Interesting comment about this freestyle version is a weakness of Magnus.. I really don’t think that is likely because Magnus has stolen many a game in the endgame where the opening hasn’t really mattered .. it would be one thing if Magnus showed his ability with strong openings and unrelenting pressure but it’s been just as often that Magnus loses any advantage and then plays masterfully in the endgame.. So I just think the version of the game has little to do with his slight struggle here but more just typical of his ups and downs regardless of the game
@1:46:30 naka did not blunder anything, Rxf6 was the only winning move! and it gives white a completely winning position, and it was not easy to see, not everytime you lose a game it is because of a blunder, sometimes it is because the opponent find very good or in this case, only winning moves!
As far as a serious update to chess i think u should be allowed to play illegal moves such as putting your king in check. I think u should be allowed to hang your king and the game. Capturing the king should be the goal as apposed to the assumption u will capture it next turn and calling it checkmate.
I'd love to see the change where stalemate is not a draw but a win for the guys who stalemate.
If opponent's next move is gonna be his defeat, why doesn't he lose but instead call it a draw?

hi Hikaru. interesting take on gambling on chess. i am more enthusiastic and think the mathematics and betting scenarios of chess gambling are fascinating mathematically. Amount of cash is not the issue. Developing a betting system is. No talking about winners/losers, talking about in game move betting, openings etc. cheers and great luck!!!
