I got the 6700s version for $1649 at BestBuy in the US. Very happy with it. Scores about 8500 in Timespy with the MUX switch on and in Turbo mode. With my old RTX 2060 G14, I can only get about 6000. My biggest surprise, though, is the screen improvement. Not only does it feel bigger with the 16:10 aspect ratio, but I swear the colors are more vibrant.

Could you also test the USB-C ports in upcoming AMD devices for USB-4 (40gb/s) support? Considering TB3 is a part of USB-4 spec, it could compensate for the lack of TB port on AMD laptops. And if possible, please test an eGPU in one of these videos.

As an engineer a design where hot air blows on the screen will have a negative impact on the lifetime of the screen but it is designed such that the problems only start appearing after the warranty period. They know exactly what they're doing. That's why gaming laptop warranties last between 1-2yrs max.
this irks me too. the g14 looks to be the best option for what I need in a laptop (Legion 5 series too, but those are overpriced especially the 2022 models). I'm seeing many people reporting backlight bleed issues on the G14. I've even seen it in videos from small YT'ers who bought retail G14's. Some may not care, but I personally hate backlight bleed.
Super stoked I could pick one up right before leaving to study abroad! Picked up the FHD+ 6700s version. Should be arriving soon! Upgrading from a six/seven year old Laptop, heh.
I don't think the screen heat is going to be an issue, been using my Asus ROG G502 hard since it launched 5 years ago and it's pretty good, obviously this has different panel but the heats my screen reached were unreasonably high, still it's been going strong
Hey Jarrod! I've narrowed my choices down to the 2021 ROG Strix G15 AMD advantage edition, and the 2022 ROG Zephyrus G14 AMD advantage edition. Are the performance increases I have been seeing for Strix worth the loss of the newer tech(ie:1600p 16:10 screen and the MUX switch.)? If those were your only two options which would you take? I really appreciate the value AMD are bringing to the market and want to support them vs a Nvidia card.

If your not hurting for more performance, there's really not much reason to upgrade. This years laptops are still kind of a 'refresh', and (while yes its been repeated many time before lol), wait for the newer generational leap of performance of graphics/cpu performance. I have a 9750h + 1660ti setup and could upgrade as well, but my workload is mainly on the CPU side of things, and its practically fine for me. I don't game as much as I would like to anyways.
@@NootNoot. Thanks for the input. Mine can still run CP77 65 fps at high, and Elden Ring 48 fps at ultra. Not much of a stickler when it comes to fps, as long as it hits 45+ fps consistent. I'll save my budget for next year's G14 model then.

This laptop is good in many ways, however, it is much worse than the previous years model with RTX 3060 due to the lack of DLSS which is much better than FSR (more support and actually produces a good image). So essentially the performance of the 6800S GPU is terrible compared to an RTX 3060, let alone an RTX 3080.
i have both the ga401 g14 with the 3060 ad the ga402 g14 with the 6800. the 2022 model ( 6800 ) is much more powerful anywhere from 25 to 40% screen screen is much better as well.
All the comparisons of this 14" against 15-16" laptops with bigger batteries, better cooling and more I/O makes not much sense. Customers usually compare laptops against the same screen size or body type. Just my 2c.
I think the g14 is absolutely overpriced, I dont know if it is because of the hype or something else but in France ( Im french the stock version of the g14 is actually 2000€ its to much dont you think ?)
If it ever does become an issue (which it may not), just create a flap of some kind that redirects the hot air being blown out of the vents. It would kind of look like a bit of thin tubing connected to the vents and going under the screen and out the sides (if you want to split the tube right there and direct it that way)

I have them! The 6700s has ever so slightly reduced wattage draw and maybe 1 degree cooler, but performs like 8-10% slower. Both are great though.

My 2021 model has none, the screen has very good backlight uniformity i cant even tell any variance in a dark room when the screen is black

It is a bit too expensive. But companies will charge whatever people will pay, and costs/shortages/inflation are real.
It’s one of the fist zen3+ laptops out. It’s early adopter prices. The only other is the MSI Delta and it’s not as high quality.
