I finally had the opportunity of enjoying this latest fantastic installment of Azerothian lore tonight. I am at a particular loss of words from 29:59 onwards...this portion, partially due to its (presumably-intentional) climactic positioning within this episode's script, manifested merely too unquantifiable a volume of blissful nostalgia for my yearning mind to properly rationalize. As one of innumerable others around the world who first explored Azeroth as a Human adventurer back in 2004, and whose first notable victory in battle was over the infamous King Hogger, I extend my most geniune of thanks to you, Loremaster, for this particular installment of the Chronicles of Azeroth. Thank you!!

I unfortunately won't be able to watch it tonight, but very much look forward to doing so within the next night or two. Thank you so much for the high praise and welcome to the channel! It's fantastic to have you here, and I can't wait for you to explore the rest of the content. Enjoy the journey through Azeroth's history!
Thank the algorithm that i found a gem of a channel. Always love the lore of Azeroth, and it's told beautifully by a great narrator. You got a new subscriber.
Thrilled you found the channel and that you're enjoying the lore! The narration, made possible with the help of AI, aims to bring the stories of Azeroth to life. Welcome to the journey!
The origins of the gnolls is indeed mysterious. They could be corrupted titan creations, but I don’t remember any stone/metal gnolls at Ulduar or any other titan facility. They could be descended from a wild god from the Emerald Dream, but I’ve never seen a wild god (which includes the Loa the trolls worship and the August Cellestials in Pandaria) that could be the origin of the gnolls. Anyone else have any idea?
Very interesting theories! The fact that their ancestry is shrouded in mystery seems to hint at a history that's more complex than we might be able to put our fingers on.
friggine took the words right out of my mouth. Between His voice and his script, I swear this was a National geographic vid. I mean it between the script and the voice, i'm actually waiting to learn about Gnolls. And the way he described their retreat adn counter attack tactics took them from being annoying to down right scary, because that is exactly what they do. Its the Han Solo moment you go charging after them only for a pack of 4 turn to help the 2 you were chasing and you from roaring to screaming as you run away.
@@TheChroniclesofAzerothnow I doubt that this will ever come to pass but IF we get playable Gnolls and other minor races Blizzard (if they get their act together) could go crazy with origin stories
An awesome video idea would be the lore of Ulduar! It’s the cradle of dwarves, Vrykul, and in an indirect way humanity. What has happened since the fall of the Lich King?
Nice 👌 Edit: I just realized your videos are the only ones I watch that take up my whole landscape mode even around my camera. That's more than nice. It's awesome.
Thrilled to hear you're enjoying the ultra- wide format! My goal is to create that extra immersive experience, making you feel like you're right there in the midst of Azeroth's vast landscapes and epic tales! Cheers!
I absolutely loved the video. I knew about most of these tribes but I have to admit I didn't know about The Mudsnout or the Woodpaw. So that was very surprising and enjoyable! Keep up the great work that you're doing! I also loved that you included "Hogger was the first real challenge for many young adventurers." I remember his infamy in classic WoW. Ahh, the old days. Now I feel old...
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm delighted to bring even the most seasoned adventurers new tidbits of lore. And indeed, Hogger has a special place in our aged but all the wiser hearts. Here's to the old days and to feeling young in the vast world of Azeroth! Cheers!
Love your videos! Brilliant writing, it always feels relaxing to listen. Would it be possible to have the narrator voice pause a bit longer between sentences? Think it would accentuate the words even more and give a bit more weight and breath to the listening experience. Keep up the good work and all the best for you and your channel ! :)
Super, thank you for the feedback! This helps me a lot with the way I present the episodes and how I could improve as time goes on. I will take the longer breathing pauses into consideration for our next adventure!
Glad you enjoyed it, and the episodes lend themselves perfectly as audiobooks! Perfect to rewind after a hard day's work and for a deep dive into lore on the go!
Glad you like them! After exploring the Murlocs and Furbolgs of Azeroth, the moment had come to journey into the legend of the Gnolls! See you in the next adventure!
