    I am an 84 year old woman and have been eating the carnivore diet for almost 4 years. After listening to Dr. Salandino, I decided to try adding just a little bit of carbs to my diet because, I was having leg cramps and I read somewhere where dates had a lot of minerals and vitamins in them. I decided to try to date a day. Almost immediately I started getting those those little kind of needle pains in my joints. So I stopped eating dates and agai, it was immediate, all those little pains went away. So I have gone back to my strict carnivore and I have never in my life been healthier. I have no health issues that I am aware of.

      I’m 74 3 months carnivore and still problems with oxylate in my fingers, eyes I was 12 years Vegan with little fish. Also iron was very low.
      I stay carnivore 🥩

      Dr. Berry recommends adding Daily Minerals to your water. I don't even taste it in my water anymore and no more cramps.

      I take a multi mineral just in case the meat isn’t of the greatest quality.

    Dr. Saladino's exercise routine is incomprehensibly intense for most people. What he eats doesn't apply to the average sedentary weight loss chaser.

      I've thought the same thing. He surfs every day which is a huge energy burner, then he trains in a number of other ways every day on top of it.

      makes sense. back in the 50s when nearly everyone did physical labor 40 hours a week we ate meat and potatoes but were in shape. The people who sit at a desk all day save for maybe 2 hours a day working out dont need as many carbs. The only day I even consider eating more carbs is the long bike ride day. I figure 3 hours of high level cardio (for me) its ok on that day

      Also his lifestyle is not doable unless you live in a warm sunny place near the sea and have no familial responsibilities. I dare him to switch places with a mother of three in a northern city with a job and do his grounding and surfing and exercise 😂! But the bibliography in his book is pretty good.

    I am Asian. Born and raised Filipino. I grew up in carbs (rice). I am 7 years in carnivore diet. I am still alive, healthy and looking young at 42😊

      I am Mexican so grew up on rice, beans, tortillas, etc. 😋 At least my tortillas were organic nonGMO. 😁
      Now I enjoy beef, steak, eggs, beef, butter, steak, beef, some bacon, beef, butter, steak, and eggs. Oh, and beef too. Did I say steak? 😋

    Yeah, the Hadza ate honey and fruits, but not 7 days a week, all of our primitive ancestors did but it was seasonal, not daily.

      They also only drank water rarely, and black people in general hold on to electrolytes better than white people, likely because we have used a lot of salt for food preservation for ages

      I'll bet they eat fruit and honey way more often that twice a year dude. Those aren't such rare commodities. I think saladino is correct. Different people benefit from varying amounts of veggie carbs. For a lot of people it's very little. It's annoying as hell that for so many folks on this carnivore diet, their main struggle was food addictions, and now they can't handle that other people are able to moderate sugar and carbs. They have to believe that their diet is the only healthy way to eat, in spite of the fact that most people realistically need some amount of fruit or carbs to be optimally healthy

      I live in Norway, and the fruit season here is very short; July - October. The rest of the year people would have very little access to fruit. My ancestors are all from this area and I suspect Im just not genetically adapted to eating lots of fruit every day. I can eat a bit of low carb fruit (raspberries, blackberries etc), but I can to make sure I dont overdo it.

    I think there are several issues with Saladino: First, his lifestyle is very active, more than most people. He is not a model for nearly anyone. Second, his issues were never metabolic issues, so he doesn't have to deal with that broken system, like many of us in this space. Finally, although he is a doctor, I haven't seen that he has significant clinical experience in managing folks with metabolic issues like T2D, obesity, NAFLD, etc. He would probably change his tune when his patients could no longer improve in his way of eating.

      I've only been looking into ketovore/carnivore a couple months. Watching videos of some of the influencer Doc' ran across him on an episode of The Doctors, they destroyed him. I could tell he wasn't fully convinced about carnivore.

      Na, that doesn't sum it up. He was meat only for a while - a long while - and then decided to experiment further by adding fruit as it wasn't working as well as it had. The fruit worked for him so he continued with the fruit. He tried rice and potatoes. It didn't work for him so he didn't continue with the rice and the potatoes. Don't be afraid to change, don't be afraid to experiment, don't be afraid to grow....

