Ben The Coin Geek
Old Pueblo Coin
Those initials have been on that coin for a very long time. Very cool.
At least we know the name of one owner of the coin. Link countermarks on ancient coins, you can track where it has been.
Love the Lafayette!
Nice! Not too shabby. Cheers!!!
I live vicariously through your crackout videos one day lol
I CRACKED OUT IN THE 80s.
It was the 70’s for me!
Ben, your channel has taught me more about coin grading than I learned in my whole life before i found it. I can look at a coin and actually be close on the grade. I see cleaning right off. I see all the different things that I never knew I was missing like wheel marks or artificial toning.
I love these videos!
Wow I love that 1799 coin 🥰. I love engraved coins and love to have something like that in my love token collection!!!
Fun video. Good to see your customer gather up a few upgrades and crossovers.
My favorites are the 1799 $1 and 1876 half. Thanks for sharing.
You're right, still a very nice draped bust silver dollar. Great look 👌
Great video!
Thanks, Ben!
The reverse of the Illinois / Lincoln coin is the image on the flag of the State of Illinois.
Alabama and Illinois comms are two gorgeous coins.. despite what some say.😊
ANACS soapbox are my all time favorite slab. From that classic look to...YELLOW !!?!??? Why !?
I would rather spend money on more coins than play the crack-out / switcharoonie challenge. Though I can see the adrenaline rush it is.
Fun video 😊😊
Hi Ben, those are some nice coins!!! IMO getting them in a PCGS is a win, especially with your eagle eye customer on the 48D Cent. I wish my eyes were that good. Nut real good narrative on the video and thus educational for all. Best wishes
Awesome 🇺🇲 👌
I do enjoy the crack outs. I haven't been brave enough to do it myself yet. I'm tempted to do a cross over, though. Thanks, Ben!
My apologies. I watched about 10 of your videos, in a row and did not like or comment. I did like this one. Great and fun content. Thanks.
I’m a CRACK ADDICT, too; got hooked on the stuff around 1989 ! What a lovely 1948-D Lincoln cent now residing in a PCGS Mint State-67 Red slab. However the 1900 Lafayette Commemorative Dollar is not uncirculated, despite ANACS and now PCGS grading it as Mint State-60. A stoic American Bald Eagle, 🦅really ? Okay, whatever. I wonder why Ben, “The Coin Geek”🤓 didn’t explain his NBA reference regarding the Mendoza Line ? Oh, wait; that’s not right. 😲 ⚾️⚾️⚾️ And General Lafayette of France🇫🇷 was not a foreigner when he came here; he was simply a great, noble and patriotic World traveler.
I like the eagle on the right, but it looks like Mexico 😂
Hi Ben! Very cool video! That 1876 Half is really awesome! I think you or the Engineer should check it out a little closer. It is definitely a RPD and really looks like the Lg/Sm FS-301 WB-106 variety, which is a very very expensive coin! Compare that coin and the die with the coins on PCGS, especially the F15 coin on the plate coins. I really think it is the variety. Pleeeeeeease check it out! Buuuuut, give me some response! I'm very anxious to know! Thanks for the awesome videos as always!
Important distinction for options when crossing over with PCGS - any straight grade vs details. I would only cross to a straight grade. I’d rather have my original holder back intact than a receiving a PCGS Details grade.
It’s too bad pcgs can’t just sticker it (at the customers request) with a numerical grade, comments, and a serial number.
If it’s a lesser opinion at pcgs, of course.
I've been sending quite a few coins to Anacs lately with gold ex-jewely or chopmarked T$ . It's nice to have the grade even if it's a details grade and there turn around time is so much faster .
The Mendoza Line aka Ben's Typical Outcome
I’m completely unbiased. ⚾️ is better than 🏀 Let’s go DODGERS 2024 !!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️
ROGER, The LOS ANGELES DODGER
H A P Treadwell maybe? Not entirely sure about the first letters, but the last name is surely Treadwell
I'll be glad when I get all the lingo down so I know what you are talking about🤣
What’s your favorite reverse on a pre-1960 commemorative half dollar? I don’t dislike the Illinois or Alabama reverses, but neither is top tier to me.
I see that graffiti as historically significant as the Chinese chop marks.
That 1876 has not been cleaned.
I think all the grading services are playing games. It does not work in the collectors favor. I recently did some submissions with both NGC and PCGS. Total let down. I am not interested in loose grading but more consistent grading. I know how to grade a morgan dollar. When I get back an 1885-O with beautiful fields and a spotless check I expect at least a 66. Nope I received a 65. Total bs. So right now I am not sending in submissions. It might be a good time to Cherryville some of these conservatively graded coins though.
The last name is treadwell
Are there exceptions to not sending in coins to be certified? I am thinking $3 gold coins since there are counterfeits and California fractional since they are small and there are so many BG numbers. Your thoughts?
What does the 2x2 symbolize on the Alabama commem? Thanks for all the great videos Ben!
Ben once again great video. I really like the Crack out videos . Gives me hope that I to can get good grades lol. I'm going to try my luck with NGC . I've got a 10 coin group that needs to get sent out after Xmas.
The Illinois eagle is part of their flag • The words are the state motto
Compare to the reverse of an Illinois Brown Back or First Charter national
Isn't the first coin HMS something which would be the name of a frigate or something along those lines?
1799 - Friedrich?
I would like to know what your thoughts are on the pcgs/ngc price guides. Do you feel like they're inflated, or are they in line with what the actual market is? It seems to me that there are a lot of videos out there from people whom I feel are credible to the coin communities that have referenced this fact.
Do you have to crack them, or can you resubmit with it still in the holder?
You can resubmit in holder
it must have been someone's lucky coin. .
There is nothing wrong with the 1876 half
As a european who has never even seen a graded coin.
why would you spend money to have someone else tell you what you already know
🤔 😉 🇩🇪
Because you literally don’t already know, also it’s not necessarily real.
H H L TREADWELL ?
FIFTH
FOURTH!
the Lafayette dollar should be sent to CAC. possible gold CAC.
I doubt it would gold cac, maybe green but gold is reaching.
Sometimes it feels like you all take these edicts much too seriously, do not neglect to genuflect. 😊
