This car is supremely underrated, I own an 85 vg30et, I just finished rebuilding a 87 transmission for the 300zx and put a performance clutch & flywheel from centerforce Great car, loads of potential, just needs more publicity
Yeah it is, but it gets attention and alot of attention. Folks tell me how they use to have one in their youth. Gives people an idea of how cool they can be.The Z31 is making a come back!
You made the radiator smaller. A lot smaller. For that setup and locations you have next to no air flow thru it and You will need a very thick radiator along with ducting to try and develop some amount of positive pressure in front of the radiator. Not impossible, but I see it as a good challenge. Good luck bud, and cool z31 content.
Yeah your right it's alot smaller. I did improve the ducting. I think the radiator mod I'm going to do will hopefully work out. Glad you enjoy the vids.
Just binge watched a bunch of your videos and I loved every single one of them. I’m 16 and I’ve been looking for a fun first car and I can across a really clean 1988 300zx manual turbo runs and drives I’ve saved up some money working in the summer and I’m considering buying it for 2800 what do you think?
Awesome! Yeah 2800 for a running driving turbo is a good deal. 88 is the updated body style like the one I have. Always smart to try and haggle the price. Maybe see if they will take a little less but 2800 sounds good. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Import Modify awsome thankyou very much for responding! Ok so i need measurements for it because cxracing wont pick up phone lol need measurements from front of oil pan until sump, and from rear of pan until sump, also how deep is the sump part and how wide. Thankyou cery much!! If aomething let me know and dm me at my ig: @manny240drift thanks again!
I believe I have the 15mm front and 30mm rear. The front I had to trim a little bit off the end of each stud. It wouldn't allow the rim to mount flush. Rears fit just fine. Go to my playlist and watch " Z31 300zx Turbo Spacer install and first drive "
Of course it would! Parts are cheap but most have been neglected and need a little effort to make right. Look out for rust and better to find one that runs. Good luck with your future project!
Absolutely and no... It’s a super cool car albeit, You gotta have a solid amount of automotive knowledge or you’ll confuse yourself into debt. IF! You’re willing to put just as much money spent buying the car to condition and get it running smoothly then yes go for it, it’s rare, fun, sounds sexier than a step sister, has loads of tuning potential (if you do some deep research and join z31 community groups, etc) but yes great car to brag ab if you find one for $3000 (just example number) Have $6000 total Never purchase a project car unless you can buy it twice. @@importmodify . That is understandable. it can't be to hard and it will teach me alot about cars. I've gotten my parts from ebay, summit racing, rt trackpro, powertrix ect... something like a heater core I'd try all the parts sellers like rock auto, autozone ect... I'll try and see if I can find one later this week when I get a chance. More than likely it will need to be ordered online.
@@importmodify does it need to be exactly that year for the heater core? Cause ive noticed on ebay listings they list it as 84, 85, 86,87 300zx heater core. Love people who takes care of Z31’s.

Yes I absolutely agree
at least im not the only one who thinks the z31 is a fucking beast
This is some pretty great content, definitely not much out there of people doing daily builds on these z31's
Thank you very much!
As a former Z31 owner. Its truly under appreciated .

Import Modify sorry for the long message lol
Make sure you didn't wire your fan in backwards. I did that, it would run cool sitting and around town until driving at speed over time.
I did check that. It's pulling like it suppose too. I'm thinking the radiator is just too small.
You could try a proper Z31 radiator that is mounted in the car properly as intended on a Z31...nobody else has cooling issues. lol
Nah I like my setup. I'll get it cooling properly. It's not my daily. Working on a new radiator setup right now.
@@importmodify well certainly interested to see. It's a clean car overall.
what coilovers do you run? and are you still on stock subframes or did you swap them?
I'm running powertrix coil overs. I still have the original subframe but I replaced all bushings with polyurethane ones.
Import Modify you did it right!!!

Yeah you probably will if you are using the stock wheels.
What’s the kit on the Front lip?
Msa auto jdm lip kit.
Where did you get the rear braided brake lines?
eBay. Just search your year and car along with ss brake lines. My car has the whole kit. It's a total of 6 pieces.
I have a question so I'm 16 do you think a z31 would be a good first project car

If it has it listed to fit all those years it means that it is that same part used throughout those years. It should fit.
maybe your fan doesnt push the right way !
I did check it, it's pulling like it is supposed to. I think it's my radiator size. Going to fix that next. Stay tuned!