    Having listened to a few of his interviews, his rationale is all based on HIM. He hasnt seen a patient in a long time. He isnt metabolically disordered and has the luxury of exercising many hours each day. His thoughts on this matter clearly dont apply to most of us. At all.

    Another anecdotal story: I was on carnivore for 5 years - all digestion problems cleared in months (gastroparesis) - all diabetic ulcer sores healed and no scars within 4 months of Carnivore. No more depression. No craving. High energy and could walk 3 miles in a stretch when previously could only walk 300 steps and was totally breathless and exhausted. I started to look like a human being instead of a bloated huge rounded waddler. If you told me I would ever eat differently I would have laughed. One day I was on a short day hike with my son. When we were done I wanted the experience to last longer. I was so happy to be with him. We stopped as we had many time to get him an ice cream shake. It had not interested me. But out of nowhere I got an ice cream. This would begin a 2 year slide back into certain simple carbs randomly. The rashes began again- a sore opened up eventually - the depression rolled in. I justified or shrugged it off. Cramps returned with a vengeance. Swelling of joints. None of this made me turn things around. I have not forgotten for one day that I need to get back to strict carnivore. I am sharing this because correlation is not causation - my muscles cramped with or without carbs. I have asked many doctors of different disciplines and physical therapists about the cramps/spasms - they all say the same thing “we do not know why people get spasms” - one thing I do know is I have compression on my spine and the weight does not help. I know how to use electrolytes for good health. I just need to apply the actions now. So I am back at the beginning. Let your body tell you. You will know what is right for your body if you stick with the disciplines you choose. And if like me you fall off - get back up and start over.

      You're not alone.. don't give up your journey.
      I started my Carnivore Style of eating 7 months ago.. always trying new ways to cook different Meats n Limit my carbs makes me feel better. I'm not bloated like before.. n I sleep much better. I also do Intermittent Fasting and change up how often n how long.
      Lost 64.. 50 to go!👍

    Most of us that turn to carnivore or medical keto are metabolically ill long before starting this WOE. Moderation is also something we just can't do, so obstaining is our way of finding "food freedom". Saledino has never had those same struggles and can only see this all through his own experience (understandably). However, to not take into consideration that he has a large following of people that could be severely damaged by following his new advice to reintegrate carbs is self-absorbed and neglegent.

      Agreed. Its usually the simple carbs that turn off the hormone ghrelin and that’s why you can’t do moderation. After a while of being on the carnivore diet the body and particularly the beta cells will heal and insulin sensitivity increases. Once the body balances out you will want to eat “complex” carbs again. I did. Keto for a year, lost 15 lbs but still felt off then I switched to plant based and lost at least 15 more and felt the most clear. Then I thought that maybe mostly plants and a sprinkle of meat was better. I’m convinced the solution is somewhere between low meat and no meat but our meats are not really clean enough to eat and it’s hard to find fruits and vegetables that aren’t sprayed.

    I really needed to hear this, tried his diet and it literally made me feel so much worse, not to mention my symptoms returned (inflammation, bad memory, mood swings, bad vision, bad focus, etc.)

      honey, mango, pineapple, apple, banana, avacado, dairy, plain white rice, sweet potato, kiwi, some other fruits probably. Nothing worked, anything that broke me out of ketosis was seemingly bad for me. My inflammation, acne, bad memory, poor focus, etc. it would all come back if I ate enough of any of those things. Some were definitely tolerated better than others, but if I ate too much of any of them, eventually I'd hit a wall and they'd start having adverse effects. I tolerated A2 dairy the best out of everything.@@padraigharrington1228

    In my personal experience, I started carnivore in March at 235lbs, did strict carnivore with a little cheese for 4-5 months and lost 35lbs. My numbers improved a lot, my inflammation was completely gone and I was really getting healthy. I started exercising at that point and started cramping. I should have added more electrolytes to my diet but instead I started eating fruit because of Paul’s ideas. It’s a slippery slope because now by body is craving carbs and sugars and it’s been a little difficult to do full carnivore again. I’m really trying to get back to carnivore or even just Keto at this point. Fruit and honey did not do me any good. Thank you and I appreciate what you do for us Dr. Westman!

