      🫠Regarding your question: It will not cause any issues whatsoever. However, if you want, you can remove the cover and pull the screw hard to break the C-lock on the other side. The screw typically holds the cover in place; its main purpose is to secure the corner of the cover, and it serves no other significant function.

    I have a question: Is it required to pull off that battery connection thingy before applying the ram? a few tech channels in my country encouraged to do so, as they explained it as “very risky and might cause malfunction if you let the battery connected”.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Год назад +6

      i already answered this question to others i just paste the answer i gave them so you can read:
      I want to assure you that it's highly unlikely that removing the RAM would have caused a motherboard short, unless the laptop wasn't completely powered down or was in standby or suspended mode. With my extensive 17 years of experience in laptop repairs and electronics, along with a degree in the field, I can confidently state that there's no need to disconnect the battery when upgrading or removing RAM. Technicians who suggest that might have less experience or unfounded concerns.
      Understanding motherboard schematics, it's clear that when the laptop loses power, there's NO risk to when working on the RAM. I can even create a video demonstrating this by trying to create a short while the battery is connected - it's practically impossible.
      Take, for instance, laptops like the one I mentioned, where you don't need to disconnect the battery to upgrade the RAM or HDD. Some laptops with integrated batteries provide easy access to these components without accessing the battery itself. Manufacturers acknowledge that disconnecting the battery isn't necessary for these upgrades.
      For instance, the laptop model linked here is just one example of many that support this approach.
      ruclips.net/video/iU-oEyBmcFA/видео.html
      While these models are becoming rarer, they highlight the principle that laptops can be upgraded without disconnecting the battery, despite modern designs making it harder for users to perform upgrades, because manufactures need to make money by giving upgrade services.
      Additionally, I advise against disconnecting the battery because it maintains the CMOS configuration (bios). Detaching the battery would reset any configurations you've made, potentially leading to post-boot issues.
      I hope I've been able to explain my standpoint clearly. Cheers! 🍻

    excellent video. I always recommend testing the ram before reseating the bottom cover. It's tricky, because the battery must be held to flip the notebook computer over, but always a wise idea, before snapping / screwing back in the cover IMO - but I realize you are just illustrating the procedure itself :) Thank You.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Месяц назад +1

      It's my pleasure my friend.
      I appreciate your support. I always recommend that people secure the cover with one screw, or none at all, and then flip the laptop on its side to power it on for testing before screwing everything back on. This is what I do daily-I avoid placing the cover until after testing. However, to minimize risk for viewers, I suggest placing the cover first, testing, and then securing it fully.
      **TIP:** With newer models, the cover must be in place for the laptop to boot. Many now have security measures that detect if the cover is not installed, preventing the device from booting. One of these is a tiny push-down switch, while another involves a light sensor. So, with newer laptops, you’ll need to have the cover in place (not necessarily screwed) for testing.
      cheers🍻

If you place the new RAM, power it on, and after 30 seconds it doesn’t boot, you’ll need to power off, switch the RAM spots, and try again. Sometimes it can take up to 60 seconds for the motherboard to complete a memory check.

I have a few questions can I remove the ram I have in now to a 16G and get two of them to make it total of 32GB of ram and another question I’m pretty sure my Asus TUF FX506HC gray eclipse model has an extra slot for SSD? I’m pretty sure it does right now I have a 512GB HDD. Can I add in the extra Nvme SSD slot a 2TB or even 4TB Nvme SSD?
    Just bought the gaming laptop and should have purchased the full 32GB now I gotta do it myself kind of nerve wrecking though as it’s my first time I will be getting the same kit, don’t know why I only got the 8GB ram - 512GB HDD it would of cost me just $200 more to just buy w/ all the bells and whistles, but you’re video was really detailed and very informative thank you!

      one remove the old ram and only boot with the new ram, if the blue screen still shows then it is a defective ram.
      if not then your ram is not compatible with you old ram.

      Regarding your question, the standard shipment includes one stick of 8GB RAM. However, some models are shipped with 16GB (2x8GB). Any model that has two RAM sticks is dual-channel, while a single stick is single-channel. Dual-channel can accommodate a mix of RAM sizes, such as 4GB and 8GB, or 16GB and 8GB.
