Duke Nukem : Grabbag 8 Bit remix

- Опубликовано: 26 авг 2009
- This is what the Duke Nukem theme song would have sound like if it was done back in the first Duke Nukem game.
Tools I have used:
DosBox 0.72
GXSCC 236 (Google it if you don't know what it is)
Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9
VirtualDubMod Игры
"DUKE, IF YOU THINK YOU'RE A REAL TOUGH GUY, YOU'LL COME AND FACE ME ON THE MOON! ME AND MY TECH-BOTS WILL BE WAITING, UNLESS YOU'RE TOO CHICKEN...HA HA HA!"

This is what it would sound like if it were for the NES, which is apparently the only 8-bit sound people know about anymore. If this were used as the theme for Duke 1 then it would be a PC speaker monstrosity.
PC Speaker is 1-bit
Or it would be AdLib, which sounds like any other OPL2/OPL3 track.
@@DFX4509B OPL sounds worlds better than this, Grabbag on my OPL2 SoundBlaster clone on my 486DX2-66 sounds great
This is how Grabbag sounds on OPL2/Adlib/SoundBlaster

@@Anilocin AdLib and the original SB and SB Pro twins are still 8-bit technically, the SB16, ViBRA16, and AWE32 and AWE64 are all 16-bit cards.
It's because Apogee didn't have adlib or soundblaster sound cards until 1992 when they published iD software's Wolfenstein 3D that they found out about the technology and decided to give it a go.
I vaguely remember playing this at the orphanage i was raised at. Man that's a long ass time ago.
"Damn! Those alien bastars are gonna pay for shootin' up my ride!"
OMFG my youth just flashed before my own eyes! The hours i spent playing the duke nukems... For some weird reason those games were much more fun than nowadays full 3D OpenGL antiliased anisotropic tithering 32X filtered games...
Uh, no, it would actually kill your ears if Grabbag was in Duke Nukem 1 because that game only used PC Speaker. Goddamnit, why don't more people do 8-Bit music OTHER than NES?
Suits really well. Never knew there would be a duke nukem 3-d.
2 aliens got their head ripped off and shat down their neck.
I made this to my mobile ringtone, love it, so iconic.
Sounds like it belongs on the Game Blaster. Nice job!
Game blaster?
I like how it sounds in 8 bit! 8 bit forever!
@swedichboy1000 Apogee used that name to avoid any controversy from Other companies that Used Duke Nukem, however they found out that it wasn't registered, so they changed it back to the original name that we all know during the sequels, starting with Duke Nukem 2.
It really is. I played it through an emulator and if I'm lucky I kill the first enemy but that floating robot thing always kicks my ass.
"Hey, shitheads, it's me, the host of the number one station at Old World Radio: The Duke of the Nuke. So grab a Fat Man, find a deathclaw, and get ready to blow shit up.
8-Bit Hits."
I found out recently that the original Duke Nukem plagiarizes assets from fucking Mega Man on DOS of all things and I haven't been the same since
hail to the king
this is so awesome :D
ugh.. why must 8 BIT music automatically mean the NES soundchip ?
whatever its still awesome but I was expecting a PC Speaker or a Commodore 64 SID version especially since this is a PC game and Duke's a PC Icon.
@MarcSola7: That's unreal, do you know if the NES sound chip has enough voices etc/spec for this to be transposed across to play on an NES sound chip?
Any more info greatly appreciated, great work!!
It sounds similar but there are actually differences in the sound between this and the version I talked about.
Awesome, i want this game.
Well the game is real... lol
I played this in early 90's.
this should have been in duke nukem 1.
hey i played this game in my childhood :-) let's rock !!!
Duke Nukum?
i dont get why duke nukem get grown up stuff while the 2 first games did not
because they came up with such concept during development of duke3d
@nwkitz Whhhhaaaaattttt.......? I hope there's some vids of this on RUclips somewhere. Checking now...

this sounds awfully similar to the 16 bit Duke Nukem 3D only released for the Sega Mega Drive in Brazil.
