat this mission and it is not showing up as completed on legendary Does any one know what is going on
3 times now yesterday and it hasn't logged my time properly. I chipped 16 mins and the mfing game has told me that my total time is 1hour40 even though i restarted the mission completely. It's counted my restarts into total time fucking stupid.
My theory is that you have to exit completely and start from checkpoint alpha everytime-every run. Haven't tested this on CE or 2 or other 3 missions; very annoyed so haven't worked out if this is definitely the issue
Hit me up for tips if u haven't done this yet as I've improved on efficiency in a couple of spots to him

@@HelloZukoHere7 I cleared the area and ahead so could practice in tranquility... got really good at getting to top of the spire... but never could get traction on ground that I can walk down just fine... the turn to left thing he does in the video doesn't change direction of jump either... wonder if that's an MCC physics change or something. A shame after learning that first jump but just gonna clear enough of this area to move on.
Why is that the missions from the ark all the way up to Halo the last mission,is like in halo CE two betrayals?Straight up aids to do for a casual like me who wants the under 2 hours achievement?Im not even attempting the LASO in h3 fuck the achievements,dont want to die in hearthstroke.