      Don't give up !!!!! . That slippery slope is a killer....what helps me is to focus on consequences of the inflammation.......PAIN and FATIGUE. ❣️ Don't give up !!!!🥰

      I changed from carnivore/keto to eating that way the first 5-6hours of the day, then i add my carb meals after these hours. Morning coffee with butter and cream, then eggs and butter, cream cheese. Then i eat potatoes with beef etc. Lost some weight doing this. Also supplement vitamin d3 5,000-10,000 iU per day.

      Hadza 20% diet honey. They follow birds that seek it. 50% diet is carbs. Anthropologist Dr. Herman Pontzer wrote about them if you have a mind to read up on it. Pontza is out of Duke like Westman, I believe.

      The availability of honey depends on flowers. It's seasonal. Also, they are completely grounded and living in a non toxic environment. We know that EMF and Blue Light from screens raises blood glucose independent of food intake. Hence the problem. Also, we can't assume the hadza diet is optimal for humans anyway. It's good enough for them to be absent of chronic disease but that could be environmental not food based.

    The phrase _normal_ has to be treated with extreme caution as for instance a _normal_ American is metabolically unhealthy.

      Dr Paul has numerous vids on honey. Honey is not a sugar but obviously contains sugar and raw honey works totally different in the body than regular "sugar".

    This is why I appreciate Dr Westman. He presents the science. The importance of this cannot be understated.
    Dr Saladino started out Carnivore, then followed the money.
    I can't really say to much about Thomas DeLauer.
    Either.
    A very well known, long time keto influencer said she overheard Thomas DeLauera at a keto conference say. "Keto is just a fad"

      Yeah, a 100 year fad. Some people just can't get past the cognitive dissonance to get to the other side and be rational. I'm talking about Saladino and Delauera. It reeks to me of 'financial incentives'.

      @@TwdlD I think they both take steroids. You cannot get that big naturally. Trust me I know I worked out for many years with no major muscle gains. Then took steroids and within 6 weeks my muscles were popping. This was back in 2004 and have not used them since.

    Dr Ben Bikman has a lecture in which he talks about the 'Plagues of Prosperity' where he addresses what is talked about here. Ancestrally, yes, we celebrated the carbs because they were rare and seasonal, and eating them helped us prepare for the winter season of lack. Having that plenty year round for years on end overloads and breaks our systems because we are naturally meant to go along with the seasons.
    And once our system is 'broken' we need to reset it by limiting those things that were naturally scarce. (Eating low carb in other words)
    People who are metabolically healthy can tolerate more carbs, but if they use that as an excuse to eat the 'SAD' diet, they will find themselves becoming not so metabolically healthy.

    Saladino was a partial carnivore. Not a true carnivore. He ate honey and fruit too before he quit being a carnivore. He's such an active guy and young he can still remain fairly healthy eating a high amount of healthy carbs. I just think when all said and done, he missed many of the foods he used to eat, and just made a decision to reintroduce carbs into his diet.

    Wow. You pretty much dissected and killed any argument he had like a gentleman, its like if I am watching Professor Bart Kay with no cursing lol. Great video. Paul always dodges hard questions or throws in personal anecdotes when he is cornered.
    Anyone with a brain can put 2+2. His following wasn't enough and he started Heart and soil supplements. He included carbohydrates in his diet and his following grew exponentially. He is actually pretty smart financially speaking. Sad thing is, he is irresponsible since most of the world is obese and his following will likely be obese, pre diabetic, glucose addicts people who are looking for reassurance they can keep on eating sugar.

