Is no one gonna talk about how the environment as a whole is completely inaccurate to the game? The interior of the wood blocks is way too different to be convincible, the landscape is different, the literal rock arc at 4:15 is unlike anything ive seen ingame, and a dishonorable mention is the double bucket that jason makes in the trailer like how dumb do you have to be? This isn’t Minecraft. Theres almost no resemblance or respect.
Honestly would have rathered the film start with the Master Builders (of which Steve is viewed as the worst of) being sort of killed by the ender dragon and turned into Endermen and have Steve be the only survivor and give him some Survivors guilt, then let the film be about Steve going on this crazy Arduous adventure to kill the ender dragon, have him go to the Nether to collect blaze powder, have him be forced to hunt down endermen who are people he used to know who maybe looked down on him. Have the film recreate the feeling of playing on Hardcore Mode by yourself, And in the end have Steve fight the ender dragon and win freeing everyone and proving himself in the end. I made this up in my head in 15 minutes and it would probably be more interesting than what we are getting.
Tbh it is just one of the theories about the turning into endermen. This was actually disproven in Minecraft’s lore with the release of Minecraft dungeons
i love that some random comment from some guy has a better minecraft movie plotline than the actual paid professionals who supposedly write stories for a living
I feel like I should mention that, if I'm not mistaken, Jack Black was already narrating a few minecraft books and guides in the past, so he had been steve before, as the VA. YUP - Minecraft: The Island's (narrated by Jack Black)
They just suck nowadays. Started to hate them so much since they've started doing that Tax Write-off Crap. Would love to watch that Movie even though some Things could be better, but I don't want to support those A-Holes. If I remember correctly they've also Copyright claimed when someone uploaded the Popeye Movie which they've made a Tax Write-off, meaning they aren't even allowed to make any Money from it. How does that make Sense? It's not just about Greed but they also seem to desperately want to be the bad Guys
I think they were going to have Jack be the AGED Steve, like he's a real person that's been in here playing since the game released. Then we get a very tired, "Steve, while Minecraft world is great, you have to go back and join the real world!" storyline near the end. Then it flashes to Jack in the real world, bloated and covered in dorito crumbs at his pc, then it ends with him making a call to Kyle Gass wanting to get the band back together
You know what could have worked, make the movie CG animated. Between World Builder and Blockbench this is more than possible for low cost. All you need is some nice shaders, rigging and cute animations to make this work. They could get some serious modders to make custom monsters to spice the movie further for original stories if they so wished. I could see a narrative where Steve in CG starts in a journey to aid stray crafters and villagers against Pillagers and Endermen. This leading to the discovery of the Ender Dragon and slaying it using what he learns from this. You can even have him with Alex, a pet dog and Fairy along the way. Maybe as a joke have him confused by a lot of the rules and dying many times to get it right. Or if they were gonna go the live action route, they could rent a studio and actually get some real blocks to build the set. Seriously, they could get a whole mess of cardboard boxes with Minecraft textures to make them actual interactive props for the characters such as Steve in his house (could be made of literal regular drywall with printed textures for Pete's sake) and have him explain some of the rules of Minecraft. You could add jokes wheres he says "Check out my fort. It's perfectly zombie proof." Then a torch dies out and Steve panics to put it back on. Or even have one where he's hiding, only for a creeper to sneak up behind him. For a story, they could have a narrative where Steve techncially is lost despite his apparent knowledge of the world, a man whose beaten the game over and over, but he's noticing smaller changes. Imagine him saying something like "I don't know why, but I feel like I've been here for...a very long time. Like I've seen all kinds of things come and go but never seen anyone else like you before. People...who make me feel...like there's still room for more." It could be a story of isolation, but also what value one finds in it, the value of others' input, such as trying new things and possibilities. This could lead to new Minecraft creations for the movie (and by extension, the game if they are cool enough.) For example, imagine if Steve creates a translator that allows him to understand Ender Men, allowing us to see them interact and even learn lore. Or even have Steve create a propeller plane and crash it during a battle with a Ghast. The movie could even serve as a "sequel" to Minecraft's story, where after slaying the Ender Dragon, Steve ends up here, his mind reset, however these new live action characters are in actuality, Steve's first "sentient" creations. Steve has become an Ascended Being, but his presence makes him a target for other forces in the world of Minecraft, such as Herobrine, the Aether (yes I know it's fake but it could be a worthy hype addition to Minecraft) and even Wardens, who for some reason are now increasingly spawning on the surface as a result of defeating the Ender Dragon. New monsters that incite more fear than the Wardens perhaps? What do you guys think?
I don’t really like the scenery like it just feels way to colorful. Why is everyone saying the backgrounds look so good? It looks nothing like the game besides the fact that it is blocky!
7:46 If Piglins are the main antagonists and aren't portrayed how Captain Sparkle's Fallen Kingdom Minecraft animations portrays them (Which is probably unlikely) than it's a total waste in my opinion
I wouldn't mind the isekai framing that much if it didn't look just so generic, I really hope there's some twist we're not expecting like Jack Black being Herobrine and the trailer is a red herring I like a lot of the actors (Jack Black, Momoa and Emma) but it's difficult to excited for their casting when it looks completely out of place. So many baffling decisions throughout, I think the best description I read is that this movie looks like it was not made by people who like Minecraft but by people whose kids like Minecraft