Like how theyre adding more about them over time. And how they also added young ones. Whats interesting is them also making a few of them more "friendly". ( know they already had at least one friendly gnoll that is Sayge) Another interesting thing is Blizz having added more real hyena-like sounds to them in DragonFlight. (and also having some keep/traing hyenas as pets)
Yes, it's good to see that the gnolls have not become an overlooked/underdeveloped race within Azeroth! Sayge was originally planned to be featured in the video, but as it was getting quite lengthy as is, his tale will have to wait for another time. I also contemplated of using the new Dragonflight gnoll soundtrack, but eventually settled with more recognizable and fitting music from each of the zones discussed :)
I love the fact you talk about lore of even the side characters in our ever growing story. I have 2 questions are wolvar the ancestors of Gnolls or different and why no talk on the latest group in dragonflight their pressure seems to have a growing background story that has just been overlooked as of now
It seems there's no connection between the Wolvar of Northrend and the Gnolls of Azeroth. The two races do share similar physical and behavioural traits but as is often the case with wild animals, reflects their intolerance to other species and prime savagery. About the Dragonflight tribe, our exploration through the world of Azeroth is mainly focussed on the earlier expansions, with occasional exceptions for lore episodes like this where we venture to the shores of Cataclysm and Pandaria.
@TheChroniclesofAzeroth I really appreciate that you took the time too look up the information and get back anyone else who had the sane questions. Thank you very much for being an amazing person
The focus of this video was on the gnoll tribes from the earlier expansions. The gnolls of the Dragon Isles certainly have their own unique tales, which I look forward to delving into as we expand our journey into newer territories of lore in future content.
These followers of Lord Hogger have haunted my nightmares since I was first tasked with killing one particular Gnoll in Elwynn Forest on my first Human alt.
The tales of Lord Hogger continue to inspire fear and awe in the hearts of adventurers. Tell me, does the sight of a gnoll still chill your bones to this day?
To be transparent; the narration is indeed done with the help of AI. The goal is not to replace human input, but to have a consistent and knowledgable tone to enhance the production value and create a sense of immersion that I cannot add to the table myself :)
It's a lot of trial and error to get the tone and pronunciation just right, much like how I would tell the story and convey the meaning of the Lore! I use ElevenLabs to create the voice, you should check it out if you're interested :)
For this video, as with much of the channel's adventures, we've primarily focused on the earlier expansions of the game. However, venturing into the lore of later expansions, including Dragonflight, is definitely on the horizon!
I'm a little confused about the comment regarding their height. In game they seem to be shorter than orcs, not taller. I tried looking into it. Wowhead says they average around 5'. However the noncanon rpg books listed them as around 7'. The gnome+orc height seems to be closest to the noncanon rpg books, but even then your description sounds like it would be over 8 feet tall, which they don't usually appear to be. Aside from that part confusing me, the style, voice, and editing of this video are quite incredible and I thank you for putting it all together!
Thank you for the feedback and your thorough investigation into the subject! Beyond the specifics, using height measurements in such a manner was meant to draw the audience's attention to the idea that the elements within our adventures in Azeroth don't always adhere to conventional logic. This approach adds a unique and lighthearted touch to the world we've created, making the process of developing these details quite enjoyable in its own right!
Wonderful storytelling. Thanks a lot for this. While I recognized nearly every Gnoll tribe (I just finished leveling up again to 60), I can't for the life of me tell where Redpine is. Isn't possible that it is in the Dwarven lands (starting area) ? If so, that would explain why I don't know about them. The same could be said for alliance players not knowing about the Gnolls of Mulgore I guess.
Great observation about the Redpine tribe; they were introduced during the Cataclysm. Our journeys through Azeroth are often limited to the early days, but to give a comprehensive view of all tribes-including those not present in the classic era-I choose to explore them all. Much like the Blackmane Mercenaries Gnolls of Pandaria :) Hope that clears some things up!
I've always enjoyed Gnolls ever since wc3 where they have a collection of fairly adorable animations from having a fast run of sorts interspersed with a skip/gallop to using their strong jaws to take bolts from their quiver for their crossbows, they had so much personality for nothing more than a basic creep :)
The gnolls' unique charm in WC3 and later in the World of Warcraft, truly brought them to life. It's those little details that give such depth to the creatures of Azeroth!
there is a footnote on how the goblins were similar intellect to gnolls before they found kajamite, and the properties of this ore gave the goblins a boost in intellect and sentience to how they are now, if the gnolls could interact with kajamite, imagine the possibilities.
