    Suggestion on the Nutrients: Buy one for DWC (most are), but keep it simple. A and B with calmag and get a few grows under your belt then start tro experiment. Forest Farms for one has a 12 part/stage nutrient system (not sure on the 12 mark). It works a lot better, yes, but takes a lot longer to dial it in.
    PH keep in mind should be set at room or operating temp. I fill my buckets with the fresh water I am going to use and let it sit till it's 65-70 degrees or overnight (covered) with the nutrients added. Mix again, check and adjust PH to 5.7-5.9 with goal of 5.8. Swap out. Watch plant for changes and adjust if needed. We should see nice green and growth daily, if not start checking and day two start to worry a bit. I have had PH for some reason go up to 7.4 a few times randomly. Locks the plant out of food.

    This is interesting too me. On a lot of different levels. A lot of stuff I’ve heard. Some I haven’t. But what I’ve learned the most is most Growers are vague for a reason. Cuz if everyone found out than any1 would do it. I was just hoping for that deeper talk. I’m gonna follow and watch though and if we ever get the chance. I hope it’s a talk.

    In the aquarium world they have a buffer that you can buy you add it to your water at water change time and you can maintain a perfect pH for a few different pH ranges. New to growing marijuana so I’m learning about the numbers that are needed for this aspect. My question is would a buffer that maintain the proper pH is being able to be used in the system. I do this in my aquarium hobby and it makes life so much easier I don’t have to chase pH levels it’s always spot on unless I’m doing a water change. That’s only because you’re adding new water and it’s only for a second or two the buffer balances out instantly.

      RO water from Aptus is a great buffer and Aptus is on an other level with bio-mineral nutrients, GH or T.A in Europe with their Tri part is the best value for the bucks

    When I first started DWC, in around 2000, the only nutrients I could find was General Hydroponics. I've been using them ever since.
    I have "hard" water, so I'm using the 3 part Flora series, with Hard Water Micro.
    My pH fluctuates quite a bit, but my tap water starts at 7.5-8.5. Like you, I don't try to worry too much about it unless the plants start looking funny.
    Edit: subscribed, liked and shared with my group.

      Just a shot in the dark...where did you first hear/learn about DWC?

    • @robertlussier2944
      @robertlussier2944 18 дней назад

      @@Gh4cv I took a course in Aquaponics in 1998, which uses a pretty elaborate system of fish tanks and Bio filters, and runs the liquid through a series of hydroponic systems. We had NFT, Dutch pots and DWC that the fluids from the tanks ran through. I just adapted using a home made recirculating DWC and General Hydroponic nutrients.

      @@robertlussier2944 Cool, around that time I was online teaching people how I was going about DWC, I was wondering if you could have been one of those guys. At the time I said I was growing in buckets because the term DWC wasn't invented yet. It's basically a modified e&f without the e&f. I came up with the bucket idea after moving and my Emily's garden wouldn't fit in my closet. And you're right about GH, I still use them to this day lol I started using them in 95 or 96 when I switched to hydro (drippers).

Also a skateboarder here, nice to find that you are related.

    Does it not change the PH because you are adding air to the water? I'm sure I've read that pumping air into water will increase the PH. I assume that why it's best to always add solution at 5.8 but allow the system to run at 6.2? I would also assume that it's a good way to tell if you are adding enough air to the system.

  • @bmq34

    Nice video, thanks butty. But one thing about water change. Because the plants consume a lot of water u r continously adding new water. So to say u r in the continuous process of waterchanging. I did DWC and I never changed my water. But I have to sa that I did not have a reservoir so I prepared every 2-3 days new fresh watermixture. Peace.

  • @pedclarkemobile
    @pedclarkemobile Год назад

    Water change out frequency depends on how much canopy / size of room Vs size of main reservoir + total water volume of buckets & plumbing.
    Smaller tanks have bigger pH, EC and temperature swings. Need more frequent chengeouts needed.

    Damn Bro I'm in week 3 and thought about scraping the whole lot yesterday! I did my 2nd water change Monday my roots were so white. The next day I went to check the Ph drift and my roots were brown and looked like shit! My water temps were in the high 70s so i started adding the frozen water bottles and they melted in 30 seconds, so I was asking myself what the fk I was doing and said to myself let em cook stick a fork in me I'm done! Far as the crappy colored roots General Hydroponics likes to use Colored Nutes and the great white is a brown powder that clouds the water both after my water change prob. helped color my roots. I was excited to try this I have 8 plants running 2 each in a DIY 12 Gal Totes with 2 air lines each so the water is rolling.. Using SLF-100 for a cleaner and it has its work cut out for itself with my water temps. I am not going to buy a chiller my totes are not connected. If I ever try this again, I will use 4 net pots 6 inch on a 27-gallon tote with a chiller set at 68 for 4 Autos... But I am pretty sure I will throw this run in the garbage soon as it stinks. I wanted to try something new for the challenge and to try to get massive autos instead of average!! Pretty sure I will be back in Coco with dry amendments and only having to water every 3 days and top dress once. I can say one positive about my DWC they are growing fast seem a little light green but could be my lights, but in week 3 on 5th node with side branching... They are Mephisto autos and cost me $100 just for the beans so I will try to get through the next 8 weeks but no promises lmao

    Dr Bruce Bugbe says that you dont need ph lower than 6, he says that they now use more like 6,5 to every style they grow at the university. So you right in general, cuz when it rise from 5,5 - it goes to optimal zone. 5.5 is dangerous.

    • @Gh4cv
      @Gh4cv 18 дней назад

      Stay away from that guy. He's just using his status to cash in on cannabis on the backs of unsuspecting growers as he spreads misleading and bad information...then sells you products he wants you to buy. 5.5 is not dangerous, low yes but not dangerous. Either you misunderstood him and got your numbers confused (possible) or he actually said that (probably). Don't be Bugbe sucker.

    • @DusaFarms
      @DusaFarms  Год назад

      I’m working on a video for germination and seedlings as we speak, but I personally plant them straight into DWC once they sprout. Also you’ll want to add nutes right away since DWC doesn’t have the buffer like soil

    What dose it mean if ph drops in the res often

    • @DusaFarms
      @DusaFarms  Год назад +1

      It could mean that something is off in the red. Nutes could be too high and plants may only be absorbing the water while leaving nutrients behind. Try lowering your dosage. There could be some sort of pathogen/Bacteria present
