Ben I hope you read this. I just thought of you when I purchased a ngc slabbed ms69 2014 d high relief kennedy silver half. The reverse has a heavy scratch on the bottom right half of the coin. It could be a error not sure yet but it's clear as day and large like a 1/2 inch deep cut. How did they miss that? This is right up your alley. It's a prime example and proof that they do not pay close attention when grading certain items
I loved ANACS when they were using the small holder. Almost all of my Bust half’s are in the little holders as are some of my better Morgan’s. I learn A lot watching your videos.
I think it’s interesting cracking out of these slabs (required) and sending to NGC raw so they have no reference to go by. In my experience they can agree with ICG but ICG tends to get fast and loose with high Morgan grades too compared to what NGC and PCGS goes by.
That last 1884 Philly, before you revealed, I thought... if the PCGS graders feel the same way you do about cheek quality, its going to upgrade... and boom.
Wow, I guess they do upgrade. I bet they would never upgrade a newer holder ANACS coin, though. In any case I'm glad to see your good result on that one. Thanks for sharing those!
Thanks! This is new ground for me. I have a couple of coins that were graded by PCGS that were disappointments. They couldn’t even follow their own standards. I must have gotten the B-Team. I’ll submit to NGC. Thanks!
Since the coin is still in the old slab, wouldn't that influence the graders? Or do they put a post-it over the old label? What about one grading company wanting to make the other look bad?
ive had mix results with the old white anacs holders to ngc the ms65 usually crossover the same or ms66 but then ive had some go down as much as 2 from 64 to 62 so you never know.
My buddy sends his coins to Anacs because it costs a lot cheaper to grade! I've always heard "buy the coin and not the holder." But, I say as far as wanting to maximize your return for investment purposes, the company should be either pcgs or ngc "depending on the coin"! If your not worried about return then the addage holds true! My 2 cents. Thanks Ben. Loved loved loved this video. It was nice to see the crossover and the added bonus of upgrade! Congrats. Take care brotha!!
That ‘84-P is so stunning! I was guessing 64+, with that chance at 65...shocked PCGS actually did it!! You’ve got some great coins and videos! If you happen to be in/near Pittsburgh PA the last weekend in October, it would be fantastic to meet you at the PAN coin show at our David Lawrence Convention Center. Big show!! Keep up the great work and thank you for all you are doing for the coin community!!! You are a very good teacher!
For any 65, I wouldn't want any distracting marks, especially at the focal points. The 1884 has a large scuff, dare I say gash, across the eagle's chest, as it's wearing Chewbacca's bandolier.
The Yellow holders have done more to hurt Anacs’s reputation then anything and whoever is in charge of that there should be 🔥 Always great to see that Anacs and ICG can be cherry-picked and even upgraded with a good eye
@@TheCoinGeek Well it started as a discussion on the quality of ANACS slabs and evolved into a crossover discussion. I think your crossover upgrade will answer a few questions and concerns.
Thanks for the show! Glad to have the 1903-O Morgan back, and very happy it crossed. Now that I’ve actually seen another crossover attempt actually upgrade, I’ll have to look through my collection to see if any others would be good candidates.👍😁
I never crossover always crack out and send in. PCGS has a habit ive seen with crossover where they will pretty much just look at it enough to see if it is the grade on the old holder and if it is theyll just slap that same grade over. If you crack out they have to start from scratch and look it over fully not until they reach a grade limit like a crossover. Ive only had/seen a handful of crossovers upgrade but I have seen tons of crackouts get upgrades.
What is the thought/decision process you use when deciding to submit coins for crossover verse breakout??? I have a number of ANACS and would like pursue getting them in new holders. Should breakouts be solely used for grade upgrades or confirmations???
With the two $10 gold pieces, I agree that the PCGS 64 has more contact marks, but to me the luster and strike appear to be better on the 64 when compared with the IGC 63 coin.
I guess you’ll be cracking the $10 gold. I’ve sent PCGS easy layups for crossover and they only bounce the ball off the backboard into their face. Nice to see someone (you) succeed. Mostly.
I've bought some gorgeous coins in Icg and Anacs holders that were accurately graded in my opinion. It always makes me laugh when people say they only buy coins in Pcgs or Ngc holders. Do you collect plastic or coins? Lol
These videos go to show how with grading companies, it can be all over the map. The crosses and upgrade all make sense, but then you get the 1907 gold piece not even crossing over! Just doesn't make sense.
You sound tired in this. I have to say I love these videos! It makes me not want to send in anything for grading. Especially after my first submission went wonky. I sent in a bust half (a clear 50/20) and they missed it. I am not sure how to bring it up to them. I don't think they allow any notes to go along with their submission as to what you think the attribution is. Plus it seems like it is a crap shoot if you get a designation of cleaned on uncleaned coins. Keep making your cracking and resubmitting vids. as it shows how random grading seems to be. (I am a noob by the way) but I feel like a raw coin may be a better buy.
In most cases, you need to point out the attribute, (plus pay an extra fee) to the grading company on the submission form. NGC wont add that type of die variety unless you ask. It is a per line item adder. Hope that helps.
I enjoy your videos about crossover coins but what concerns me is what all that does to population reports for grades!! Can you trust number of MS64 etc. Morgans out in the world??
I was going to make a purchase from you. Howevee after reading the terms of service and all the personal information you want i decline. No other company i deal with is that intrusive.

Sounds to me like somebody is monopolizing the whole coin game because it doesn't make any sense to me anacs is more reputable and has been around 10 to 15 years longer than the other so called grading companies but some how these other two companies are more reputable and cost more and take way longer to complete the process and the coin community favorites them when anacs consistency speak for itself what's wrong with this picture
Sweet stuff brother. 😎
Very beautiful coins ,Ben
Ben I am subscribed to your free channel. I enjoy your videos and your sense of humor. I also feel your pain as far as what comes back for grades.
Love the last Morgan you showed.
I cracked out a 1972 Ike, type 2 (king of the Ike's) ANACS, MS 64 and sent to NGC, It came back MS 65. So, it went from a $250 coin to a $950 coin.
I'll be honest-- I called all the crosses exactly. Agreed with all the grades.
Nice group of coins you got there Ben 👍
Is it about the coins, the grades,or profit?
You know I love getting philosophical!

When you send those coins for "Crossover", do you send them in the old holders, or crack them out then send them?
For crossover the coins must be sent in in their current grades

Just had them upgrade a new anacs merc from 64 to 64fb, not sure if that counts though haha
@@StupidBoyScouts That counts for something. I'm pretty surprised, actually
I enjoy these Re:Grade vids.
Finally- an UpGrade 🎉
When you are submitting for crossover and upgrade, do you remove from slab?
Nope
That would considered a Crackout
Cross over is left in the slab

What’s that? If they will upgrade ?
@@TheCoinGeek Well it started as a discussion on the quality of ANACS slabs and evolved into a crossover discussion. I think your crossover upgrade will answer a few questions and concerns.
I have been cherry picking ICG graded wheat cents at ms67 and washington quarters at 67 and for the most part the grading is not that bad

Soap Box Anacs for the undergraded coins.

That ‘84 should have upgraded. It is an awesome looking coin.
I've had good luck with Cross Overs at PCGS. A couple of upgrades also. IMO Stick WITH PCGS over NGC

Coin flippers think it's necessary to have their wares in PCGS and NGC slabs for maximum profit.