it'd be cool if steve was like this lone wolf character, and then steve explores the world and finds different established villages or even towns with other 'players' like redstoners or speedrunners in the form of brilliant scientists or engineers as the redstoners, and fierce wildcard explorers with unique tricks as the speedrunners id imagine if when warner bros really picked up the idea, if they just played the game for a good month at the least, came back with a bunch of different ideas after playing, they could cook up something better, and i also think they'd be more familiar with the more hidden details if they had looked into the wiki and popular minecraft youtubers. if i were to pick youtubers to watch, spesifically id choose redstoners, and this might seem a little dumb, but speedrunners, as the skills and knowledge they have could make for a VERY good character if done right, think petra or jack from minecraft storymode with double the cards to play, since minecraft has a lot of underlying technicalities. and the design couldve looked more like minecraft with shaders if they REALLY wanted a live action, i also think the reasoning for that is cause its easier to hide the greenscreen errors with more detailed models
It doesn't help that the director said him self on MC Live "We wanted live action because we wanted something new and market it for kids" not even kids like the movie. And not to mention Minecraft has been played by people who are now 20 or even have gray hair now.
Every Minecraft fan should be pissed they made such low effort garbage for such an iconic multigenerational game like Minecraft. Microsoft should have called TellTale to make it, they basically already have made several Minecraft movies at this point and they nailed the animation style.
What disappointed me the most is that the world clearly isn’t following the same rules as vanilla Minecraft. The scaling is completely off, items/blocks that don’t exist exist, and nothing you see in the Minecraft movie could ever be built in Minecraft. Warner made the Lego movie, which is a perfect showcase on what to do when making a movie like this. How have they failed it so badly?!
Something that would be interesting for a Minecraft movie would to be like Lego where they make a regular movie but in Minecraft, would that movie require being a Minecraft movie (in this example) no it doesn’t, they wouldn’t treat Minecraft like it is really important to the plot but more like an art media or something, take a look at any of the Lego movies that aren’t actually about the Lego such a the upcoming Pice by Pice Doing something like this would be really fun as it wouldn’t have to be a video game movie, just a movie made in Minecraft
2:51 I feel bad for the VFX studio behind the first movie and the 2019 Lion Kind Movie because the redesign cost $5 million and the whole company had to shut down but maybe it's a good thing that company didn't do any work on the future movies cuz the 2nd and 3rd Sonic movies look way better.
The Creeper only showed up once or twice in the trailer, and it wasn't even the main focus of the shot (instead it was Jason Momoa). If that doesn't scream "red flag" I don't know what does. The Creeper is LITERALLY Minecraft's mascot!
After watching the movie's insight from Minecraft Live, I understand their approach on why they went for a live action, but in reality, it's still underwhelming, but I do like that the trees, blocks, and structures are actually a prop, built by artists who put their great effort into making it which I respect. Still, I have such low expectation for this movie to be a banger like Sonic so I'm waiting for a new trailer of the movie.
Hollywood really needs a crash like the video game crash of the 80s. The sheer amount of content for the sake of content, the constant loss of money after huge investments, the lack of faith from the consumerbase. All the elements are there. We need quality films, not more content, and the studios wont realize that until they lose enough money.
You know, it's really strange, right after the Minecraft movie blew up on the internet, I started getting recommendations for "Minecraftian" and although I've played Minecraft since 2011, I have never watched it so it's bizarre not only seeing RUclips recommend me it but also you mention it in this video recommending me the same video. I was already going to watch it but wow.
The animation and live action idea isn't the only problem. The whole entire plot of the movie is basically just gonna be another jemanji. I don't want hyper realistic humans traveling into a world with blocky animals or stuff, I want a movie like Minecraft story mode where they're actual Minecraft characters, not just another damn Jumanji
It's gonna suck no doubt but the movies probably gonna break even or hell, be a box office hit simply cause it's Minecraft (I don't think the cast can carry it as we saw the Borderlands movie failed spectacularly)
They could have ignored what minecraft has given us over the years, and done a fuckin sci fi minecraft movie for fucks sake. The whole point of minecraft is to create whatever you want, and they created a pile of shit
2:44 pretty much my thoughts on the whole "sonic treatment" thing people keep saying. It'd be cool and all, but given the scale of the movie and how much cgi is going into this, it would be a production nightmare to try and rework this whole movie just so it can be slightly more visually appealing.
And that’s strange because the community is made up off a bunch of guys and girls 30+ like the Hermit craft people. Meanwhile… it’ll be for 7 year olds
10:20 I believe you mean that I WOULD have to pay to see if I were going to see it, which I am definitely not paying one penny even to hate watch that 😂
I also feel like I've been physically attacked as well I just noticed that when they're walking in that one part there's no shadow there's no goddamn shadow
6:27 this could actually be false as this exact scenario is what happens at the start of Minecraft legends, except just with the player character, so it could be a continuation of legends or something?

