The coil colours in my kit were not as any video I'd seen but Google came up with the Chinese characters for the colours so it was a simple matter of matching things up. The radio worked first time which I liked. My only tip would be to link out the 'test breaks' in the tracking immediately. Easier to do before fitting the components I found. Air band next for me 😊

Yes definitely, two stage IF radio. Setup the 455 or 465 khz if with the yellow white black cans. The red can is the oscillator, he seemed to be twinkelating in the dark towards the end.
@@andrewagner2035 You got the colors exactly right. Further, the red slug is for the low end osc and the trimmer cap is for the upper end. The other trimmer cap is upper end RF and the bar antenna if used is low end RF. I think most of us could do this in our sleep, like setting up a color CRT which will never happen again.
I had repaired many of these sets 50 years ago..during my early 20s..he has to be careful about the placement of the 4 coils..the white color is the oscillator coil for MW..red is first IF coil..yellow is 2nd and black 3rd IF coil followed by detector diode..then preamp followed by driver than audio output and finally the speaker..I can still remember them after such a long time..50 years..plenty of these sets in Malaysia then..

Baught several and gave as gifts. Always calming to work in a corner of the shack. Solar/ inverter power. Doing the honours. Some cookies/ milk. After it's done I power it up and it needs tuning.then it sets on the table for too short of a time when I hand it to a neighbor child. I learn the whole process of tuning in an institute. A signal is introduced in the input by placing a screwdriver on it. Then tune the IFTs one by one till you get maximum sound from the speaker. Tuning should be carried out in proper sequence, i.e from left to right and right to left.

If no plastic tool to tune IF trans, can use a file to file a used tooth brush handle into a screw driver shape.