    It's scientifically proven eating high carb plus high fat together is a disaster waiting to happen. Bart Kay explains the Randle cycle inducing insulin resistance over time eating this way. Dr Richard Johnson and Dr Lustig both also explains the intracacies behind excess fructose consumption. Don't know if Saladino has noticed but he's got a protruding gut now compared to his older videos

      There is a clear distinction between how glucose and fructose both metabolize and affect metabolic pathways. There are no commercially available tests to check fructose glycation and damages. Paul is after the fructose in fruit and honey not their glucose content. That is the only reason for anyone to seek out sweet carbs. Glucose/starch is not sweet such as rice, potato, green bananas, etc.
      If what he's doing works for him, more power to him. But promoting it as optimal and to reverse insulin resistance is dangerous

    Dr. Westman is on point which I would expect no less. Saladino unfortunately was not keeping his electrolytes in balance. Also I believe he was eating a LOT of organs. Also, protein does illecit a glucose spike so in turn an insulin signal increase. Don't need carbs to do that. I am saddened by Paul's recent videos over the last couple years because he was really good a few years ago. He really hasn't done the science and research, it is all basically his "thoughts" similar to Joey Schwartz.

    Thank you for the clarity you bring to this topic. I know from experience, after doing very low carbs coming from vegetables, for about 2 years, that if I overindulge in carbs, or eat high carb fruit, that I retain fluid and feel "sickly" the next day. Everyone is different. My thinking is that as I focus on my metabolic health, and I feel much better. I appreciated the Dr.s Edes broadcast you recently put up. They really helped me to see that I am doing well and can continue to follow this lifestyle.

    When my husband was diagnosed with high blood pressure that just kept going up and up, with one medication after another, I googled! I found Keto, but not really how to do it. We tried internet Keto, not working very well, but he was better. Then we tried take this, eat that Keto and it was expensive and hard to follow if the mail didn't arrive on time. I also wasn't getting better on the take this, eat that and my husband was still on 2 blood pressure meds. Then I got your inexpensive book (compared to Dr. visits) and found that it was really easy to follow and food was easy to get. 6 months later, my husband is off 1 med and down to the lowest dose on the other, I am finally feeling better! I tried the keto carbs (our first try) and it did nothing more than help us transition. As we went lower and lower on carbs, the better and better we felt! I feel sorry for him, but having tried every way of eating, keto is the way to go!

    SAlatino by his own admission he had muscle aches and twitches in the night. This guy also by his own admission serfs 5 hours a day. Then he lifts. He is also a middle aged man, i think 45 years old. So much exercise in his age it damages his muscles and joints. Or the amount on sweat he produces. Or cortisol. He already lives in a tropical climate. But ultimately i suspect the main reason was that there aren't any sponsors in carnivores

      I think it’s different for everyone. Fruit isn’t at the top of my binge foods list because I usually start to feel a bit off. My triggers are generally processed foods like chips cheese breads and other baked goods pasta and ice cream. However if I eat fruit later on it will trigger my appetite. I’m low carb because these foods trigger an insatiable appetite. Roasted potatoes weirdly don’t seem to trigger so a side of potatoes is something I include maybe 3 times a month.
      I have binge eating disorder though so that’s my main reason for wanting to be low carb because I can see my own hunger cues what’s a trigger for a bing concerning the kinds of foods I eat and all that.

    Dr Westman is stable. His message was truth when I first saw him. I was doing Atkins Induction (which I stayed on), the book Atkins for a New You came out. Dr Westman learned from the best and has always kept his science sound, relevant and up to date with the latest research.

    No way am I going back to carbs. I lost 80 pounds LONG AGO before keto even became popular by adopting the keto diet for myself. I lost ALL of my health issues on keto and have not had any medical or health issues for many, many years by sticking to keto. Going back to a carb diet is insane!!!

    Paul Saladino is eating too much liver (at many times the proportions you would find it in animals) and either the iron overload or hypervitaminosis A is what likely caused all his issues, however, he is unable to admit this this as he is heavily invested in his liver pill company. None of the muscle-meat carnivores that have done it for significantly longer have had these issues.

    As far as becoming less tolerant of carbs after you've been very low carb for some time, and having a high response to a carb load, suggesting insulin resistance, I'm inclined to think of a recovered alcoholic, who used to be able to "hold his liquor", now it takes less alcohol to produce the same degree of visible impairment. Just my thoughts.

