Great tips concerning changing the angle of discharge of the pump and the use of the bog pipe to allow cleaning the bog. Thanks !!

how did you size the bog and flow required through it? I've got a big natural pond (80kgal), mud bottom, and need to add intake and bog, trying to size them. Not sure how big to make intake or bog and flow.

My bog's surface area is 15% of the surface area of the pond. That's a good starting point for most ponds. I also put an upflow filter at the bottom of the pond which pushes water through about 6" of sand. That is also 15% of the pond's area.
As for flow, I am shooting for about a 20 minute transit time through the bog. Mine holds about 1,200 gallons of water, so pumping 3,000 gph gets me to the target transit time
In general, ratios can get smaller as ponds get bigger, but I don't know much about mud bottom ponds, so I don't know if or how that would affect sizing for that type of feature.
