    Great Unboxing/Review TJR!
For the record (pun intended) the original cover art for LA Woman was embossed with raised lettering "The Doors." It had a die-cut window through which you saw a printed clear acetate (or mylar?) sheet that was a one-color (black) back printed halftone. The yellow you were seeing through the window was the back side of the printed sleeve. Reproductions usually deleted all that detail, but a 2009 Rhino Records 180 gm. re-issue is a spot-on dead ringer for the original.

First, I like your little green friend! I’m a fan of the Mandelorian! And Baby Yoda is so cute!
LA Woman is a great Album!
I bought the 40th Anniversary 2 CD set. I enjoyed the outtakes. Second takes of Riders and LA Woman.
I was overjoyed hearing these versions. I thought that was it!
Now it’s the 50th Anniversary Edition and what do I find out? There’s more outtakes? OMG! They keep moving the Goalposts! I can’t keep up! Now I have to did even deeper into my pockets. Yikes 😬! I’m going Broke!
Thanks for showing me the latest edition. I’ll have to think about it. And take out a loan 💵🤣it looks like!
    Thanks!
    👏🏻🎸😎
By the way, Bruce Botnick did a great job! He’s a great sound engineer! You might say he’s their George Martin! He has remixed all their posthumous Live CDs and now the LPs.
    Kudos to him! 👏🏻

The original album cover had a clear plastic window with the dors pic. The inner sleeve had the drawing of Jim on the phone pole. I loved that cover when it came out.

I streamed this hi res through Roon (which I highly recommend to you) and the sound is lovely and warm. A really good remaster and the extra mixes are amazing.

Been looking forward to your unboxing of this one for a while. The album itself is one of the greatest in classic rock, and this anniversary release is chalk full of cool extras. 🤟😎🎸

Jerry Scheff played bass on this album (who played bass for Elvis in the TCB Band) excellent bass player

I got this set and I really like it. My go-to CD of the original "L.A. Woman" album is from my "Perception" box set. You also get two extra tracks that aren't on this new box set. A B-Side "You Need Meat (Don't Go No Farther)" (A Muddy Waters cover sung by Ray Manzarek), and another outtake, "Orange County Suite". I wonder if those are actually from these sessions? The main album CD on this box set was given the plangent treatment before its CD transfer. That should have created better sound quality, but it could have been too compressed during the mastering process. The long session tracks are takes sequences. In some cases, a lot of takes, including false starts and breakdowns. I have that previous 2 CD set, and from what I can tell, many of the bonus disc tracks are hybrid versions, made from the different takes on here, all put together. Even the studio banter is cobbled together. "The WASP (Texas Radio And The Big Beat)" must be different, because the bonus version on the new set is just a short instrumental take. I can remember an LP set was already made of the last bonus disc from the previous 40th anniversary set. So, I wonder if they will even do an alternate LP for this Record Store Day? By the way, the full Beatles rooftop performance is being released to streaming platforms at midnight tonight. No word yet on a physical release. Maybe for a RSD?

I've seen it and it looks great! For the same price at $70. Personally for me, I'm not an alternate version guy but if you love the doors it's at the very least a good read and a nice collector's piece. .. Sam

There’s a healthy amount of Doors fans that don’t particularly care for this album. Me, I love it.

Beautiful set. It's one of my favorite Doors LPs. Natirally a record called L.A. WOMAN would have gold lame cover art.😄 Good video, Teej

I do quite like this style of anniversary reissue. Not quite a box set which is good. Easy to get to all the stuff you need and not as expensive as the big box sets. Also CD and Vinyl. Looks good!

One song missing is Paris Blues.

Was happy with this release.only gripe would be I wish they would have giving each take its own track instead of all takes on 1 track.

Yes, I agree with this. 20 - 25 minutes of takes for one song can get a little tiresome. I especially like the takes sequences of "The Changeling" and "Been Down So Long". I like when John Densmore (I think) said Jim Morrison's vocal on a take was so loud, he sounded like god. ha!

The original release on vinyl in 1971 had a hole in the front cover with a piece of clear acetate glued to the cover
that had the picture of The Doors on it.
The inside record sleeve was yellow and the yellow was visible thru the acetate on the front.
On the back of the inner sleeve was the "crucifixion" phone pole picture.
Later editions did away with the acetate covered hole and just had the photo of The Doors with a yellow background on a solid faced record jacket.

I can never understand fans of a band or album who complain about there's just too much music to listen to.
My friends and I always wanted all the music we could get our hands on when it came to our favorite groups. I'll never understand it.
It would be nice if they included the Making of L.A. Woman documentary, and it's outtakes. I think it's very well done. YT did have it for free, not any more. But it does have the outtakes for free.