      It's not insulin resistance, if you have the subject eat an increasing amount of carbohydrates over 3 days before the test, their insulin response is normal. 3 days so you aren't doing damage to them. The reason is that we have 2 states to insulin release, the first uses stored insulin, and the latter newly created insulin, long term keto depletes the stores insulin (as it is not used), so the first stage does not trigger the first time you have carbohydrates.

    I do agree with dr. Westman. I do a lot of training/exercise. Heavy lifting, walking, running and cycling. 9 years keto diet now. Not any problem, furthermore, I have never ever been that strong and fit. Carbs? Those were the old days …

    I can never thank Dr Paul Saladino enough as it was his interview with Ivor Cummins that made me look into Carnivore for an autoimmune issue. I read his book which will always remain an essential Carnivore diet resource IMHO. It is disappointing that Paul has reverted to eating fruit and honey and even worse that he is advocating this to everyone. I appreciate Dr Westman doing his “usual” with Saladino and pointing out that both he and De Lauer are only talking from personal experience when it comes to blood tests and reintroducing carbs.

There isn't a doctor or "expert" alive who can retract or diminish a 90% success rate over 50-years regardless of their disinformation and/or wrong information disseminated on the internet. There is no refutation when someone is as successful as Dr. Morse. No one comes close in fact. People have been lied to for too long which is evidenced upon reading some of the comments on these videos. I defy anyone on the entire internet to debate Dr. Morse face to face and tell him that the millions of people he's cured aren't cured, then tell those people they aren't cured.       I also added in a few carbs after I met my weight loss goal, but some foods make me bloat. Trick is to stay away from those and still keep the carbs low. I do feel best when I eat strict carnivore though.

    I find it really annoying when Dr. Saladino says "We" shouldn't fear an insulin spike or glucose, like "We" are all the same. He's a guy who surfs for hours, does jiu jitsu, lifts weights etc so he's obviously metabolically healthy but he's not taking into account that that lifestyle isn't what I would call 'normal'. I've lived a life very similar to his in that I was a wrestler then a serious weight lifter for almost 50 years. He's kind of coming across as self absorbed and not taking into account the average person isn't going to be nearly as active as he is so should they still not fear insulin spikes? Should they eat 300 grams of carbs a day? He should speak to Tim Noakes. Anybody can become insulin resistant even if they train a lot. And of course the Hadza love honey, they're human! If they had access to all the sugar we do in the west of course many of them would become diabetic, metabolically unhealthy and they'd have more heart disease and cancer IF they had access to all the crap we do. It's called food addiction. Yeesh

    Paul Clearly said he was having heart palpitations, muscle cramps and sleep disturbances, which was why he slowly added carbohydrates back in his diet, which in time these issues resolved. Eric says he quit the carnivore/keto diet because of some concerning lab results, but that is not the case.
    I had the same problems on the carnivore/keto diet, after initially doing great. Heart palpitations that would would make me stop what i was doing during the day, and even wake me up at night. Despite heavy electrolyte supplementation, my heart palpitations continued to get worse. I carried salt in my pocket, added Relyte electrolytes and ketochow electrolyte drops to all the water i drank, heavily salted my meat, and the palpitations continued. I was also spraying magnesium oil on my skin daily.
    Learning of Paul's experience, I slowly added low toxic carbs back into my diet, and my heart palpitations slowly went away as well. I am thankful Paul shared his experience with us, as I'd much rather take a daily dose of honey than a daily dose of a beta blocker.

      My thyroid is normal. All my labs I’ve had checked at doctor visits have been normal. I even had multiple more labs tested than my doctor had wanted to check. I’m healthy and active at age 36. I truly believe it was electrolyte issues from prolonged low insulin levels (about 14 months carnivore/keto before the palpitations started).

      I used to have random palpitations. Stopped as soon as i gave up coffee and chocolate. At first I thought it might be the keto diet, but actually it was the caffeine. As a bonus, my gastritis also went away. Haven’t had any issues ever since. Be careful with coffee and chocolate folks.