um what
yeaaahh that was sick

Is no one gonna talk about how the environment as a whole is completely inaccurate to the game? The interior of the wood blocks is way too different to be convincible, the landscape is different, the literal rock arc at 4:15 is unlike anything ive seen ingame, and a dishonorable mention is the double bucket that jason makes in the trailer like how dumb do you have to be? This isn’t Minecraft. Theres almost no resemblance or respect.
Honestly most of the backgrounds look AI generated :(
This movie is gonna be utter dogshit
Blocks are inconsistently sized
Idc how bad the movie budget is, I would watch this movie
Inventing lore and changing up how mobs work to create a story is exactly the bad thing to do when you make movie adaptations.

I feel like I should mention that, if I'm not mistaken, Jack Black was already narrating a few minecraft books and guides in the past, so he had been steve before, as the VA.
YUP - Minecraft: The Island's (narrated by Jack Black)
We're in the dark ages again
Except the dark ages produced soke of the most magnificent art the world had ever seen . This is worse lol
In my opinion I think the movie should be a lot more like the books, for example Minecraft: The island, and the then they can go off from there
First chris pratt having nomral voice for Mario and now Jack black in a blue shirt?!?
We all know nobody would've watch an hour and a half of mama mia with a thick-ass Italian accent.

This movie just looks crap. I feel like they could just postpone it and just redo it somethings but will Warner bros li- NO. they never do.
remember that Warner BROS cancelled Batman Beyond not Minecraft
And coyote vs acme.
I will never forgive them for that.
Probably would have been trash anyway so oh well
I think they were going to have Jack be the AGED Steve, like he's a real person that's been in here playing since the game released.
Ayo this channel is underrated asf, I love how you communicate and the videos you make. Please upload more
well the good news is we still get another shot because netflix announced that they will be making a fully animated minecraft tv show recently
Bro why not animate the movie and use all the actors as voice actors much better possibilities for great movie.
Yeah they should have copied shrek
What do you guys think?
why not just make it fully animated dude come on

