That being said I would like to see what style sleeper Tesla comes out with for their trucks in terms of space and bed sizes since they are not standard sizes, or if they offer standard sizes which would mean one could bring/use their own mattress of choice as they use in the comfort of their own home meaning more comfortable sleep on the road and not having to buy custom size covers and sheets for said bed. If the trucks can really perform 0-60 in 5 seconds that would be amazing. No worrying about pulling from traffic light, roundabout, overtaking another semi on the highway etc. But imagine the cargo condition after acceleration like that (0 - 60 with cargo maybe 10 seconds or more)
If you look at the actual Tesla reveal/presentation they said it will do 0-60 in 5s without trailer. And at full 80.000 pounds max vehicle weight it will do 0-60 in 20s. So in 20s nothing happens to the cargo. Also its not like you're forced to accelerate at max throttle.

300 mi range in the smaller version and 500 mi range in the bigger one. It only takes 30 min to charge though, and by law in the US all truckers must stop something like every 4 hours for at least 30 min. 4 hours is less than 500 miles so you can go cross country in these trucks easily. Top tier semis do 45mph up a 5% grade, tesla semi does 65mph up a 5% grade. As for pavement handling idk lol but I’m sure there’s an answer somewhere out there
The range for the main version is 500 miles, range for the smaller version is 300 miles, with a charging rate of 80% that in 30 minutes, it can go 65 mph at a 5% grade, it doesn't break down.
Love the idea but the one question all freight companies are asking that has not been answered is the weight of the vehicle. I could be completely wrong but the large battery in the Tesla's could possibly make this vehicle substantially heavier than most of the widely used gasoline semis. The weight is so important because federal laws limit the gross weight of the vehicle and any cargo weight that is sacrificed towards accommodating the additional weight of the battery means a loss of revenue. The breakthrough in technology is amazing to see but right now in time it would most likely be a terrible economic decision to buy a Tesla semi at a premium price over a standard semi and not even have the ability to carry the same load. With gov't subsidies, increasing gasoline prices, and improvements in technology the economic loss in the future could narrow, but the main goal of companies is to minimize costs and I just don't see this design as a market contender in present time.
These are what we call Super singles. Each one handles twice the weight. Pretty good idea until you have a flat tire. With dual you can limp it to a shop. but with singles, you're stuck on the side of the road until somebody comes out and fixes it.
The motors in the truck don't really look that big so plenty of room for upgrade power if the other companies try to compete. Like the concept - hope the trucking companies get it a try.
BYD has only two for a combines 400 something hp and a range of 120 at best, same goes for Cummins with 100 mile range as well, who is to say how long they actually take to recharge.
Freakin' cool ride. I wanna have this with luxury RV all electric 300 to 500 miles range and pull trailer on the side. Either that or just a luxy camper style sleeper at the back and you're rockin. Thanks for posting bro. Hope you can drag race this in the future. :)
This version doesn't come with the sleeper, they plan on adding that about a year after initial release, next year is the release of this, so, in two years they will have that.
Not sure how it will be a 6 wheel drive when only the four sets or rear wheels will be powered, same as how a typical semi truck is also 6x4 through a differential shaft.Unless its got spikes or a chain it is not going to operate well on ice, then again its a torque vectoring system so I would be lightly surprised if it manages somewhat on ice.
If you think about it, a driver must take a 30 minute break every 4 hours, the truck can add up to 400 miles of range in that time. That makes the range of this truck amost infinite as long as the driver takes all his legal breaks

With gov't subsidies, increasing gasoline prices, and improvements in technology the economic loss in the future could narrow, but the main goal of companies is to minimize costs and I just don't see this design as a market contender in present time.
True this weighs almost 4x a regular semi there for its not the best idea just yet.
Only 4 rear wheels? *Any specs available on the Goodyear tires?*
Is that prophet from Crysis?
Wow I’m watching this and people wear no masks I miss those days
Freakin' cool ride. I wanna have this with luxury RV all electric 300 to 500 miles range and pull trailer on the side. Either that or just a luxy camper style sleeper at the back and you're rockin. Thanks for posting bro. Hope you can drag race this in the future. :)
The one thing I don't like about it is the fact that he is using the super single tires
cant wait for your to drag race it againts a golf gti:)
When are we going to see them driving on the highway?
Never, or at least not for a while. These trucks would only be good in city applications.
As a trucker I'm interested in the Load capacity
80k but it only gets 250 miles on a charge it's not going to out do diesel
Isn't sleeping on a bed behind the seat a major part of being a trucker?
This version doesn't come with the sleeper, they plan on adding that about a year after initial release, next year is the release of this, so, in two years they will have that.
I think that's 3:27 gonna Be a Free sleeper
gonna be a bitch to chain up
In the USA, may places prohibit use of chains or even spikes. Sock are allowed but even those can be an issue getting on and off with the fairing.
Joshua79C C gonna be a fair weather truck
It's going to be AWD though.
That just means all tires will be spinning on the ice
Not sure how it will be a 6 wheel drive when only the four sets or rear wheels will be powered, same as how a typical semi truck is also 6x4 through a differential shaft.Unless its got spikes or a chain it is not going to operate well on ice, then again its a torque vectoring system so I would be lightly surprised if it manages somewhat on ice.
If they put a bank of batteries in the floor of the Trailer these things would run forever.....
getl0st then they wouldn't be able to haul anything because they'd weigh so much on their own
If you think about it, a driver must take a 30 minute break every 4 hours, the truck can add up to 400 miles of range in that time. That makes the range of this truck amost infinite as long as the driver takes all his legal breaks
@@jockwood2398 drivers usually take breaks on the side of the road where there are no charging stations
Is there a bunk??
It must have 700-800kWh if not more. Where does the battery go?
Cloxxki Under the cab like all others.
1 Megawatts and it goes the length of the tractor.
This Truck would do good on track I could see it challenging a Dodge Challenger
Damn those blue power lines by the motors are insanely thick!
UOTCbassist I think those are coolant lines. The three way splitter looks like a fluid splitter instead of an electric splitter.
It's the orange lines that are power lines. The blue are coolant lines.
Is this one like McLaren F1 drive's position? I mean... in the middle position??
yeah it's a good thing, makes the driver be able to see both blind spots equally effectively