    Using African natives’ lifestyle as a reason to eat more carbs is ludicrous- their total lifestyle is so different from the average person who lives in the west. Besides this guy now spends most of his time surfing😂😂😂😂so that too isn’t exactly the average guy. Thank you Dr Westman again keeping us grounded 🙏🫶👏❤️

    I’m cringing at Paul saying what he’s saying. People who have types of metabolic syndrome and fatty liver really thrive on low and no carb diets. Also it’s something to note that carnivore being an elimination diet helped him heal his eczema and now that condition is healed he’s capable to adding foods with carbs back into his diet.
    However what he’s doing is muddying the waters and adding my a lot of confusion and it really mak s me wonder if he is getting a big check to do so. Also Paul likely isn’t eating processed foods and that’s something his followers could think his approval of carbs and then choose the worst options.

      I agree, I have his book and he says he cut everything other than meat and avocado out of his diet and he still had eczema, it wasn’t until he cut out the avocado that his symptoms went away. Maybe carnivore isn’t the best for him long term but he really should acknowledge it’s what healed his gut and allows him to eat the way he does today. He really has gone off the rails and just looks for science to agree with what he wants to portray

Could you even imagine the only diet you ever had in your life was the diet you had as a baby? I think it’s wise we all get into the habit of over time reassess what we are doing for ourselves and where to go from there. Still it’s incredibly dangerous what he’s doing as I can picture his followers thinking he’s giving the green light for junk food.

Most people in fact eat 90 percent of the same meals every week . They don’t actually eat much different week to week , biologically the body thrives on the same things .. so without thinking about it , people eat those “staples “ .. which is why if those foods aren’t great for the body , people’s health nose dives ! People always go back to comfort .. that thing they have always done time and time again .. grow up on pancakes , they continue to want pancakes .. and so on .. most of us eat how are parents did generationally ..

    This guy drives me nuts (Saladino) when he talks about tribes in Africa liking carbs/honey: Of course they like honey! But how often do they find a bee hive to eat?!!! These folks also don't sit at a desk job and eat fruit and honey all day! Most of us don't live like tribes in Africa so, to hold up what they eat like it's a paragon of nutrition for all people is insane.

      Not really. 20% their diet is honey. 50% carb. The anthropologists also tracked the mesai (spelling?) in Africa who walk nearly all day & found what you would not believe. They burn the same number of calories per day as we do. The body is baffling !

      I wonder if sunlight might indeed help explain something. I personally was alarmed at how rapidly he appeared to be aging when 100% or near 100% carnivore. His rapid aging is absolutely not something recent and not something that started with more carbs.

    I am no expert but I think the following is probably true. Mammals are naturally “carboholics” who relish and seek out carbs whenever possible. This pursuit probably bestowed some metabolic benefits in prehistoric environments when sources of concentrated carbs were relatively rare and hard to find. Mammals were forced to go long periods without consuming carbohydrates in large doses.
    However in the modern world, where sources of highly refined carbs are found everywhere and actively promoted, telling people who have achieved metabolic benefits on low carb/Ketogenic diets that they can now consume amble amounts of carbs daily (but not too much), is the equivalent of telling a recovering alcoholic, he is free to have a couple of drinks every day (but no more than two).
    The long-term prognosis for his continued recovery is likely to be very poor.
    Just my 2 cents...

    I think that Paul has an oxalate issue. I like him used to be plant based and went WAAAYYY overboard on high oxalate foods and after going carnivore and continuing for a couple years, all the sudden I started dumping and getting all the symptoms he says he had. I think this will be a problem in the carnivore community but it won’t be the meat’s fault. Whether your science shows it or not, oxalates are a serious issue and it’s been really hard to deal with.

    Paul talks about the tribe preferring honey. Off course, it is sugar and addictive. In the west we prefere sugar and can get it in an endless supply. But these tribes people would not have honey all the time, only as a treat when it is avaliable.