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth I've always been a big Sethrak fan, but really there are so many cool races I'd love to see playable... yea put Gnolls and Sethrak at top of my list
I kinda always wanted to see a coalition of gnolls, harpies, razormanes, satyrs, and murlocks forming their own group to defend themselves against the alliance and the horde.
Though it does make for an intriguing fantasy scenario, one can't help but wonder if their limited intelligence might lead to some, shall we say, "creative differences" down the line. Picture the coalition meetings: Harpies screeching, gnolls bickering over bones, and murlocs... well, doing whatever murlocs do. It's like the start of a joke: 'A harpy, a gnoll, and a murloc walk into a tavern...
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth playable: sporregar mushroom people. For lore: the stone golems in hellfire or across Outland. The trolls in gundrak. Goblin cartels in tanaris?(may already be mapped out?) The avian bird people in terrokar forest. Aroka?
kinda a shame that the whole Dragonflight Gnoll Lore with the Rot, Monarch, the Rot Chieftain Schamaness who still voes revenge and some gnolls attempting to settle in the new Nightelven Settlement which implies more Alliance and Horde friendly gnolls got completely left out! It is the most current Gnoll Lore out there...
Currently, our adventures primarily explore the lore from the earlier expansions, but the rich narratives introduced in Dragonflight, including the intriguing developments with the gnolls, will find their spotlight on our journey through Azeroth's history at some point!
I use ElevenLabs for the voiceover narration. It's been a great tool for creating a clear and engaging narration that complements the content of the videos.
Ok but can we see how amazing could had it been the things of chapter 7 (axis of evil) could been? imagine how silly would it be, to see a dungeon or "city" full of the regular mobs there, having a primitive society even

My apologies for the late reply. To be compared to a National Geographic documentary is quite the honour. Thank you, and may you find the lore as engaging as the beavers of the North!
Our current travels through Azeroth are focused on the earlier expansions, but rest assured; these tribes will have their own tales unfold in due time. :)
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth I see. Yeah-- I am probably one of the only people who actually cares about the Gnolls enough that when the game first launched I decided I would only ever play the Alliance side if they got Gnolls as a racial option-- and while I used to be able to hack the game to make my human Alliance character appear as a Gnoll to me and I was satisfied with that-- I think such hacks no longer work. The allied races so far have been garbage and mostly composed of different colored elves. From Warcraft Vanilla, it was always obvious that Goblins, Ogres and Gnolls ought to have been player races. They were the two races we always so in mixed race NPC factions.
I completely see your point. The diverse tribes of Ogres, Gnolls, and Goblins across the continents have fascinating alliances with both the Horde and Alliance, making them prime candidates for playable races.
Delving deep into the culture, habits, and tribes is essential for understanding the intricate world they inhabit. The content is a blend of source material and interpretive storytelling, aimed at fleshing out the rich lore of Azeroth :)
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth greetings and respect, I didn't play video games since December 2006. In 2013 I played 3 months SWTOR, December 2016 I started playing wow for free. My best friend told me, I come here for my rest. So that is what I use wow free to play for, to relax. So if I need some relaxation, I go to Dolanaar just to hang out there.
Blizzard and ANET alike seem to suffer from pitching an idea, drawing an idea and establishing lore for an idea being super cool and desirable, and then the execution falling far off and looking mediocre, weak, or washed down. Gnolls, ogres and Kalimdor Centaur are all badass but we'll never get to play nor establish them further than a comparative 'beast tribe' from Final Fantasy (which you play as some of them in the tactics games, making them seem far cooler still).
The gap between concept and execution can indeed be wide, leaving many creatures like Gnolls and Ogres and even Murlocs in the realm of 'what could have been.'
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth I'm guessing you might not know what the Mongrel Horde is? You might want to give it a quick look up, it's an abandoned concept that was replaced with the Iron Horde about how the various displaced races such as Gnolls, Kobolds, Troggs, and Centaur led by Garrosh into fighting the Horde and Alliance. I really like this idea, but I feel they didn't need Garrosh to unite because I think they would out of shared hatred for the Horde and Alliance.
The gnolls certainly have a complex story behind their aggressive exterior. I'm glad the video could bring out a different side of them for you. Are there any other races in Azeroth you wish to learn more about?