I don’t really like the scenery like it just feels way to colorful. Why is everyone saying the backgrounds look so good? It looks nothing like the game besides the fact that it is blocky!
Why isn't this animated is my first question?
exactly
7:46 If Piglins are the main antagonists and aren't portrayed how Captain Sparkle's Fallen Kingdom Minecraft animations portrays them (Which is probably unlikely) than it's a total waste in my opinion
“This is gonna be turbo ass” -Penguinz0
I wouldn't mind the isekai framing that much if it didn't look just so generic, I really hope there's some twist we're not expecting like Jack Black being Herobrine and the trailer is a red herring
I like a lot of the actors (Jack Black, Momoa and Emma) but it's difficult to excited for their casting when it looks completely out of place. So many baffling decisions throughout, I think the best description I read is that this movie looks like it was not made by people who like Minecraft but by people whose kids like Minecraft
The road with video game movies was getting too good there had to be a flop somewhere
Borderland already did that
On the bright side, at least we have Sonic 3, FNAF 2, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 coming up
it'd be cool if steve was like this lone wolf character, and then steve explores the world and finds different established villages or even towns with other 'players' like redstoners or speedrunners in the form of brilliant scientists or engineers as the redstoners, and fierce wildcard explorers with unique tricks as the speedrunners
id imagine if when warner bros really picked up the idea, if they just played the game for a good month at the least, came back with a bunch of different ideas after playing, they could cook up something better, and i also think they'd be more familiar with the more hidden details if they had looked into the wiki and popular minecraft youtubers. if i were to pick youtubers to watch, spesifically id choose redstoners, and this might seem a little dumb, but speedrunners, as the skills and knowledge they have could make for a VERY good character if done right, think petra or jack from minecraft storymode with double the cards to play, since minecraft has a lot of underlying technicalities.
and the design couldve looked more like minecraft with shaders if they REALLY wanted a live action, i also think the reasoning for that is cause its easier to hide the greenscreen errors with more detailed models
It doesn't help that the director said him self on MC Live "We wanted live action because we wanted something new and market it for kids" not even kids like the movie. And not to mention Minecraft has been played by people who are now 20 or even have gray hair now.
Imagine if they pulled a sonic.
And Steve is actually a CGI character in the film 😱
Every Minecraft fan should be pissed they made such low effort garbage for such an iconic multigenerational game like Minecraft. Microsoft should have called TellTale to make it, they basically already have made several Minecraft movies at this point and they nailed the animation style.
This Would be better animated

There’s a stupid reason why it’s live action and it’s cuz “everybody is doing animation so we want to be special and make it live action” 😒

Something that would be interesting for a Minecraft movie would to be like Lego where they make a regular movie but in Minecraft, would that movie require being a Minecraft movie (in this example) no it doesn’t, they wouldn’t treat Minecraft like it is really important to the plot but more like an art media or something, take a look at any of the Lego movies that aren’t actually about the Lego such a the upcoming Pice by Pice
Doing something like this would be really fun as it wouldn’t have to be a video game movie, just a movie made in Minecraft
5:16 they realy looked at steve and thought "yeah thats jack black"
Hollywood really needs a crash like the video game crash of the 80s. The sheer amount of content for the sake of content, the constant loss of money after huge investments, the lack of faith from the consumerbase. All the elements are there. We need quality films, not more content, and the studios wont realize that until they lose enough money.
2:34 *this sounds like a joke to me, because i don't see the green screen border*
it’s probably more obvious to people that have some editing experience, I only noticed it after it was pointed out to me
Is this the future of Minecraft? Shhit go back, GO BACK!!

9:06 oh how I miss Minecraft story mode 😭
What comforts me is that Jack Black is gonna have fun chewing the scenery. If jack black is having fun I probs will too.
0:10 When the guy who made This Attraction is Great HATES your works somethings WRONG

The movie should have been fully animated like Mario. Change my mind --->
2:44 pretty much my thoughts on the whole "sonic treatment" thing people keep saying. It'd be cool and all, but given the scale of the movie and how much cgi is going into this, it would be a production nightmare to try and rework this whole movie just so it can be slightly more visually appealing.
Of course it's going to be terrible, it's meant to appeal to the ''skibidi'' generation.
And that’s strange because the community is made up off a bunch of guys and girls 30+ like the Hermit craft people. Meanwhile… it’ll be for 7 year olds