    In nature, honey is a very occasional treat. Especially if the colony is destroyed in the process of harvesting. Wouldn't take long to substantially reduce bee numbers in the local environment with this approach. Speaking as a beekeeper. Of course its desired as it is rare and it tastes good.
    As a formerly very fit, now just fit person, my blood work was very good as I approached my 50s. I ate a mix of carbs and protein with very little junk food. But as my 50's progressed, my activity went down a bit and my bp started creeping up even though the labs were still pretty good. I considered the medication just a coverup for what was going on. My brother tried keto and brought his blood pressure down, so I tried it and now my blood pressure is normal and am off medication. I consider these diets a concession to getting older as our metabolism changes and our activity slows down. As a side note my last labs were very good, with HDL going even higher and triglycerides falling even further than already very good labs.
    I have trouble eating enough low carb to keep weight on, so I have an occasional potato. I track blood pressure to make sure I stay in a good zone. Still trying to figure out the best mix for me.
    I don't pay much attention to younger very fit influencers. Intense activity can let you overcome flaws in a diet. I have seen it in myself. I am more interested in those who are getting older, but are still active. They are in a more critical stage of life where the margins for error are smaller.

    There is a little narcissism involved here I believe. I’m currently in the carnivore space personally, but I always refer people to your space because you are so grounded in a principled approach. I would also think Dr. Bickman would have a lot to say about these confident claims about “insulin resistance” on both ends of the metabolic spectrum. I am choosing mostly carnivore at the moment mostly because of the simplicity. I can’t imagine going beyond 20 total grams of carbs/day. Thank you for your solid approach Dr. Westman.

    I saw exactly when he change his tune… right when the Strong Sistas went off carnivore diet ( for their heath) right when the changed their diet to Whole Foods he changed his tune… thats my pov.. he does extreme workouts and telling me it’s ok to eat carbs… my workouts are no where near what he does …only if im running 12plus miles would I add carbs… but I’m not running 12+ every day

    It is my hypothesis that Paul got electrolyte disturbances because he regularly ate organ meats like liver. The hypothesis is that liver contains the wrong ratio and amount of nutrients to what the body wants. The problem for Paul is that he has a company that sells organ meats supplements, so he is unable to even consider that organ meats might be bad to consume, and that his tagline of eating "nose to tail" is wrong.

      I would assume that if one ate the liver proportional to the rest of the animal then should be fine. So 1 liver per animal , meat cuts, other organs, fat, whatever. If he was chowing on beef liver a lot, without consuming a major amount of the rest, then the ratio will be way off. I think the ancestor diet idea tends mostly to ignore that they may have had a lot of small game, rats, small birds, eggs, stuff growing on the ground. Honey bees in nature are rare, even highly farmed bees nowadays need so much care. I think honey would have been rare.

      It's not wrong, it just has to be proportionate. A cow might weigh 500kg. A liver is at most 10kg. My maths is shocking, but proportionately, for every 5kg of muscle meat, you can have 100g of liver. It's not a lot. And its easy to eat 100g of liver in a meal, every day. It's too much! I probably eat around 500g of meat per day, so every 10 days i can have some liver. Moderation is necessary, but does not make nose to tail bad. There is plenty of offal that you could eat with abundance, however it's not fatty, and not all nutritionally dense.

    All I know is that I retired in 2019 - exhausted. I started a keto diet in 2020 and immediately lost 30 lbs and felt so amazing that I went back to work (when financially, I don’t need to work-thanks to a union pension and a lifetime of savings). Also, my blood went from years of borderline high to 120/70. I never that I would see 120/70! I’m happier and enjoying life. I’m not going back to the SAD.

    Dr Bart Kay said that it was mostly a problem with his high use of organs and his OMAD carnivore who gave him cramps as he excercise hard every day , he recomended to eat 2 or tree times a day to elevate his insulin response , and not adding huge amount of carbs.

    The problem i have with most of the arguments towards carbs is that through development of plants and fruits theres currently aa abundance of sugar all of a sudden and this has never been the case in the past thousands of years ago. They for the most part just didn't exist.