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth It would be a nice opposite of the Horde and Alliance Races. They could even introduce some classes similar to what we have but matched for them.
Hey, the narration is indeed made possible through AI tools. The script it written by myself, and later enhanced (finalised it a certain style/tone, checked for errors/duplicates) by other AI software.

It's a lot of trial and error to get the tone and pronunciation just right, much like how I would tell the story and convey the meaning of the Lore! I use ElevenLabs to create the voice, you should check it out if you're interested :)
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth thanks friend. look forward to your next upload
No Dragon Isles Gnolls?
Much like the murlocs, gnolls are arguably my most hated/loved npcs in WoW.
Can't live with or without them!
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth It does. Thank you very much.
Another banger
I've always enjoyed Gnolls ever since wc3 where they have a collection of fairly adorable animations from having a fast run of sorts interspersed with a skip/gallop to using their strong jaws to take bolts from their quiver for their crossbows, they had so much personality for nothing more than a basic creep :)
The gnolls' unique charm in WC3 and later in the World of Warcraft, truly brought them to life. It's those little details that give such depth to the creatures of Azeroth!
Yooo this is fire.
Happy to hear it! Enjoy!
Ferals and dire maul please!
Duly noted! Thanks!
there is a footnote on how the goblins were similar intellect to gnolls before they found kajamite, and the properties of this ore gave the goblins a boost in intellect and sentience to how they are now, if the gnolls could interact with kajamite, imagine the possibilities.
Fascinating thought! It's interesting to consider how it could have transformed their society, and what force they might have become today.
great production, the only thing i love more than gnolls are troggs
Troggs will get their own lore episode sooner or later!
We need, like, a wandering Gnoll monk.
An *elite* wandering Gnoll monk!
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth /salute
Anyone know what ai voice this is?
It's a custom voice made in ElevenLabs, a tool for lifelike AI narration :)
YAAAAAAASSSSSSS
Happy to see you again! Finally a day off or still long shifts at work?
Make them a playable race! More races with more access to classes!
Agreed!
I love Gnolls. I want them playable!
You and me both! Are there other races you would like to see playable?
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth I've always been a big Sethrak fan, but really there are so many cool races I'd love to see playable... yea put Gnolls and Sethrak at top of my list
Done and done!
Glad I found your channel i loved Warcraft since a kid, the movie killed that abit though 😂
Feel welcome, fellow wanderer! It's time they made a movie about Arthas and his transition into the Lich King!
Thank youuuu🎉
You're very welcome! Any other Races you would like to see in the future?
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth playable: sporregar mushroom people.
For lore: the stone golems in hellfire or across Outland. The trolls in gundrak. Goblin cartels in tanaris?(may already be mapped out?)
The avian bird people in terrokar forest. Aroka?
Superb, thanks for your list of ideas! The Arakkoa of Outland should be an interesting one, no doubt!
What about dragon flight gnolls
The tales of the Gnolls of Dragonflight remain beyond our current scrolls, but who knows what the future volumes may hold?
Would love to see a Gnoll Kingdom in the future that's trying to break free from their instincts of survival
The concept of a Gnoll Kingdom is a fascinating thought. Who knows what the future holds for these furry savages?
this would also have been very nice with David Attenborough's voice.
Imagine that-the esteemed David Attenborough guiding us through the wonders of Azeroth! It’s a delightful thought.
kinda a shame that the whole Dragonflight Gnoll Lore with the Rot, Monarch, the Rot Chieftain Schamaness who still voes revenge and some gnolls attempting to settle in the new Nightelven Settlement which implies more Alliance and Horde friendly gnolls got completely left out!
It is the most current Gnoll Lore out there...
Currently, our adventures primarily explore the lore from the earlier expansions, but the rich narratives introduced in Dragonflight, including the intriguing developments with the gnolls, will find their spotlight on our journey through Azeroth's history at some point!
What voiceover program do you use?
I use ElevenLabs for the voiceover narration. It's been a great tool for creating a clear and engaging narration that complements the content of the videos.
A fierce race no doubt!
Absolutely, the gnolls are a force to be reckoned with!
Because of this I love the gnolls
More bones to gnaw on! Any tribe or figure you like in particular?
