I can't find any research Dr. Fuhrman has done on the carnivore diet at all.
He sells LOTS of plant-based products, including books he has written, & SUPPLEMENTS! There's your money shot there! Big bucks in supplements ay?
So what supplements do carnivores need? I've started taking daily electrolytes actually since yesterday, to see if that will help with finger & toe cramps. Trying to drink more water too. I hate liver & kidney, but I can cop paté alright spread on some well cooked meat! I'm feeling fine a few weeks in. But I don't think I need any supplements!
I've not been the perfect carnivore every single day, but 96% of the time I am! Maybe more accurately I should call myself a ketovore? And if I err it's like a teaspoon of raw sugar in my coffee at a friend's house, instead of my stevia.
I eat eggs, bacon, maan I love bacon! A lot of beef mince or ground beef, lamb, pork chops sometimes. Those big ole ribeye steaks look yummo, but are a bit expensive. I should splurge one day & buy one. I'd probly marinate it & bake it. I've gotta have my meat fully cooked right through with zero blood or pink, or I can't eat it. Ew! Even burnt a bit is ok. Up to 6 eggs with meat mostly.
I use use onion & garlic a lot, & I throw in a small carrot in quite often. I also use peeled tomatoes & tomato paste. I make curries with coconut sometimes. They are the only veges I eat, & they seem ok; I really used them for years. There's oxalates in tomato paste & seeds, but it seems my system is ok with it. Maybe I may try removing all these for a bit, but I really like them for their flavours.
But Dr. Fuhrman should not be making such idiotic, inflammatory statements about the carnivore diet. He clearly has conflicts of interest since he SELLS the stuff he promotes.
I'll be open-minded, I'll accept people could be healthy on a considered, supplemented plant-based diet with no meat intake. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's the ONLY way to eat! According to Fuhrman, it is the only way. Meh, no.
Ancient & prehistoric humanoids were overwhelmingly carnivores according to research cited by Dr. Anthony Chaffee, using some kind of analysis on their teeth & bone. So I'm not gonna listen to anything this guy says at all. He's way too dismissive & one eyed, & his aggression pollutes my thinking, which I can do without. His plant-based diet my be ok, but he still has idiot ideas, which negate everything else.

Don't you know why red meat is responsible for nearly all colon or bowel cancer? It happens because the body can't break down red meat properly. So waste lodged in the colon and intestines. Especially in fools who don't eat enough fibre which is most Americans. Then over time it can putrify and go change the cells in that area of the body. And thats when these cancers start. Dairy causes alot of PROSTATE cancer.

I had a copy of Fuhrman’s book “Eat to Live” and ate a high vegetable, low fat meat diet for many years. I maintained my weight around 165 and thought I was doing pretty well. My first husband was on a strict VEGAN diet for nearly two years. Friends and family kept asking if he was undergoing chemo because he got so skinny. Then he lost feeling in his extremities and had to see a neurologist. They thought he had multiple sclerosis. He luckily started reading a cookbook that referred to Weston Price. He finally started eating meat again and got weekly B-12 shots and reversed his severe malnutrition from his Vegan diet. Scary!! I have to admit that he did go to Dr. Joel Fuhrman in Flemington, NJ and he really believed in him. It almost killed him!

For health reasons I went total vegetarian, vegan, raw foods, for over five years. However, for me, things went from bad to worse. The turning point was when, after a blood panel, my doctor told me to reduce my red meat intake and exercise more. Well, if being a vegan and hiker wasn’t enough, then what was the use? I introduced meat back into my diet, reduced the sugars and carbs and wouldn’t you know it, everything started getting better. My next blood panel proved I was on the right track. The doctor then had to admit she was doing the same thing and that’s why she was already off three of her four meds (she was twenty years younger than me), and loosing weight, too. I’m 73 and do not need any medications.

With hindsight, I can honestly say that over my lifetime (pushing 7 decades), doctors have caused me far more harm than good. The lack of integrity in the health care system that became blatantly obvious in the spring of 2020 is what began my search for answers that eventually led me to carnivore. Lo and behold, a number of conditions that I had accepted as "age-related" and wasn't even focused on just happened to resolve themselves -- so thankful that I wasn't steered away by the so-called "experts." I'd rather have ten more years feeling as well as I do now than thirty more years being miserable like I was before carnivore. That said, I fully anticipate a longer and far healthier life ahead of me than I did three years ago.

Same here, western medicine and medical doctors have also caused me more harm than good, in the long run. I'm still recovering from an iatrogenic illness caused by a medication prescribed by my doctor. So much suffering from side effects and other consequences, it nearly took my life, twice. I no longer visit a doctor unless I absolutely have to, and then I take what they say with a grain of salt and do my own research before following their advice or taking their pills. The last time I took an anti-biotic it cured my gum infection, but a whole string of other negative effects flowed on from the imbalance caused by the pills, causing all kinds of issues which lasted months. I should have let my infection heal by itself, which is what I usually do. Safely back on a meat based keto diet now, and feeling better already.

I am a retired nurse. In the height of the low fat scam, 2 of my coworkers started a low fat diet. They lost weight, lost their hair, skin looked like leather, was always broke buying the low fat 'foods'. They lost weight. Stopped the diet, gained all weight and some. Their hair did not come back. Skin still looked horrible. I also worked with vegan, vegetarians, same look. I went on Atkins over 20 years ago. Controlling my weight, lots of energy, working circles around these people. Now on carnivore and still doing great!!! Lots more to this story but to want to jail people for being healthy is totally ridiculous! I have a right to pursue happiness in this country and WHO DOES THIS DOCTOR THINK HE IS!!! He should measure his words carefully.

BUT THE HUGE FLAW in the test was they were fed stuff that werent meant for them naturally. in short they were fed garbage. so ofcourse if you reduce the garbage intake(the very shit thats killing you) then you live longer. this was confirmed by a new study where mice were fed what they were naturally meant to eat and their lifespan was the same as those with restricted calories. i heard this info from dr chaffee i think.

Thank you Dr. Westman for your thoughtful response to Dr. Fuhrman's idiotic assertions. I started Keto a few years ago; lost over 50 lbs., got off blood pressure and acid reflux medications; i am no longer prediabetic; joints do not hurt much; my kidney dr. does not want to see me any more; my hdl is high, triglicerides low; but my physician still wants me to go on cholestoral meds because my LDL is "high". I ate lots of animal fats and yet lost fat. I have gone off "the diet wagon" eating pastries and ice cream recently and immediately gained fat on my body and had to go back to size 12 pants from size 12, and L from M tops (before going keto i wore size 18 and XL clothes). Next month i shall be 82 yrs. old. My goal is to be healthy when i die. So more carnivore and fewer vegetables from now on.