    Of course, if I have a teaspoon of honey at night before I go to bed my blood glucose will be lower in the morning. Because my liver didn’t have a reason to dump insulin into my blood stream. But, eating honey isn’t going to heal my liver. My liver needs to release all that stored sugar.

    I dieted myself to over 310 lbs. at 5’ 3”, so had gastric bypass surgery in 2000. I lost only 70 lbs and gradually gained back 40 of that. Tried Keto and only lost 20 pounds. Heard about carnivore and lost another 70 lbs. Maintained until recently when I became a widow. I found I needed to go to a food pantry where most food is carbohydrates. Within 2 weeks I started gaining weight. I’m not sure what I can do now to stay healthy. I just know my body can’t handle carbohydrates. We may be all the same but we are still all different in how our bodies function. 22:25

      Make sure you eat enough fat. Try adding 50grams of butter on top of what you normally eat. If you crave carbs it means you are in need of energy.
      You may need to try limiting protein to like 60-90grams a day for a couple of weeks to.

    I think that's spot on ..what is optimal for each person is the key .. depends on their life style and health ..my uncle lives in India ..in a village .like he is 68 years all his life he works in the farm ..walk ride a bycle ..work like in avg 100 degrees days ..he is very thin ..I am sure he is not insulin resistant..most of their diet is rice ..once in a while they eat little meat ...but people who eat same rice and work om office jobs in india get all type of health problems..cause they eat more carbs than they needed ..I check old 90s pic of my relatives ..all them are skinny in india ..why ..they were eating mostly rice nack then too...but they were walking..active
    .less sugar ...no oil ...so it all depends on ones life style..but any given day I feel lot better on keto

    I have been carnivore for over 3yrs and solved most of my 20+ conditions , some which were severe and some minor (including loosing 85 lbs, getting off blood pressure meds, significantly improving debilitating arthritis, getting rid of peripheral neuropathy, IBS, eczema, etc). A couple years ago when Saladino first started adding fruit back in. As an experiment, I did the same for a few weeks. Within a few days, my eczema and IBS came back. When I stopped the experiment, it went away after about a week. As for the cramps, his went away when he added carbs. Thats might be because carbs retain water. If you are carnivore you need to make sure to drink enough water. When I drink enough, no cramps. When I don't drink enough, I get cramps. That solution came from Judy Cho. As for the heart issues, maybe it was all the liver/organ supplements he consumed. I ended that ritual as well. Now I just eat beef, bacon, eggs, salt water, butter and some raw cheese (chicken once in a while). Everything has been going well. (btw, I started when I was 58)

      I was diagnosed with Lyme and I slowly found keto years ago. I think I have a bad Bartonella infection still. Mental health has been bad and keeps sending me back to carbs for comfort. No question when I'm on keto the symptoms are much better. Glad to hear they are reminding keto/carnivore. Carnivore will be even more of an elimination from possible reactions.

    Saladino was never truly "carnivore" in the classic sense. He incorporated fruit & honey into his diet. It will be interesting to see how this affects his supplement side hustle. Look what happened to the liver king. Anyhoo, Profs Phinney, Noakes & Volek are the experts to listen to regarding nutrition for endurance performance , and not Saladino.

      So-called experts may or may not be more erudite than you/us, the sick people. You'd think they should know better than most, but here's my experience. Anecdotal? Not really, as it's in their program.
      I was on the Virta Health program for several months, and they have seed oils as a go-to healthy fat on keto. I finally left the program as I learnt more and more about how deleterious the seed oils are to human cells.
      Now, this doesn't mean I don't listen to these experts. Of course, I do, but I never ever believe them blindly and take their words so religiously. They're just dudes and chicks at the end of the day, perhaps better than the average Pharma pushing mainstream healthcare professionals, trying to do the best they can.

    I became insulin resistant on a plant based diet . 30days on carnivore and I've never felt better I've gained more muscle and lost more body fat than I ever did on a plant based diet. And I work out 6 days a week doing heavy lifting and cardio on rest days.