😂 I'm going to say this and I will die on this hill. But gnolls need to be a playable race for the horde
Gnolls have such a unique culture and lore that they'd make an interesting addition to the Horde!
Naw, I just play a Worgen DK and stay in Worgen form
i wish we we could have playable Gnools.
They look soo good after they got a Graphic Update :
Ok but can we see how amazing could had it been the things of chapter 7 (axis of evil) could been? imagine how silly would it be, to see a dungeon or "city" full of the regular mobs there, having a primitive society even
This 100%!
I need more gnolledge on these creatures
Gnolls are well-known for their unique… let’s say, ‘aromatic’ presence in Azeroth! Follow me for more Gnoll facts!
I have reason to suspect Fedfennel, the brother of Hogger, is Sargeras' father.
Quite the theory! I'm intrigued-please, share more about how you've pieced this together.
I will have to dig into old logs of totally not conspiracy theory levels of theorycrafting! I'll be back. Expect me, like the fel energies of Fedfennel (an anagram of Fel'Nneled his EVIL name! Creator of the magic! Blasted be his name!)@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth
I play a Worgen DK that has been accepted into the Blackpaw Clan. Maybe it's time for a Worgen guild of that name....
New video!
Enjoy!
Gnoll Mon’Ark patiently waiting at the Blizzard gate so they can add him as a faction leader for the Horde 😔
Lol!
This better that documentary about Canadian beavers on National Geography.
My apologies for the late reply. To be compared to a National Geographic documentary is quite the honour. Thank you, and may you find the lore as engaging as the beavers of the North!
Damm, chatGPT is gettin real good at makin 30 min vids
The alliance rendered them Gnoll and Void!
Lol, nice one!
You missed the Brinesnout, Shadepaw, Snowhide and Brackenhide tribes.
WHY YOU NO MENTION MEATBALL?!?!
Ah, Meatball, a curious omission, to be sure. Perhaps he's off somewhere conquering other challenges!
It's cool, but a bit redundant for 30min. Is this all actual source description, or interpretation of lore? except for the gnoll war I can't tell.
Delving deep into the culture, habits, and tribes is essential for understanding the intricate world they inhabit. The content is a blend of source material and interpretive storytelling, aimed at fleshing out the rich lore of Azeroth :)
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth aight aight, nice job
I played World of Warcraft 2004/2006, we didn't call it Vanilla, we called it WoW. That's what I wanted to say about this video, simply WoW.
The nostalgia of those early days is still unmatched to this very day!
Better Then Planet earth
What a compliment, thank you! Azeroth's tales hold their own unique magic, enjoy!
Nr1000!
Wow, one thousand likes, I did not realise we were at that milestone already! Thanks!
Sad we never got the Mongrel Horde.
And no Murlocs for the Alliance! Or would they also side with the Horde...?
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth I'm guessing you might not know what the Mongrel Horde is? You might want to give it a quick look up, it's an abandoned concept that was replaced with the Iron Horde about how the various displaced races such as Gnolls, Kobolds, Troggs, and Centaur led by Garrosh into fighting the Horde and Alliance. I really like this idea, but I feel they didn't need Garrosh to unite because I think they would out of shared hatred for the Horde and Alliance.
I kinda feel bad for the gnolls now lol
The gnolls certainly have a complex story behind their aggressive exterior. I'm glad the video could bring out a different side of them for you. Are there any other races in Azeroth you wish to learn more about?
I would like a video of murlocs please!@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth
@@Astronic You're in luck, The Lore of the Murloc was the first video about the races of Azeroth I made and it is already up! Check it out!

Why dose this sound like national geographic.
Gnolls, Kobolds, Troggs, and Quilboars. Love me these guys. They could make their own faction if they weren't so stupid.
Ah, if only their cunning matched their ambition! An alliance of the lesser-known races of Azeroth could indeed be formidable!
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth It would be a nice opposite of the Horde and Alliance Races. They could even introduce some classes similar to what we have but matched for them.
Is the narrator AI or is the script AI made? It doesn't quite seem real.
Hey, the narration is indeed made possible through AI tools. The script it written by myself, and later enhanced (finalised it a certain style/tone, checked for errors/duplicates) by other AI software.
"In the mystical realms of Azeroth..."
Chat GPT got it. I'm out.
